Why is so much money still being spent by UK police on the search?
Apologies if this is a duplicate thread.
I do not follow the case closely and do not comment here much.
Can someone explain to me why millions are still being spent on the McCann case, but others including Ben Needham get hardly any funding?
Makes no sense to me.

Yes. Better substitute the word 'case' for 'search'. The whole shebang may well be a shadow show. Why? We can only speculate.

The 'missing' child's own mother did not 'search' for her 'missing' daughter when she 'disappeared'........('It was too dark')
And the mother has not 'searched' since, in over 8 years and 5 months.
Why would 38 full time police staff, including 23-26 'detectives', 'bother' searching if the parents, and their 'devout' friends, CAN'T be 'bothered' to 'search' themselves, from the day after the child's 'disappearance'?
OG is 'known' throughout the MPS as 'the bent mugs unit'.
Oh,
'and a f**king embarrassment to the MPS' in general.
I'm not even going to say what 'serving' MPS Officers 'say' about DCI 'KM 'mini me', Wall!
Suffice to say it 'rhymes' with 'What a Brunt.'

A large number of police officers from the Met are totally fed up, enough to have contributed £1000 to Amaral's libel case appeal online at gofundme... £1,000 in total.

Why says the Police are searching for her?
There is an investigation, yes. A search, No.
If they are searching it's not for a living child going by the excavation expedition and snail pace investigation.
They are trying to get the bastards that did this to her.

Re: Why is so much money still being spent by UK police on the search?
Both UK and Portuguese police may well be pretty sure what happened, but there may not be enough evidence to convict.
The head of the British CPS, Alison Saunders herself, went over to PDL, so there must have been at least some possibility in the offing, or she would have sent an underling. The CPS only has juridiction in the UK and/or over British citizens. Positive thinkers believe more evidence may genuinely be being collected, and that relationships with the Portuguese team are more constructive than is being reported.
Alternatively, Operation Grange may simply be involved in a 'non-investigation' and cover up. However if you think this you have to wonder why they have not taken all the many opportunities to close the down case earlier. There are quicker and cheaper ways of doing it.
I, for one, can't believe all the British police team are either numpties or corrupt... What all 38 of them? (If 38 are really working on the case). One or more of them may well let information leak out at some time in the future.
Conspiracy theorists believe some bigwig, someone very 'important'... like royalty... is being protected, and blackmail risk from those in the know keep it going.
Murdoch may be powerful and the continuance of OG may suit him, but not to the extent of pushing for all those millions of pounds to be spent...
Clarence Mitchell, is certainly a superb media manipulator on the parents behalf. I wonder if he could be a spook as well?
Egg on the faces of powerful people like Bernard Hogan Howe who have supported the two main protagonists in a nonsensical 'abduction' hypothesis? Surely there is not that much egg in the world.
What is not credible is that a couple of two-bit medics are demanding the phenomenally expensive continuance of Operation
Grange off their own bat.
For a longtime I though it was 50/50 whether Operation Grange was just a whitewash. Right now I am gloomy.

That may well be true, (they've paid him enough with 'donations' from Madeleine's 'fund'. 'I get 40% of my 'salary' paid from Madeleine's 'fund' CM. (40% of £70,000 pa = £28,000pa 'paid to CM BY Madeleine's Fund)
Hope you're still 'donating' OAP's!
Anyway, what is 'certain', imo, is that CM has also been 'researching' the following:
1) Joint Enterprise.
2) Assisting an offender, Assisting offenders.
3) Perverting the course of Justice.
'I don't know nuffing about nuvving, guv, 'onest' just won't 'cut it' after CM asked the 'public' to 'send money in envelopes, addressed to Kate and Gerry, Rothley, they'll get there'
How much 'income tax' did the McCann's 'evade' using this 'send money in envelopes' that you asked the 'public' to do, Clarence?
The 'biggie'!
Would CM, or more 'widely' their 'holiday chums' be prepared to, possibly, do jail 'time', for the McCann's, 'should' it emerge, that the McCann's were, indeed, 'involved' in Madeleine's 'disappearance'?
There's no clear 'evidence' that they were not, 'involved', is there?
As a Leicestershire Police officer said in a UK court room.!
