Madeleine McCann: Parents of missing tot fear ex-cop’s book could be published in UK
THE parents of Maddie McCann fear a controversial book about the missing tot could be published in the UK.
By Jerry Lawton / Published 2nd February 2017
Kate and Gerry McCann already face a huge legal bill after a failed attempt to sue its author Goncalo Amaral.
Maddie vanished during a 2007 family holiday in Portugal, aged three.
Former police officer Mr Amaral hopes to have his account of the case published abroad following his court win in his native Portugal.
His book accuses the McCanns of covering up their daughter’s death, an allegation they have strongly denied.
The McCanns’ lawyers have warned they will take action against anyone who tries to release it in the UK.
Spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “If it does appear, whoever is responsible will be sued.”

Who is paying this guy in 2017?

Seriously? They have just lost at least a half million pound lawsuit , and they are whining about being wiped out financially yet they still talk about future lawsuits. Who and what is going to pay for that? I doubt they have any chance of successfully suing anyone but but I see no reason why it couldn't be published in English in Portugal or anywhere else abroad.

For people involved with the Madeleine Fund (multi-millionaires Edward Smethurst and Brian Kennedy for instance), this is small change if they're helping finance the lawsuits.melisande wrote:Seriously? Gonçalo is a target, the McCann's have "picked their battle". TB and the late Brenda Leyland being their other targets, of course.

I can't see them still being financed by Smethurst and Kennedy but stranger things and all that. They aren't doing themselves any favours by issuing threats to sue if the book is published in this country. It screams out that it's something worth reading and that they have something to hide imo.
ETA I saw a lot of comments yesterday on the Daily Mail articles asking if it would be published and people not being able to wait to read it and being directed to read it online. If you ban something, then you are just encouraging more interest and the Internet is going to be the first port of call.

Yep, every time GA's book is mentioned in the media my Truth of the Lie blog gets many thousands of hits - 76,208 yesterday alone.melisande wrote:I can't see them still being financed by Smethurst and Kennedy but stranger things and all that. And my blog is only one place on the internet where it can be read - there's AnnaEsse's own blog, of course, and a few other places too which must also get thousands of hits.
Own goal for the McCann's who wanted it banned.

Is this not just the usual lazy newspapers revamping bits of the reports from last year?

'they' 'LIED' again when they said 'he was released' last year. (because they couldn't, supposedly, 'afford' his spokesmanship)
imo: "As CM has admitted he was (still is?) receiving £28,000 per annum (40% of his 'original salary' of £70,000 per annum) FROM the 'Findmadeleine 'search' fund' ('donators' will be sooooo 'pleased' the 'SEARCH fund' was (is?) paying him, this money, using 'their' donations, to 'say' a few 'words' a year!) anyway.........I 'suspect' he IS STILL their 'spokesman' because he 'knows' where 'the bodies are buried', so to speak."
The man is, after all, a 'sell out' to the highest 'bidder', imo.
'Costa Concordia' anyone?
http://onlyinamericablogging.blogspot.com/2012/01/clarence-mitchell-costa-concordia-spin.html
CM was 'spokesman' defending the 'company' over the 33 dead 'victims' rights! imo.

Re: Madeleine McCann: Parents of missing tot fear ex-cop’s book could be published in UK
For supposedly intelligent people they do not act intelligently. For a start, one look at the usual round of comments shows they are engaged in a futile exercise. Once the public turn, that's it.
What exactly is it they want? What is the end game?
It is pretty clear that the couple are never going to be prosecuted, although there must be some in the establishment who must fervently wish they had been. They are a giant headache all round.
The public are sick to the back teeth of them. It's almost a decade of exposure. Have they never heard of over-exposure?
But the most ridiculous thing is the issue of "the banned book". It is simply stupid to carry on advertising the existence of a banned book that NOBODY must read. Signalling that the book "madeleine" is the only permissable testimony is red rag to a bull. Have they never heard of Spycatcher?
It is now an exercise in observing the effects of blind panic on human behaviour. You would think they might desist now, and give their remaining children a chance of some peace.
But from experience we know that when they are "furious"and "seething" and not "buoyed" you can expect more self-defeating tantrums.

The truth of the lie documentary when goncalo mentions gerry said he felt like there was someone behind the door when he checked on the kids, this again indicates gerry could not have possibly looked at maddie and admired her beauty whilst she was sleeping, he would have had to neter the room and go over to her and still wouldnt have been able to see her beauty but upon eaving the room he most certainly would have seen someone hiding behind the door, assuming the hall light was on. So he looked at Madelaine sleeping thinking how beautiful she was in the dark, but missed a man stood behind the door in a lighter part of the room ? if you look at the documentary you can see a man wouldnt have fitted behind the door if gerry opened it enough to walk into the room.

Its almost like anything they have said is ok, whether it makes sense , whether they contradict themselves and each other, whether their statements are even impossible, but my question would have to be, WHY ? why are they being treated so differently to anyone else ?

Yep, they should feel fear. Hopefully it will be published in English and be available to buy for anyone who wishes for a hard copy.

I don't believe that will ever happen. Gerry's confident statement about having to find her body first and prove it was them suggests to me he knows she will never be discovered.sar wrote:fear the daughters remains turning up more like!

And there was me believing Clarrie had been axed as their spokesman since last year!
I think the only hope we have of getting to the truth is if one of their friends from the Tapas 7 eventually crack and start talking, but unless arrests are made that won't happen. If only the Portuguese would reopen the case and get things moving.

Spot on with that one. Has a member of the Tapas gang already cracked I wonder. Interesting times ahead as the remaining children hit the teenage years and might fancy a bit of mummy and daddy baiting. They are not all as dumbassed as the mongheads who believe the McCann version of events. This is the month of pantomimes. Who here can remember the revelation of the "Emperors New Clothes"?spacestar wrote:And there was me believing Clarrie had been axed as their spokesman since last year!

Hello to the forum. I have come here from the digital spy forum posts. Most unusually a long thread on the Madeleine case has not been pulled. (This forum was mentioned as very fair and informative). An interesting thing was that frequently someone would come on being very hostile and accusing posters of being callous, nasty speculators etc and the whole thing would end up in a back and forth row. This was very obvious when someone said they met a police woman on holiday who had strong opinions having worked on the case. There was an immediate flurry of "How shocking, she should be sacked. No one should say a word..." Which seemed designed to make sure the person posting was scared off repeating what the policewoman had said!

Hello and welcome Reggiregg
Yes, I heard about the digital spy thread that's been allowed - I've even been over for a read to see what all the fuss was about!
I understand the forum owner was wary about legal action, but there are several McCann forums that are still active.

This forum, as far as I'm aware, is the only one to have been Carter-Rucked a few times, but we're still here too.
