Madeleine McCann cops hunt worker at resort as they fear he 'kept secrets' from local police

British officers are convinced the former worker at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz knows more than he's told them

police are hunting for a worker from the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished who they believe has clues about her disappearance.

The Portuguese man was at the Ocean Club in Praia Da Luz when the three-year-old was snatched in 2007.

He gave a statement at the time but detectives fear he may have kept secrets.

A local police source said: “British officers are very keen to question him.”

The former resort worker being hunted by police on the Madeleine McCann case gave a witness statement two days after the girl vanished.

But British officers trying to find the youngster fear he may have kept secrets from local detectives that could have led to a breakthrough in the case.

And they now want to speak to the former staff member who worked at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz on the Algarve, where three-year-old Madeleine vanished in May 2007.

A Portuguese police source said: “British officers are convinced he knows more than he was previously saying and are very keen to question him.

“They are not suggesting he stole Maddie but he may know people who could have been involved after a burglary went wrong. The investigation in Britain seems to be grinding to a halt and they want to rule him out of the case if not rule him in.

“Then detectives know they have done everything in their power to try to solve the case.

“This Portuguese man used to work at the club resort, he speaks a bit of English.”

Another source reportedly said: “There is just one person detectives want to speak to who was near to the area Madeleine disappeared from 10 years ago.

“An international search has been under way to find them.”

The “solid live lead” is seen as strong enough to have persuaded the Home Office to plough £85,000 more into the Met’s Operation Grange. That will extend the search for Madeleine until September.

Senior officers are said to have admitted this the “last throw of the dice” in the hunt. But they are taking the new lead so seriously that top Whitehall officials are being briefed on its progress, it is understood.

The £13million hunt for Madeleine was due to end within weeks. But the extra cash came after a“special grant funding” appeal from the Met when the new lead came to light.
Scotland Yard said: “Inquiries are ongoing.” The Ocean Club would not comment last night.

Can you imagine telling a police officer investigating a child's disappearance that you know a few relevant and pertinent things that you don't want to talk about now?

Can you imagine a police officer accepting that as an answer and letting you walk out of the station?

Can you imagine a police inquiry into a child's disappearance allowing witnesses to refresh their memories by reading their original statements or that of a spouse?

Can you imagine police officers, given a set of rogatory questions by the lead investigators in Portugal, allowing witnesses to be asked a question posed by two people who are suspects in the Portuguese investigation?

Can you imagine that almost nine years after making that statement, there is no evidence to suggest Dr Payne ever did enter a forum (of his choosing, or anyone else's) to divulge those pertinent and relevant details, not even after DCI Redwood revealed that the child may not have left the apartment alive?

Can anyone explain why that same witness, present in the vital hours and minutes before that child went missing, should have been, along with his wife, removed from a Crimewatch reconstruction that appealed to millions here and in certain other countries - but not Portugal, where the crime took place?

In light of the publicity surrounding the Supreme Court's decision, the fact that Amaral is allowed to publish his book and the fact that the McCanns were never cleared by the PJ ...... try and get as many other suspects into the UK media as possible?

Kept secrets – like the British police force that kept the secret of the Gaspar statements for six months until after Dr Amaral had left the investigation. Or like the British police investigation and a private investigation that kept the Smith efits a secret for so long. Secrets like those?

I just can't believe people take these stories seriously and accept this is what S.Y. are actually doing. Please please somebody with an ounce of common sense try to convince me that this is anything other than vomitile tripe.

I'm not trying to sneak anything in. If the public get to read this then they will be made aware that this tragic case of a missing child has turned into nothing other than a "write your own pay check" for greedy legal companies. Even a law company cannot counter that.

Jeanmonroe has reminded us, from DP’s statement, that he has actually admitted withholding information, and from the statements in the PJ files we know there are many others also who just couldn’t get their stories right.

Is that ‘Sonia Who’ about to try and talk to him? Whatever happened to her? Haven’t seen anything from her recently apart from a tweet the other week slamming the ‘trolling research’ rubbish.

Maybe DP opened up to her about everything he knows but wasn’t forthcoming about, but then again maybe he didn’t!

On the 28th October 2007, the Daily Mail published an article in which John Stalker said he believed Kate and Gerry McCann were hiding a big secret. Today, on the Daily Mail article about the Portuguese " secretman", I attempted to leave a comment referring readers to this 2007 article but it was not printed. I made no personal comments, so how can a newspaper have objections about one of it's own previous articles ? What I would have liked to suggest, but didn't, was that the Met have no authority to pursue or question the Portuguese man so they could have saved the £85000 and interviewed the UK residents who have either admitted, or are suspected of, hiding secrets. It is this relentless pursuit of foreigners while ignoring the doubts associated with the Tapas group which gives rise to so much suspicion and anger.

Out of the box thought here: could it be , could it possibly be that this guy along with a few of his friends actually saw someone run out of the apartment door with a child in his arms and down into the town. He is now prepared to identify this person. Speculate as to whom this person with the child might be by all means.The Police just want him to share this secret in an INTERVIEW.
