The house where Robert Murat lived in Praia da Luz, Lagos, which was searched after Madeleine McCann's disappearance 15 years ago, has been sold and the new owner is building a complex of tourist flats on the site. This was once a site of interest in the Maddie investigation when the Briton was constituted as an arguido twelve days after the English child's disappearance.

Not sure where to place this, maybe there should be a topic of news from Portugal that are somehow connected to the MM case? I'm not buying another signature in Correio da Manhã, so it's just basically what one can read in the paywalled article. Thought of that nutty guy from Australia and how people are easily fooled by self-style gurus on the Maddie case that just end up being sensationalist liars.

I read this report somewhere very recently. Some bright spark of the public variety suggested a body will now be built over forever and remains will never be found.

From my experience of the construction industry and observation, when a property is demolished to make way for a new build, excavation is the first stage for the building foundation. What they don't do is build on existing foundations.

This is how forum myth is cultivated.

I actually emailed Natasha Donn last week about this and, although she doesn't live near Luz, she went out of her way to go there and check it out...she said:

I CAN CONFIRM the house has been demolished. Where it stood is now an outdoor area of a large orange house, and at the bottom of the garden there is the building of what looks like apartments. Where Maddie MIGHT have been buried (almost certainly isn't buried) is under paving stones, methinks... no apartments... and definitely NO STORY for us. It's just more sensationalist nonsense...
