My apologies, parapono.  Hopefully this link will work http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/rolf-harris-trial-star-sinister-3669881 and if I can locate the Mail article again I'll come back with the correct link to it.

This is the Mail's account of the prosecution's closing speech on Day 19 of the trial: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2653957/Rolf-Harris-described-untouchable-world-famous-childrens-entertainer-pattern-deviant-sexual-behaviour-child-sex-trial-prosecutor-sums-case.html

Eta that the reason the previous link to the Mail article didn't work is that I omitted to leave a space between the colon and http://www. etc.

Nasty indeed if that gets blocked!

If, when you have entered a link, it does not appear in red, you'll know that there is something wrong and that it won't work. That at least is how it appears on my computer.

It's best to put it on a separate line.

As for Mr H, I have no idea which way the jury will decide.

big grin @ PeterM and NFWTD - I shall endeavour to heed your advice.

The prosecution gave its closing speech on Tuesday since when it would appear that the court has not sat which is most unusual at this particular stage in the proceedings.

Of late the jury has spent more time out of court than in it while legal arguments have been heard.  Having reservations with regard to certain witnesses for the prosecution, I am wondering whether the past 3 days have also been taken up with legal argument and whether the trial will resume on Monday with the closing speech for the defence.

Day 20: the defence gives its closing speech http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/rolf-harris-recap-veteran-entertainers-3703118  Sonia Woodley's illness may be the reason why there has been 3 day delay.

The Mirror seems to be a doing a 2-for-1 update as the above link currently contains information relating to Michael Schumacher - I wish him and his family well and hope that he will fully recover from his brain injury. .

Day 23: The judge has concluded his summing up and the jury has been sent out to consider their verdict http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/rolf-harris-trial-live-jury-3722151 However, it appears the jury will not begin their deliberations until tomorrow afternoon as one of the jurors has an 'urgent appointment'.

Day 28: the jury have asked for directions: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/rolf-harris-trial-recap-updates-3766860

Is it the reporter or the foreman of the jury who can't spell? Either way, the questions put to the judge are unlikely to inspire confidence on either side.,

Whitewash / cover-up ?

Post by PeterMac on 30.06.14 15:38

Surely the recent series of Guilty verdicts would have been the ideal people for Whitewash or coverup.
Too long ago, evidence tainted by the passage of time, implanted false memory syndrome, total lack of corroboration, insufficient evidence, and in any event not in the public interest to put a very old man with a disabled wife through this ordeal,

But they went ahead.
As Cameron said the other day, Coulson's conviction on one count proves that no one is above the law.
(And with Coulson there IS to be a re-trial on the charges where the jury failed to agree)

From the Daily Mail home page:

His army of supporters, including suited security guards and representatives from PR giant Bell Pottinger who attended every day of the trial, could do nothing to change the verdict of the jury of six men and six women.

Good Grief. could do nothing to change the verdict of the jury of six men and six women.
May we ask in what way they TRIED to change the verdict, or to influence it.

More a rhetorical comment, I think. Pointing to the fact that Bell Pottinger's remit as a PR firm would be to try and change and manipulate opinion against negative facts concerning their clients. And obviously this verdict is quite beyond their reach.

Blood and cadaver alerts
dismissed by UK Government

Retired DCI Gonçalo Amaral: "The English can always present the conclusions to which they themselves arrived in 2007. Because they know, they have the evidence of what happened - they don't need to investigate anything. All this is now a mere 'show off'."

Retired murder DCI Colin Sutton: "I would also like to make the point that Operation Grange was so restricted from the start as to be destined to fail."

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley made public on national TV that Operation Grange is a complete fraud.

Ex-DCI Andy Redwood had a "revelation moment" on BBC's Crimewatch on 14th October 2013 when he announced that Operation Grange had eliminated the Tanner sighting - which opened up the 'window of opportunity', in accordance with their remit, to allow the fake abduction to happen.

Despite "irrelevant behaviour" from blood and cadaver dogs in the McCann's apartment, on Kate McCann's clothes, and in the car they hired three weeks after Maddie disappeared, Ex-Chief Inspector, Ian Horrocks, said: "The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter is frankly preposterous."

Gerry McCann called for example to be made of 'trolls'. SKY News reporter Martin Brunt doorstepped Brenda Leyland on 2 October 2014. She was then found dead in a Leicester hotel room. Brenda paid the price. She paid with her life.

Ex-Deputy Chief Constable, Jim Gamble QPM, congratulated SKY reporter, Martin Brunt, on twitter for doorstepping Brenda Leyland on behalf of Gerry McCann.
