I think that it has to be very close to home if the implications of the affair can bring down cameron, at least one half of the relationship has to be. For me the only 2 that meet this criteria would be samcam or coulson. If brooks had an affair I don't think many would be the slightest bit shocked

SamCam just isn`t the type IMO and she doesn`t have a pending court case. Just my opinion though.

It`s not about people being shocked about Brooks having an affair - its what it implies. Someone has said its not as if its anything like the Profumo affair, but it is in a way, but dealing with Murdoch rather than Russians in the cold war.

    Look at the silhouettes.

In the past the press have used accurate silhouettes when they cannot name people and when it comes out it is obvious.

So who are these two? The man has a familiar look..... mark my words.

If it was Rebekah Brooks and a different AC, one much closer to Cameron than Coulson, then that might be enough to make people question her influence during pillow talk etc.

Government aides fear fallout from 'secret affair’ revelations

Revelations about a politically-significant romantic affair could cause problems for David Cameron’s government, aides fear.

The Prime Minister is said to have discussed the affair with advisers in recent days, amid concern about the political implications of any disclosure of the relationship.

For legal reasons, few details of the affair can be made public. However, it can be reported that the relationship, between two people described as middle-aged, ended several years ago.

It can also be reported that neither of the parties to the affair is a current member of the Cabinet. Downing Street declined to comment but Government sources privately expressed concern about the political fallout from any further revelations.

One source described the affair as “potentially very messy”, adding: “I’m glad I’m nowhere near that one. It’ll be a bit of a nightmare if it comes out.”

A report referring to the affair appeared on the front page of the Mail on Sunday. It gave no details of the affair but triggered widespread speculation in Westminster about the identity of the participants

Such speculation unnerved some Government figures — other than the affair highlighted yesterday, there are long-standing rumours suggesting extramarital affairs involving at least six senior people in or close to the Government

    (My bold)

Adding more fuel to the fire, This could open a real can of worms if true, Where's DC open and transparent Goverment, and to go where ever the evidence leads. Promises like pie crust easily crumbled, and to think these are people running our country, It's gone beyond a joke.

By inference then, at least one has been a cabinet Minister, so should be too hard to narrow down.
If the affair ended several years ago, what policies/agendas could have been sensitive to an historic affair? Were any laws or reforms brought in that fit the bill?

The Daily Mail said this story will run and run and more scandal in next Sunday's paper. Maybe they will give a few clues and print a better silhouette.

Roll on next Sunday I say. Doesn't look like we are going to get a definite naming before then and probably not after that because of the court case coming up, but at least the country is buzzing with gossip. lol.

From my 'continental' point of view I can't understand the fuss the British press and readers make about extra marital affairs of any kind. As far as I know, in NL, France and other countries it doesn't cause governments to fall unless it has led to fraud or high treason.

Whereas to my surprise committing fraud may cause the person in question only a temporary inconvenience, to be re-instated in no time and nothing more said about it. The Prince of Darkness comes to mind and quite a few others.

It's been going on for years, short memories? Here is a clip about Labour MPs - not content with receiving money for questions but for changing legislation.!
Now that I would call treason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTLA8NAoNDY

[quote="Snifferdog"]According to Kate’s notes, the days started or ended with meetings, phone calls and emails. Cherie Blair, the wife of Tony Blair, Gordon Brown’s predecessor, was one of Kate’s contacts, as demonstrated by the reports of the 17th of July. Before Kate gives Sky News an interview, she speaks with Cherie, who agrees to make a 20 second videoclip about Maddie for the English channel. On that same day, Blair himself pledges assistance and makes himself available for whatever is needed.

Tigger - AFAIAA the fuss isn`t about the affair per se - no one`s that bothered about who`s having it away with who IMO. It obviously has other implications regarding more serious matters because of the peeps involved and the court case pending. From what I`ve read it seems to have an influence over DCs goals and future plans.
