News Corp says it is in talks with Rebekah Brooks after reports she will return as chief of its UK division.

Former News of the World editor Mrs Brooks quit as chief executive four years ago amid the hacking scandal. She was later cleared at trial.

Her re-appointment could be confirmed next month, the Financial Times said.

Meanwhile, the Crown Prosecution Service said it was considering a file for possible corporate prosecution over phone-hacking at the News of the World.

The file relates to evidence gathered as part of Operation Weeting, which investigated illegal voicemail interceptions at the tabloid, which was closed in 2011.

The CPS said: "We have received a full file of evidence for consideration of corporate liability charges relating to the Operation Weeting phone-hacking investigation."

On the Financial Times report, a News Corp spokeswoman said: "When we have any announcements to make we will let you know."

Mrs Brooks said after being acquitted of all charges following a 138-day trial that she felt "vindicated".

Andy Coulson, another former News of the World editor, was jailed after being convicted of conspiracy to intercept voicemails on mobile phones.

Rebekah Brooks to return as News Corp chief Empty Re: Rebekah Brooks to return as News Corp chief

Post by Tony Bennett 29.08.15 8:52

So the woman who serialised Dr Kate McCann's book in the Sun - and on the back of that hounded the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom into setting up the expensive charade that is Operation Grange - is back.

A spokesman for the campaign group 'Hacked Off' has issued a statement today condemning this appointment.

Although Gerry & Kate McCann fronted the 'Hacked Off' campaign and spoke against the press at the Leveson enquiry, strangely enough it wasn't them speaking up today to condemn Brooks' appointment.

Brooks was mightily lucky to get acquitted over 'phone hacking. Her defence was incompetence - she said she didn't know what her staff - including her long-time lover Andy Coulson, were doing. And she admitted to deleting stacks of e-mails in an attempt to avoid conviction.

A corrupt individual, who is very close to key figures in the McCann case, will be back at the most powerful posiiton in the British media

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

Look at the people who fill Westminster, and look at those who control the media. Is there any wonder why the planet we live on is so messed up? We are living in an age where the vast majority of the non-criminal minds are living on a minimum wage. And they say "honesty pays" Ummm!

Rebekah Brooks to return as News Corp chief Empty The Fragrant Rebekha Brooks returns to the News Corp?

Post by willowthewisp 29.08.15 13:43

Good old Rupert is delighted that the fragrant Rebekah Brooks return to the News Corporation, after being cleared of any criminal offences in the Hacking trials?
Rebekah will now be able to voice her support of a couple of friends that she has supported throughout the past eight years, after the same Corporation she is employed by has had to pay Hundreds of Thousands pounds for defamation of their Character via Carter Ruck?
Whilst reaping sales of their newspapers with ludicrous headlines throughout that time of Madeleine's whereabouts?
I wonder if Dodgy Dave has sent any text messages of support in her new role, LOL?
Wonder if the fragrant one will happen to become a new bride of Rupert's in the future, as she is so dear to him?
To moderators apologies did not realise there is an existing thread please merge my post to it, Sorry about that.

Rebekah Brooks returns as chief of News UK – and lead Rupert Murdoch's attack on the BBC

 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/press/rebekah-brooks-to-return-as-chief-of-news-uk--and-lead-rupert-murdochs-attack-on-the-bbc-10483337.html

Rebekah Brooks is CEO of News UK again as her return to Murdoch's media empire is confirmed

Four years after the phone scandal that rocked the UK media, Rebekah Brooks is returning to Rupert Murdoch's media empire.

"I am delighted to return to News UK. It is a privilege to be back amongst the most talented journalists and executives in the business," said Brooks.

"I am confident that we can meet the many challenges of this digital age with a combination of cutting edge technologies and world-class journalism."

Shadow culture secretary Chris Bryant said Brooks's reinstatement is "Rupert Murdoch has sticking two fingers up to the British public" and those who had their phones hacked.

"However you cut it, his newspapers hacked thousands of phones and made money out of the private lives of ordinary members of the public who only came into the limelight because they were victims of crime," the Labour MP for Rhondda told The Guardian.

"Hundreds of ordinary journalists lost their jobs when Mr Murdoch closed the News of the World, but it seems Rebekah Brooks is to get very special treatment."

Last summer, Brooks was acquitted of the four charges stemming from her time in charge of the News of the World - phone hacking, conspiring to pervert the course of justice, and two counts of conspiring to commit misconduct in public office.

Rebekah Brooks' ex-security boss vows to 'blow whistle'

Mark Hanna says he is disgusted Brooks has been re-employed and will reveal details of time at Murdoch papers

The former head of security for Rebekah Brooks has said he will blow the whistle on Rupert Murdoch’s UK newspapers, the day after it was confirmed she had been re-hired as chief executive of News UK.

In a video uploaded to YouTube, Mark Hanna, who was acquitted last year along with Brooks and her husband, Charlie, of plotting to pervert the course of justice, claims he was “extremely close” and trusted by executives at News International and he now wanted to show how “underhanded” they had been.
Hanna was the director of security at the company, now known as News UK. Unlike Brooks, who received a payout of more than £16m after resigning from News Corp in 2011 and has been reinstated, Hanna was made redundant after the trial and received £30,000 from the company.

“I am now standing up against those that sit back and treat us all with contempt – the Murdochs and Brooks of the world,” Hanna said in a two-minute video released on Friday.

Hanna, who is unemployed and living on benefits, said the decision by Murdoch to reinstate Brooks four years after the phone-hacking allegations and the closure of News of the World had infuriated him and many others.

“To me, her previous director of group security, this is Murdoch’s middle finger being shoved right in my face after standing trial with her, and others, in what was classed as the trial of the century during which it was widely accepted that I should never have been involved.”

In June, Hanna said he fully expected to get his job back after the trial but was made redundant. Because of the “stigma” of being involved in the phone-hacking trial he found he could not get work.

“Even though I did nothing wrong, I’ve paid an enormous price. I’ve been told by leading industry figures that the risk to reputational damage is too great, that my standing in the security business is irreparable.”
He claims that during the trial at the Old Bailey he sat with Brooks, Andy Coulson, Ian Edmondson, Clive Goodman, Charlie Brooks, Cheryl Carter and Stuart Kuttner and witnessed what went on behind the scenes.

“I intend to tell you everything that I know which I am sure will shock everybody as well as revealing what it was like working in what was, or is certainly becoming, one of the most hated organisations in the UK, if not the world,” Hanna said in the video.
Hanna challenged his redundancy settlement at an employment tribunal in Croydon in June. “I feel betrayed,” he said in remarks after the tribunal hearing, adding that what has happened was “wrong, immoral and unjust”.

During the Old Bailey trial, his barrister described Hanna, a former soldier who had been employed at News International since 2009, as “a hired hand” who had become entangled in “a huge sensational case, which in truth has nothing to do with him”.
In his video, Hanna said he knew when he joined the company that “things were not right”. But despite repeated attempts to alert management to the problems, he was fobbed off, he claims.

“I aired my concerns to the relevant management but was always told to ignore things. This blasé attitude was never so relevant than today, with the reinstatement of Rebecca Brooks.

“In summary, I feel passionate about the journey I have had ... and continue to endure at the hands of the Murdoch empire as well as their continual disregard for the general public’s right to know the truth.”

A spokesperson for News UK said: “Mark Hanna has been through an exceptionally difficult time. He was acquitted in court and, throughout the trial, we supported him and paid his substantial legal fees. We also continued to pay his salary and bonuses and provided other financial support throughout his trial and afterwards. When he said he wished to return, we offered him a comparable position with the company.
“Despite all our efforts to find a resolution with Mark, the matter is now before an employment tribunal, a fair and independent proceeding, where the company will defend itself vigorously. We consider his YouTube video to be an attempt to force News UK into offering an unreasonable financial settlement. Of course, we completely reject his accusations of illegal conduct.”

Ex-Royal Butler Wins Case Against Clifford

Ex-royal butler Paul Burrell has won a privacy action against convicted sex offender and former PR man Max Clifford.

A High Court judge in London awarded Mr Burrell £5,000 in damages, a fraction of the £50,000 he had claimed for Clifford's breach of confidence and misuse of private information.
Mr Burrell had said he hired Clifford to limit negative press coverage about him but, instead, Clifford had "betrayed" him by passing on material to Rebekah Brooks at the now defunct News of the World newspaper.
