'Madeleine, we're still looking for you. Tell someone who your mummy and daddy are' - McCANN PLEA ON 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF DISAPPEARANCE

Kate and Gerry McCann last night made an emotional appeal to their daughter Madeleine to mark the third anniversary of her disappearance.
Her father, now 41, reassured the little girl: "Madeleine, we're still looking for you. Tell someone who your mummy and daddy are, who you are."
His wife said they would not stop searching for their child, who was nearly four when she went missing from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 while her parents dined with friends nearby.
Kate, 42, said: "We love you very much, Madeleine, and we're not going to stop what we're doing."
The couple, from Rothley, Leicestershire, will mark Monday's anniversary in private but revealed they now feel less guilty about enjoying themselves in her absence.
Kate said: "I'm able to look at it now and think it's positive we're functioning. It's positive for Madeleine and for Sean and Amelie (her five-year-old twin siblings) and unless you're in this situation you have no idea how you cope."
Gerry said that laughter and happiness were essential for living a normal life.
"The guilt, where you feel 'Madeleine is missing so how can you enjoy yourself?' is much, much, much less than it was," he revealed. "If you're going to have some sort of normality, you've got to have some laughter and some joy."
He also said that there were new leads to follow. He added: "Our private investigators have identified new information that needs investigating and other areas where we think there could be further meaningful information.
"But we have to be realistic. We do not have the same ability to follow up lines of inquiry that the police do."
However, the authorities, he complained, had hardly been providing a "Rolls-Royce service".
He said: "The key test is, 'Has everything that could reasonably have been done, been done?' And the answer to that is no. There's no law enforcement that's been pro-actively doing anything for 18 months."

Maybe if they hadn't let the deadline pass for the investigation to remain open then those lines of enquiries would have been investigated by now?

Re: Tell someone who your mummy and daddy are
All very strange imo. They are saying some pretty odd things lately. They are directly talking to Madeleine now, but haven't in the last 3 years?? When KM was asked in an interview to say something to Madeleine, she just looked down and said she knows we love her. They lay into the PJ and British police for not doing enough, but now want their help because the PI's don't have the same ability to follow up enquires as the police can. They surely knew that all along, so why waste all that money, it seems to have got them nowhere, except to have to go back and ask for the help of the police, which they should have done when the case was shelved. It just has to be said, why wait 3 whole long years Had they participated in the reconstruction, and answered all those questions, things perhaps might have been different

Do you know, I would hate to be Sean or Amelie when they're old enough to get on the internet and start researching what happened to their sister. Especially when they find Kate's latest comments about how she wished they were all dead.
God help those twins.
God help those twins.

Spoooky - you echoed my thoughts exactly.
Just to add, all their recent interviews seem aimed at drawing to a close.
I doubt they will keep up the same publicity level from next year, at least not from their own accord, unless some circumstances compelled them so.
What better way to exit by excusing their PIs and laying the blame squarely back at the police forces.
They know v. well the police have stopped looking for Maddie. Nothing will happen further, which is just up their aisle.
They are home and dry; better still if they no longer have to keep up the pretense.
They have kept it up long enough - must be tiring playing this persistent game over and over again.
Besides, they must realise by now if they continue in the same vein year in and year out they will only end up looking more ridiculously foolish.
Yeah, I think they are making their final curtain call now.
