On Sky News, Sir Bernard Hogan Howe has just referred to Kate and Gerry as "Maddie's parents" - he obviously isn't paying much attention to them! "There are always going to be complications when you've got one police force in one country working with the police force of another. We've both got to be sensitive to those things. The critical thing is, as Maddie's parents have said and we all support, they need to have some closure on this, they need to know what's happened to their daughter."

Martin Brunt says Andy Redwood and co want to interview 8 witnesses. He mentioned the suspects, whose homes they have been denied the right to search. Detectives may go on to look at some of the sites which are to be searched. He says the detectives were filmed having breakfast in a cafe this morning, which caused a media melee and Brunt described this as a PR disaster! They are now believed to be talking to Portuguese detectives. "This is certainly the start of a new and dynamic phase in the Madeleine McCann investigation, so for the first time we are seeing Scotland Yard Detectives on the ground in Portugal, ready to join their colleagues here in the search for tangible evidence of Madeleine McCann. Quite when that's going to start, it's not clear."

What would the English authorities do if the PJ demanded to search Rothley Towers, and seize any items they deemed of interest to the investigation, - like the urn on the mantlepiece !
I cannot imagine the McCanns would stand idly by.
More likely they would hire the best and most expensive lawyers to prevent it.

I don't think I've seen martin brunt look so uncertain about what he is saying.
IMO something major is about to happen and that is why the warning went out to be careful of what is being reported,something has happened in the background or is about to be announced.

As someone said the other day what would be interesting to know is exactly why the McCanns wanted people to think that 'woke and wandered' was definitely not a possibility. Could it be because, supposing MM's body had been found, a post mortem would have revealed something inconsistent with 'woke and wandered' such as a head injury or sedation? In the event of an abduction, any such findings could be explain as something the abductor had done?

Kate and Gerry ruling out the possibility that Madeleine had woken up and wandered off, focused the search away from the immediate area. It justified the group staying in the apartment phoning people in the UK instead of searching.

The PJ are going to have to keep a very 'beady' eye on ALL of the Met 'team', imo.

In case one of the 'elite Maddie Cops' slips off , down to the beach, or other sites, suggested by their 'clients' the McCanns, and 'deposits' 'something' (childs bones?? brought from UK?) and then 'suggests' the PJ 'dig/scan here' and 'miraculously' discover 'something'

all 'supposition' from me i might add.

But i know how the Met 'work' from experience.

What is becoming clear is that with a 'melee' of journalists out in Praia da Luz already, and maybe more to follow, and all needing to file lots of stories to justify their presence there, Madeleine McCann and her fate are going to be news for some time, unless of course the searches are over in a couple of days, which now seems highly unlikely.

Already all the McCann websites, forums, YouTube vids and blogs are reporting high extra traffic, CMOMM being no exception, with 500 to 700 regularly viewing the forum afternoon and evening.

That is correct. The statements of the tapas bar staff do not tally with the statements of the Tapas 9 in any way. And none of them mention Kate returning to the Tapas, screaming and hysterical, which you would think would be the exact type of thing they were paid to notice.

He's a tease isn't he? lol, must have known a statement like that would set us off!

They may be a red herring? SY also asked to search 3 properties, the homes of disgruntled ex-employees of Warners I believe, and the requests were, quite rightly, refused.

This case really is building up towards a grand finale, and we still can't predict what it will be! Doh! The witnesses must be Portuguese or ex-pats and they must still be local to the area. So will they pulling in the old lady who worked there as a cleaner, who lost her job, along with her daughters? Or perhaps the tapas cook, who had the audacity to tell the world the McCanns and their friends stayed in apartment 5A, whilst she and all the other workers searched for the lost child? Was it the man lurking in the shadows of the stairwell wearing sunglasses? Maybe the widow of tractorman? The digger that Martin Brunt mentioned the other day, that is the ejit who suddenly remembered he/she saw a man digging a hole the night Madeleine disappeared, but didn't think it was worth mentioning for 7 years.

Surely that's all over now. The case had precious little credibility when it started, and it has precisely zero now. Must be a formality, and if there is a way for the McCanns to withdraw their complaint and settle Amaral's costs, then I'm sure they are exploring it as we type.
