Parents Kate and Gerry hope the previously unseen footage will boost the hunt for their daughter who vanished in Portugal on May 3, 2007 just before she turned four.

The new image of Maddie in make-up, pink hair ribbon and gold bead necklace is shown along with stills of her sucking on a lolly and reclining playfully. The video also has footage of doctors Kate and Gerry, both 42, handing out posters in Portugal and sifting through leads at home in Rothley, Leics. It ends: “Thank you for not giving up on Madeleine. Together we can bring her home.”
It was released after the couple flew to Portugal last week to beg cops to restart their search for Madeleine who has now been missing 1,096 days. Gerry said: "There are clues that weren't investigated." Leads can be passed to www.findmadeleine.com or call 0845 838 4699.

There was a lot about it on Twitter - the day before the GMTV interview, they were spotted on the station - and there are pics on a professional news photographer site:

Apparently it seems they had been to Portugal on the quiet to get the case re-open. It was reported in the Portuguese Press. I will see whether I can find it.
Why is it so quiet on the forum? Where is everybody?
Hello people, where are you? I miss you.

I think they've asked for "renewed investigation" not the case re-opening (from twitter):
KeirSimmonsITV
#McCann's flew to Portugal last week to push for renewed investigation according to British newspaper.
I think there are sightings they want investigated

The McCanns require the Portuguese Justice to reopen the investigation on 'Maddie'
The parents of Madeleine McCann, the British girl who disappeared in southern Portugal three years ago, said Saturday that the authorities will be asked to reopen the investigation lusas to pursue a "new track."
Gerry and Kate McCann reported this week that British justice has "abandoned" the search for her daughter and asked the Government to review the case. Now parents of 'Maddie' in Portugal are demanding the same to local authorities. "We will ask to reopen the investigation, which is why we are here," said Gerry McCann told the magazine 'Expresso'.
Detectives working for the British couple had "identified a new line of research," said the father of the girl, who disappeared on May 3, 2007, when he was about to turn four years, during his family vacation Praia da Luz. However, Gerry McCann refused to offer further details: "The roads leading to other tracks and we have to convince the authorities to weave."
After 14 months of investigation, the Portuguese Justice decided to close the case. The McCanns, convinced that his daughter was kidnapped, launched a major media campaign to defray the expenses of their detective and find the little 'Maddie'.

The make up photo is like a precusor to something about to break. Else I dont understand why they even think of using such an image.
The advice must have come from CM (guessing) because that was already shown to crowd at the posh GALA,
