Could it be that those new rogatory letters sent to Portugal have to do with the reconstruction?
The Met police are not allowed to do it themselves because the crime happened in Portugal and the PJ have to do it.
I remember that the reconstruction was a part of the plan of the Yard's. When the review ( or the investigation?) was happening, the Yard had already questions to persons in Algarve and the PJ were interrogating them on its behalve.
Did they finally arrive at the reconstruction?
My questions are logical, I think, because what the Met had to interrogate in Algarve is already done.
Why again rogatory letters unless they are about the evening/night of May the 3rd?

Why new rogatory letters ?
Are they already that far?
Is the reconstruction imminent?

Send rogatory letters to Portugal, announce it to the British media and make it look like you are doing something productive ?

There won't be another 'deconstruction' in either Portugal or the UK until after the trial.
Until then, all/any 'rogatory diligences' are but another turn of the screw on the Iron Maiden.

Re: correio da manha
It is known that the PJ interrogated many people, on behalve of the Yard and the Yard came up with 38 persons
of interest. Those 38 ( none of them belonging to the Tapas)increased to 41, 3 more persons of interest and Redwood did not say they were not part of the Tapas.
We should think that all of the rogatory letters were finished but now we learn that the Met sent a request to Portugal, about new ones.
There are rumours about 3 suspects.
My theory is that the reconstruction is the goal of those new letters.
The crimewatch was concentrated on the Smithsman, the last one did not insist on the innocence of the McCanns and their friends and now we get the new request from the Met.
I believe the reconstruction will happen very soon.

Would any of this activity fit in with the visit of the CPS to Portugal last Spring?

I think so. The CPS went last April, there is a photo of the McCanns at the beginning of May (3rd?)where they look destroyed, on July the 4th the Yard started with the investigation.
My theory is that when the CPS visited Portugal, they were convinced of Madeleine's fate, that is why they agreed with the investigation.
Millions of official procedures, gosh!, and finally we got to those new rogatory letters.
I think of Gerry's words the day Kate launched her book: "we want action, not rethoric!"
Kate's: "if you are a prime minister, you have a responsibilitÿ..."
Good Lord, they regret, don't they?
