The year 2006
2005 – a non MW holiday with the Paynes and other in a villa in Mallorca.
2006 The McCanns move to Rothley.
2006: Dr. G.P. McCann joins the quango Comare. - one might expect this to be a political connection?
2006 Solicitor Richard Jones from Leicester moves to London. In 2007 he is working – apparently short – term for the IFLG and is sent out to PdL. Soon afterwards he seems to have left the firm.
The connection to IFLG was made by Rachel Mampilly. IFLG was less than six weeks old by 3/5/07 when they helped set up a ‘Fighting Fund’.
2005/2006 – The charity ‘Missing People’ is in financial trouble.
2005 – Amanda Hart – one of the physics contacted by a member of the McCann family.....
The name of Amanda Harts company she set up in April 28th 2007 is called ..AMBER CONNECTIONS
Amanda Hart did have the name Amber Connections prior to 2007 .... - prior to May 2007 it had just been a 'spiritual development' service: it was only in April 2007 that it became a fully fledged 'missing persons', 'psychic detective' enterprise.
.
2006 The disclosure project is published.

IFLG in 2006/7
Seems the IFLG sent a solicitor Richard Jones to portugal for some reason, even though they dealt with family abduction not stranger abduction:
McCann family to launch fighting fund
By Nick Britten and Richard Edwards12:01AM BST 15 May 2007
A fighting fund will be launched by the McCann family and could be used to finance private detectives to join the hunt.
The family has instructed one of the country's leading legal specialists on child abduction to help them run the foundation, which is expected to be launched tomorrow.
Michael Nicholls QC was head of the Lord Chancellor's Child Abduction Unit for five years and is, among other things, a member of the Family Justice Council's International Family Law Committee.
Mr Nicholls was instructed by the McCanns' solicitors, The International Family Law Group, who have sent their solicitor Richard Jones to Portugal to be with them

Looking at the archives for the IFLG website, Richard jones is on the first archived instance (21 June 2007) but is no longer there on the next archived instance (22 Aug 2007). Also seems he was a lawyer in Leicester:
Richard Jones
Senior Family Law Executive
Richard Jones is a Senior Family Law Executive at iFLG, having come to London in May 2006 from a leading law firm in Leicester. For the past 15 years he has specialised in International Parental Child abduction cases both under the Hague Convention and with complex non-Hague cases where there are no international treaties.

An International Family Law Committee also exists, wouldn't that have been enough to deal with the subject?
Looks as if IFLG was notified only marginally later than Sky news and the police.
As soon as I saw his name and Leicester I thought I bet he was the one to go over to PDL - then found the newspaper naming him as their lawyer...
The IFLG is even younger - it launched 31 March 2007... so 6 weeks or so old by the time of the events... and by 22 August Richard Jones is no longer with them... didn't stay very long...

The International Family Law Group (iFLG) launches at its premises in Covent Garden, London. We are a new specialist law firm providing services to the international community as well as for purely national clients. We have a special contract with the Legal Services Commission for child abduction work and are regularly instructed by the UK Government. We act for international families, ex pats and others in respect of financial implications of relationship breakdown including forum shopping and international enforcement of orders. We receive instructions from foreign lawyers and, as accredited specialists, act for clients of other law firms seeking their specialist experience.

Psychics and Amber Alert

At this juncture, an unfortunately common tragedy of modern life will occur: A small child, likely a photogenic toddler, will be murdered or horrifically abused. It will happen in one of the media capitals of the Western world, thereby ensuring non-stop breathless coverage. Chip manufactures will recognize this as the opportunity they have been anticipating for years. With their technology now largely bug-free, familiar to most citizens and comparatively inexpensive, manufacturers will partner with the police to launch a high-profile campaign encouraging parents to implant their children "to ensure your own peace of mind."

Tigger that all sounds bonkers, but strangely believable and a hell of a lot of coincidences occurring.
Its only somewhere my mind wanders to when I am very disheartened by the way the investigation is heading.
Thanks for links.

CEOP: (wiki)
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) is a command of the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA), and is tasked to work both nationally and internationally to bring online child sex offenders, including those involved in the production, distribution and viewing of child abuse material, to the UK courts.[1] The centre was formed in April 2006, and was absorbed into the NCA on 7 October 2013 by the Crime and Courts Act 2013.
Contents [hide]
1 Purpose and
CEOP combines police powers with expertise from the business sector, government, specialist charities and other interested organisations.
CEOP is made up of police officers with specialist experience of tracking and prosecuting sex offenders working with people from organisations including the NSPCC and Childnet, Microsoft and AOL. Partnerships have been set up across non-government bodies, including: Action for Children, NSPCC, Barnardos; business (Microsoft, AOL, Serco, Vodafone etc.) and UK Government departments (Department for Education; Home Office; Foreign and Commonwealth Office etc.). CEOP works with organisations such as The Scout Association, the Football Association, the England and Wales Cricket Board, BT, and Lycos to widen the scope of its work.[citation needed]
Budget[edit]
The CEOP's Home Office funding was frozen in 2010 and reduced by 10% over the subsequent three years. Staff numbers were increased during this period according to the CEOP, though former employees dispute this.[2] In 2012-13 the budget was £6 million[3] and there were 109 posts, which included 13 seconded police officers.[4] Additional money and resources came from the NSPCC, Google, Microsoft and BAE Systems Detica.[5]

Re: The year 2006
From the Wiki entry on PACT:
On 5 October 2005, Lady Catherine Meyer spoke at ICMEC to launch PACT's documentary “Victims of Another War: The Aftermath of Parental Alienation.”[16] It was then screened in England at the Lewis Centre before a large audience.
On 3 January 2006, UK newspaper The Sun joined with PACT’s call for the government to improve the gathering of statistics on missing and abducted children. The newspaper article featured ten children who had gone missing and asked readers to call the Police Missing Person’s Hotline if they saw anyone remotely resembling the children.[17]
Unquote
Was the connection with NCMEC (US) via PACT?
If a connection with Lady Meyer was made or existed in 2006, it explains GM's keen interest in linking up with all things US so very early.

A. CEOP was formed just months before Madeleine McCann was reported missing
JIM GAMBLE was the Director of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Service (CEOP). CEOP was actually a private company, funded by the government and by private sources (more below). It was first set up in 2006, the year before Madeleine McCann was reported missing. Since 2010, it has been merged with the Serious and Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), now the National Crime Agency.

i'm adding this abstract from the first post on the topic:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
i don't know the significance of the Nostradamus-like post, it speaks in riddles and there are no references.
However, filing this here to keep information on 2006 together.
Quote
Kate tells us that she became Kate McCann on that holiday, not the usual Kate Healy, but that's not true.
Whilst living at the Mews house in Queniborough between 2002 to 2006 Kate is registered as Kate Healy, even though she allegedly married the McCann chap in 1998.
Once the couple and their two children move into the Rothley house in January 2006, Kate quickly becomes Kate McCann.
On the 28, April 2006, Mr and Mrs McCann (not Healy) apply for planning permission to extend a building at the side of their house, this is the pivotal time when the name clearly changes.
The end result of the changes being that the two car garage has been altered to make the building into an extra long two car garage, there is no window, just a side door.

What a coincidence! Amanda Hart's company set up on the 28TH APRIL. This date must have great significance and will no doubt drive me crazy trying to make that all important connection. Haven't got time now to look but isn't Amanda Hart connected to Wales? Swansea in particular?

The pyschic connections are really baffling in this case - unless they were designed to propagate the idea that MBM was alive and findable, think of all the 'sightings' they could come up with, hence keeping the 'fund' going. But I maybe the cadaver scent put paid to that idea?
But would many people believe pyschics? It is surely just a step too far for many in a case that was already controversial.
All in my own opinion of course, nothing stated as fact.

Looking back at the riddle and the songs, the overall impression I get is that the poster is talking about a paedophile ring.
Is 'oozing leaking pile of yellow toast' an anagram of some kind? This is the only sentence that does not make sense.

Re: The year 2006
To me, 'an oozing leaking pile of yellow toast' could be a personal insult (directed towards the person who KM 'could have done better') and a threat to the same person.
An oozing leaking pile of (the word sh*t comes to mind as a natural conclusion to the statement) but the poster leaves the word sh*t as an inference and chooses the word yellow (cowardly) and then 'toast' meaning 'done for' as in 'you are toast!'

Well, I've chosen to ignore that bit from the post as it makes no sense to me and - please I'm not being bossy about this - to keep at least this on topic. Unless we get more information on the meaning of the toast and the man in the shot, I can't be bothered to try and solve a puzzle which may not even be one.
As the facts - all in the public domain are here in just a few pages, there are many things still to look at. E.g. What was Gary Titley doing in 2006? He was an MEP, we're entitled to know.
The quote about the annexe is not new information but that it happened in 2006 is a fact, so it goes in.
I'll put the reference to the building application in later as I'm trying to prove that these are facts.

I think the toast comment tells us a lot. This thread is about 2006, not the response to Christobel's thread in it's entirety, so I've put my toast thoughts on the other thread.

The Year 2006
tigger
Yes for me the most fascinating fact in your 2006 coincidences is that the IFLG was only 6 weeks old on May the3rd 2007.
The majority of the charities/quango's ( or whatever they are called these days) have made a great deal of capital - in cash terms or
kudos by becoming involved with the investigation of this particular missing child. It is ironic that Mr Amaral is/has been accused of
benefiting from his book by the media as they have fared very well themselves in terms of sales as have the various other parties over
the last 7 years.
Anyway back to IFLG.
It has been said that the IFLG were instrumental in setting up the WOC submission to The Family Divsion Court which always struck me as
curious. The IFLG solely deal in the abduction of children whose relatives are known. As far as I know and from what we are told a stranger
removed Madeleine from 5a not a relative so where does the IFLG and the Family Division play any part in the investigation?
Also I've never heard of a missing child ( wherabouts and status unknown) being represented by any Court - to me it is unprecedented and
evidence gathering and appeals usually are made by the investigating force. This is further complicated currently by the
Portuguese Civil Case being suspended whilst the Judge decides whether to accept Madeleine as one of the libelled party. I have read that
in British Law that you cannot libel or slander a person who is no longer alive. Therefore if Portuguese Law is the same then in order to libel an individual you may have to prove that the person is still alive. Being as the current team of the PJ are looking for a possible murderer
this adds a further impedement to the Civil Case. Obviously this is only an opinion and perhaps the Case has stalled for other reasons?
Some leagle eagles from Portugal might ask Lady Justice Hogg what her legal position is, as her Court and herself represent Madeleine's interests. Bearing in mind of course the current PJ investigation.

Re: The year 2006
Thanks, great insight XTC. I'm no legal expert and it seems the WoC issue is as sensitive as the car hire and the photographs.
Meanwhile, adding this to the 2006 saga:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Issued on Sept 2nd 2004
Expires Sept 2nd 2014

I believe this is a stamp from Miami Airport - on the 19th of January 2006. This has been discussed on the car topic by people who do know the various airport stamps.
Could have been a medical conference, but it's a contact with the US. Gerry visited a friend of his, whom he doesn't name, in Washington during his July trip in 2007.
It's not a big stretch of the imagination to wonder if he also met this friend on this occasion or indeed flew to Washington.
They were about to move into the Rothley house, I believe the contracts were being exchanged around the date that he was in Miami. So it's a curious time to take a trip.

Re: The year 2006
Cristobell's mysterious poster wrote:Kate tells us that she became Kate McCann on that holiday, not the usual Kate Healy, but that's not true.Whilst living at the Mews house in Queniborough between 2002 to 2006 Kate is registered as Kate Healy, even though she allegedly married the McCann chap in 1998.Once the couple and their two children move into the Rothley house in January 2006, Kate quickly becomes Kate McCann. On the 28, April 2006, Mr and Mrs McCann (not Healy) apply for planning permission to extend a building at the side of their house, this is the pivotal time when the name clearly changes.

Well, the poster on Christobell's blog claims Kate only became McCann in April/May 2006. S/he's right. Kate remained as Healy officially within her personal life as well as professionally as Dr Healy. Her passport shows us she remained Kate Healy certainly up to the time of the disappearance - those photocopies are dated August 2008 on the McCannpjfiles, so, in fact at least a year after the poster claimed Kate adopted the McCann name.
I'll put this on the Comment Left thread as well, as it is relevant to both subjects.
