The only key they haven't got yet is the "key piece of evidence" that Gerry's always talking about that will open the door to the "complete mystery" of who "abducted" their daughter...that's the reason they want a gullible public to think  they've re-opened their "charity" shop I suppose. laugh

That would the key they left under the doormat then? It's about the only method of ingress they haven't used yet  big grin

Long-time lurker but rare poster...please be gentle.

Re: the above post (which may have been tongue-in-cheek:- apologies if not), could there be an element of truth in that?

PJ/SY both know dog findings are damning, point in one direction but, as in 2007, cannot be used on own;
Through local knowledge since then, PJ know that burglars DID enter but, as stated, legged it when body was found behind sofa Through self-preservation burglars kept quiet at time but, as with most secrets, this has became knowledge now;
If PJ bring burglars in on own to then point finger at McCann's, there would be no credibility amongst gullible masses who swallow Lorraine Kelly's crap (Portuguese set-up etc.), so need SY to initiate it (SY even being seen to 'force' it through);
PJ 'reluctantly' allow SY to question 'suspects' on 'child abduction' and they then tell truth about their doing a runner, with, most importantly, SY believing it. Eddie and Keela findings are then available to back up testimony given by burglars;
SY seen as heroes for solving case with PJ (and Mr Amaral) original findings being vindicated for all to see.

Sorry if already put forward and, as already requested...please be easy on me as a newbie.

Hello Bobby,

Could be a scenario. But: in view of the Mecs' valuables ready and visible on the table (wallet, phone(s), camera(s); why would any burglar(s) even look behind a sofa?

Hi Portia - thanks for welcome.

Being 3 burglars and knowing that kids were in other room (having watched McCann's going out on previous occasions), they split up in the living room area only. 1 immediately found body - wallet etc. then become irrelevant and swift escape a priority.

Maybe she was in the closet where the cadaver dog marked,and the first thing the burglars did was to look in the closet,panicked and ran out without things.
Often,people hide valuables among clothes in closets when they are on holiday
I do so myself.

Again a possibility.

Then ran out in different directions, followed by flurry of phone calls to 'get stories straight'.

Also, if I was a burglar (probably known earlier), in those circumstances, I would do everything to make it NOT look like a burglary.

2 in the apartment, 1 being a lookout is possible, I would say.

P.S. I am not a burglar!

They wouldn't have - they did a runner.

Gerry was still Smithman with Madeleine, unaware of the attempted burglary earlier, in theory.

I think it's a possibility Bobby18, three burglars in the area the police want to know did any one of them see anything suspicious either inside or outside the apartment. It's also possible that anyone in the apartment would notice someone who had had a fatal accident before they had taken anything from the apartment (and would anyone want to keep anything from the apartment anyway if they had discovered such an accident?)

It's also possible that burglars kept quiet about anything they witnessed, but if the police are actually accusing them of a serious crime then they might wish to say what happened. If GM was involved in MM's disappearance, and burglars were at or in the apartment this would be an unhappy coincidence for him. However, with all the movements of the Tapas seven that night (as told in their witness statements) when would burglars have had the opportunity to go anywhere near apartment 5A without being seen? If burglars were in any apartments nearby then they may be able to disprove the statements of the Tapas group .........

So several possibilities to move the case forward there

bobby18, so what you're saying is, the 3 burglars could provide the extra evidence needed by the police to add to the dogs' findings to enable a trial, the dogs' evidence being insufficient on it's own?

Do you think they're real or a concoction created by the 2 investigations in order to bring this new evidence into being? A bit like SY created Crecheman (in my opinion) in order to eliminate Tannerman and move the investigation forward over here?

they werent very good burglars because they dont appear to have managed to pull off a single successful raid, ever (the only previous one in Praia was also bungled). how do they manage to make a living?

The original Mail story on page 1 of this thread says: Following the Yard phone breakthrough, informal discussions have taken place about arresting the three burglars and searching their homes and other sites.

If they are burglars, and the police know where their homes are, why havent they already been arrested for being burglars?

Yes, but what if those imaginations belong to SY and the PD? Extra evidence is needed to conclude this case and appears to have proven to be impossible to find. 'Someone' witnessing a body in situ could, all of a sudden, provide that missing link.

Hi Suzy,

I would give SY the benefit of doubt and say they were part of it but not the be all to end all. I think most posters would be of the opinion that there were no regular checks and statements are a damage limitation to show 'reasonable parenting' , so burglary could have happened at any point between 7.30 - 9.30?

Mods - I'm new to this, so please keep me right on wording if I overstep. Thanks.

Debs,

Fair point but press releases are consistently being treated skeptically. Why should the contents of that report be any different.

Post by Cristobell on 12.01.14 11:16

I'm struggling to understand how SY can identify 3 suspects in PDL, from their base in central London. They have no knowledge of the language, the area or the population. To identify petty criminals operating in the area, they would need the co-operation of the local underworld, tip offs etc, from those on the periphery of society.

If we imagine the crime having occurred in a British seaside town, we can begin to see the major obstacles faced by SY. Would a team of Portuguese detectives be able to operate effectively in Butlins Skegness, for example?

I don't believe for one minute ANY such burglars have been detected through phone records or any other means for that matter.

It is totally unverified. More likely IMO, is the recent disclosure that the investigation and review have cost the public purse 6 million quid with nothing to show for it in a time of cuts and austerity and this is merely a smokescreen to deflect public attention.

These ridiculous stories ALWAYS arise when there is a court case or other negative "vibe" going down in the direction of the McCanns, and IMO this is just another example of this tired and laughable tactic.

If you think about it, Scotland Yard have NEVER categorically stated that they KNOW Madeleine was abducted. OK so they said they would treat the review as if the "abduction" happened in GB, BUT they have still NEVER made an absolute statement to this effect.
