And this was more than a week after they had contacted the Charity.

Not saying that this case is definitely a hoax but remember this recent one of a girl found wandering in Dublin who was thought to have been a victim of sex traffickers?

I don't get it, if you were being held and you had access to a phone wouldn't you just call 999? How did they get this charity number.

The phone call to the charity was made by the Irish woman on 18 October who said two others were being held with her.

The charity contacted the police the same day and the information was passed on to the Met Police's Human Trafficking Unit on 21 October.

Further inquiries revealed the location of the house, and after "sensitive negotiations" by the charity the women agreed to meet with police at a location on 25 October.

The Irish woman and the British woman met the police and charity workers and showed the officers where they were being held.

Freedom Charity
Launched in December 2010 to help children suffering from forced marriage or "honour" violence or at risk
Founded by London magistrate Aneeta Prem, who wrote a children's book about forced marriage which is recommended by the government
Designed an app with the Metropolitan Police to help young people at risk of forced marriage
Also works with the Home Office and Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Has called on the government to keep records of children who do not return to school after summer holidays in order to monitor forced marriages

Ms Prem said of the initial contact with the Irish woman: "She said she had been held against her will.

"She was able to use a phone but that was done in a very secret way, the people in the house didn't know she had it.

"It was a process of just over a week where there was lots of phone calls and they gained the trust of the charity, and by doing that they felt confident to reveal enough information, and obviously the police were involved, and they managed to walk out of the house when nobody was around.

"We were waiting for them with the police and we managed to get them to a place of safety.

Just on lunchtime headlines, the charity spokeswoman saying it will be a long process ..... blah blah blah.

I wonder which process that would be?

Two 60+ year olds out on bail.  Decided they're not a threat to others presumably. That didn't take too long by contrast.

Time enough for everyone to go back to sleep by the sound of it.

Why didn't the police storm the house (as with the three women in Chicago) when they knew that there were people being held against their will?

I'm having another Monty Python STOP THIS IS GETTING SILLY moment.

Indeed, all very odd. I think Danny Shaw's analysis on the original link is very interesting.

Analysis
Danny ShawHome affairs correspondent, BBC News
The first reaction is shock: if true, how could three women have been held as slaves for 30 years in an ordinary house, in a busy neighbourhood, in a great capital city?
The questions will keep on coming. Did the neighbours suspect anything? Why didn't the women try to escape before? Did police, health workers or social services ever have cause to be concerned?
It's hard to believe that there was no such outside contact - especially given the police's belief that the 30 year old spent her childhood there.
The issue of domestic servitude has risen up the political agenda in recent months - this case is certain to ensure that it stays there.

Beginning to leak out. It was NOT what it seemed

Post by PeterMac on 22.11.13 15:02

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2511842/London-slave-house-suspects-looked-like-normal-family-arrested-1970s.html
The couple accused of keeping three women as slaves for at least 30 years were arrested in the 1970s, Scotland Yard admitted today.
But police have refused to say what they were accused of or if they were convicted as they investigate how they allegedly held their victims captive in secret for decades inside their Lambeth home.
The two suspects, a non-British couple also suspected of immigration offences, have been in the country for 'many years', but would have 'looked like a normal family', police have said.
The Met also revealed the victims - a 30-year-old British woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 69-year-old Malaysian woman - were beaten but not sexually abused.

New information: Scotland Yard said today that the couple at the centre of the alleged slavery case had been arrested in the 1970s but refused to say what for
The case 'so far is unique to us', police said and described a 'complicated and disturbing picture of emotional control over many years',Met commander Steve Rodhouse said.

Shocking ordeal of London slaves revealed: Malaysian woman, 69, 'had stroke but was denied medical help' and captors only saw daylight to hang out washing or help captors with shopping

He also revealed the pair were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences, and also in connection with alleged slavery and domestic servitude at their Lambeth home.
They were released on bail last night, but told they cannot return to their house, which police removed 2,500 items in 55 bags from overnight.
The women were rescued from a house in Lambeth in south London last month after one of them saw Aneeta Prem, founder of the Freedom Charity, on TV and contacted her charity for help.
Commander Steve Rodhouse said police are 'unpicking a story that spans at least 30 years of these women's lives'.
He said that to the outside world they may have appeared to have been a 'normal family'.
He said: 'This does mean that over the course of many decades the people at the heart of this investigation, and the victims, would probably have come into contact with public services, including our own.
'That's something we need to examine fully.'
He then said: 'What I can say with some certainty is that the two suspects in this case were arrested by the Metropolitan Police in the 1970s, some considerable time ago.'
No more details on those arrests were given.
He said the investigation will take 'some considerable time', and there are a number of lines of inquiry to follow up, numerous statements to take and lots of exhibits to examine.

Press conference: Speaking today Commander Steve Rodhouse (centre) spoke of trying to find out how the three women were held with 'invisible handcuffs'
Mr Rodhouse said police do not believe the case falls into the category of sexual exploitation or what is traditionally referred to as human trafficking.
'It is not as brutally obvious as women being physically restrained inside an address and not being allowed to leave,' he said.
He said police are trying to understand 'what were the invisible handcuffs being used to exert such a degree of control over these women'.
He said that to label the investigation as domestic servitude or forced labour is 'far too simplistic'.

Invisible handcuffs eh. Bet they wouldn't be invisible to JT. She'd spot them at 300 paces in the dark and tell you make and size. Next up invisibility cloaks so the good neighbours of Lambeth couldn't see anything suspicious.
