Single question to Kate

Post by PeterMac on 22.06.14 9:06

"If the curtains were in fact wide open, why did you say they were tight closed,
or if in fact they were tight closed, why did you say they were wide open ?"

I am trying for  a question which forces the issue contained within itself.

PeterMac, the very first of the '48 questions' the Portguese police asked Kate was this-

1. On May 3 2007, around 22:00, when you entered the apartment, what did you see? What did you do? Where did you look? What did you touch?

Do you think it possible that they were checking to see if Kate actually went into the apartment before she raised the alarm? Thus explaining the curtain story changes?

I don,t think she entered the apartment until 10.30 otherwise Mrs Fenn would have heard something.

I don't see why Kate refused to answer this perfectly reasonable first question.  She had no idea there would be 48 others.

Things that make you go hmm...

Anyway, I'd ask her this one again.

If, for the pj there was no strangers fingerprints found on any doors, handles or windows, then is it not simple enough to come to the conclusion that there was NO STRANGER there at all. Fwiw, no strangers fingerprints were found, and that's why maddie could not have been abducted. The public aren't stupid and just want the truth, and so should her family all IMO
Could he/she have worn gloves? Opps, gloves were recorded in the drawer at the villa, but, they're doctors so maybe they used them for something else? They looked awful dirty too! IMO

How in the hell are k&g learning to live without maddie even though it's painful, when they believe she's alive and well waiting to be found!  wft  People IMO, learn to live without a loved one when they've "gone", "moved on" in other words passed away! offtopic  I'm sorry!

When our loved ones have been 'taken' from us by death we have little option but to move on but ime few of us, no matter how 'stoic' we may be, are able to do so in a matter of days unless the departed were not particularly dear to our hearts, Jfm.

Which version of your various descriptions of what happened would you like us to believe, and why should we believe this version when you have already asked us to believe all of the other versions?

It is never a good idea to ask compind questions as it allows the subject to pick and choose which part to answer,
You do not know what question  they are answering.

Ask a single opened ended question and allow the subject to choose where they want to start.

Where they start is what is important to them, what their priority is.

If they ask, Where do i start?

You say, From the beginning.

If they ask, What do you want to know?

You reply, Everything.

If they say , It will take a long time.
You say, Tell me what is important for me to know.

If they say , Ask me specific questions and then i will tell you.

You say, How can I ask you if I don’t know?  Answer me and then I’ll ask you specific questions.

The subject wants to know what you know, this can indicate guilty knowledge or guilt
,
It allows them to lie

Peter Hyatt has a great post on this

Measuring Time and Form in A Statement
