Kate McCann will front the campaign, which will see 124,000 postmen and women get alerts on their scanners, used to track and sign for deliveries, when a child or adult disappears

Madeleine McCann’s mother Kate has teamed up with Britain’s posties to help in the hunt for missing children.
The Royal Mail’s 124,000 postmen and women will get alerts on their scanners, used to track and sign for deliveries, when a child or adult disappears.
The group will also use nearly 2,000 TV screens at mail centres to raise the alarm in the tie-up with charity Missing People, which is promoted by Kate.

A recorded message from the former GP will be shown for the first time on Tuesday to Royal Mail staff on their internal telly network.

In it, Kate, whose three-year-old daughter disappeared from a holiday apartment in Portugal in May 2007, tells them: “We hear of people who are willing to help, who see people every day, see changes in routine every day, and I think it is a really exciting prospect in the crucial role they can play.”
Kate, 46, an ambassador for the charity, helped launch an enhanced child rescue alert scheme in spring.
She and heart doctor husband Gerry, 46, from Rothley, Leics, believe Madeleine – who would now be 11 – could still be alive.
Police have quizzed a British gardener, who working near the apartment little Maddie vanished from, about his whereabouts during a critical two-and-a-half hour period on that night.
The ex-pat, who still lives in Portugal's Algarve, was working near the holiday flat which the three-year-old vanished from

I think it might have been a good idea to team up with posties and put a stamp on a letter to the Pt. police asking them to re-open the case. A recording to the posties, I am pretty sure, would have melted their hearts and it would have been delivered post haste. Rocky A. sure knows his onions and he knew what would get the investigation re-opened, a simple stamp on a letter.

At this rate they'll be Dame Kate and Sir Gerry before they're 50!

This gardener the police (who shouldn't be there anyway) are now ~~harassing~~ questioning would have been unlikely to have seen anything if the kidnapping was staged because Madeleine would have been long gone before all the pandemonium started. If there had been a kidnapping, what could he tell them now that he wouldn't have offered up in 2007? I would hate to be a resident in PDL with all this witch-hunting going on, not to mention the yearly media pilgrimage. This nonsense needs to stop.

Red highlighting - wouldn't surprise me at all. Also wouldn't surprise me if he becomes an honourable MP and ultimately Lord and Lady McC. (by the time they are 70) don't ya know.

Ya'know, sometimes it feels like they're laughing at everyone in the face, they neglect their children knownly, and get all this from it. I'm really trying hard to see why, but I never will be able to understand it.

Anyone know if we'll get a 'reaction' from brilliant parenting 'posties' being 'fed' this stuff by a person who, diliberately and consciously, LEFT, her THREE kids, all under four years old, ALONE, in an unlocked, unsecured, holiday apartment, abroard, whilst she diliberately and consciously, CHOSE to go to 'dinner' out of sight/earshot, of her kids?

What IF a 'paedo' imitates/poses as a 'postie' and 'grabs' a kid, saying , 'i think/thought she/he was the one i was noted/alerted to, about, on my wrist 'computer', and i'm taking she/he 'back to my depot'?

Who's going to 'question' the him/her 'postie' about THAT?

All perfectly legit and 'above board', according to St Kate.

Won't be HER 'fault', as always, will it?

Jean, I was a postman for 31 years (but saw the light a few years back and left, now I've got a decent job).

If I was still there, this would be me when the screening was forced on me.

Yes this is just the biggest farce in the world. And the photo they have used of 'Madeleine' in that article isn't Madeleine, imo. Looks like a completely different girl.

They have now, but Rocky says it could have been done a lot sooner had they put a stamp on a letter before SY started their review/re-investigation.

Aw, give our Kate her due. She did sit on lots of sofas, pull lots of scrunchy faces and have pictures taken of her looking like a saint. And she did take the time and effort to bewk flights and arrange child care only to be deceived by Evil Dr Goncalo at the court in Portugal. She's a grafter, I'll give her that!

Dame Kate and her lame idea of turning posties into civilian police, what a daft thing !
I'm sure posties are chuffed (not) by the idea that their screen might show image of a missing person on call as and when, and they're expected to keep vigilant while doing their rounds.

Are they expected to peep into the house or ask awkward question of the householder if they should chance upon a look-alike-to the missing person in the house?

Posties should object to being used by Kate in this way.

Think its a great idea . Postman on his early morning round is in the perfect position to look in on kiddies left on there own by mum and dad who've gone on the razz and haven't got back yet . Great idea .

I'm sure posties don't want to do this! It's hard enough for them trying to complete their rounds on time and getting the right letters to the right houses in all weathers.

I've nothing against raising awareness for missing people, and some ideas are actually really good, in all fairness. It's just that whenever the McCanns are involved in anything, it loses credibility in my eyes, and my first reaction is: What's their alterior motive? What are they getting from this? Because everything they do is selfish.

Plebgate..apparently they started a trial run with postmen in rothley..was a disaster. Postmen were reporting children left on their own while parents were on the razz. Kate as ambassador had to have a meeting with said posties not to dial 999 ad this was well within the bounds of normal parenting.
