When Jane 'almost' asked GM what was taking him so long

Post by suzyjohnson on 10.04.14 21:40

If GM left the tapas at 9.04 pm (by his watch)

then he would have arrived at 5A by 9.05 pm (9.06 pm if he had walked all the way round and entered the apartment using his key)

9.07 pm - looked in on the children

9.08 pm - went to the toilet

9.09 pm, back on the street talking to Jez (a 3-5 min conversation, so 9.09 pm - 9.14 pm)

Along comes JT. who sees them talking, so - 9.10 pm - 9.13 pm

She 'almost' asked GM what had taken him so long

JT must have left the tapas at 9.09 pm - 9.12 pm (she had been talking to KM about what was taking GM so long, and KM said he was probably watching football)

Yet, GM couldn't have been away from the tapas for more than about 5 mins (8 mins maximum)

Why would they be asking what was taking him so long?

In the Mockumentary, Jane said that they were wondering if Gerry was taking so long because he was watching football.

On the first handwritten timeline, it says that Gerry was in 'the TV room'.  It also says '? did he check', which makes me wonder about the purpose of Gerry's visit to 5A - if it was solely to do a check then surely this question would be academic?  The way the timeline is written it looks to me as if Gerry was just in 5A in the 'TV room', and checking might have been something that he might have done while he was there.

Two of the Tapas bar statements state that Gerry was away from the table for at least half an hour.  One of the statements says that Kate left the table immediately on Gerry's return.

On the specific point you made suzy, yes indeed Jane Tanner had no reason to ask Gerry what was taking him so long, he had only been away for minutes :)
