Bexley mum helps Madeleine McCann case after daughter nearly snatched
1:21pm Thursday 28th November 2013 in Bexley

A MUM from Bexley has told detectives working on the Madeleine McCann case of the chilling moment her daughter was nearly abducted in Gran Canaria.
Mother Lisa Allen, 38, was on holiday in the resort of Puerto Rico with daughter Jessica, then aged six, and son Gary, who was four at the time, when the incident occurred.
Too nervous to report the incident to the Spanish authorities as a young mum on her first trip abroad, it was not until Ms Allen saw a recent BBC Crimewatch programme on Madeleine McCann that she came forward to tell her story.
The links between Jessica’s near abduction and the case of Jeremy Vargas, who vanished from his home in Gran Canaria aged seven on March 10 last year, also brought back horrible memories for Ms Allen of when her daughter was nearly snatched in October 2000.
On a visit to a market during the holiday, the mother-of-five was pushing Gary in his buggy and talking to her brother Daniel, 34, while Jessica was walking a few yards ahead.
Suddenly, Ms Allen looked up and saw a man grabbing her daughter by the top of her arm and marching her quickly away between two stalls.
The full-time mum told News Shopper: "I let go of the buggy, ran over and grabbed his opposite arm.
"He didn’t say anything – he just looked at me with a big smirk on his face and a big grin like he knew he had been caught.
"He was quite big, stocky and tanned and he just turned around and walked away at a really quick pace.
"If I had looked up a few seconds later Jessica would 100 per cent have been gone."
Ms Allen has since spoken twice to Metropolitan Police detectives investigating three-year-old Madeleine McCann’s disappearance from a holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.
And Ms Allen, who lives with Jessica in Mount Pleasant Walk, Bexley, said the near miss made her much more worried for her children.
Jessica Allen, now 19, works at a call centre in Dartford and has vivid memories of the terrifying moment in 2000 when she was nearly wrenched from her family by a complete stranger.
The former Cleeve Park School pupil said: "I remember pinching him and scratching him and trying to get him off me.
"I didn’t scream because I just didn’t think about it. The guy just basically laughed in mum’s face.
"I do sit and actually think if it weren’t for my mum seeing me in those last couple of seconds I might have been gone.
"To this day, I will be out on the street and I will still worry about it and I am very conscious of people around me."

Things like this make me so angry
Why can they not see that it weakens their stance and insults the little girls memory all in one fell swoop
I give up when I see this and at other times I think it shows how desperate they are and I have hope

So, different MO, different country, seven year time gap. Bound to be related.

Re: Bang on 'CUE'
Noddy, it insults their own daughter as well. If we accept their story at face value, she was the victim of a tangible, witnessed abduction attempt. How is that relevant to the McCann case?noddy100 wrote:FGS

"Mum, mum, me picture is in the Bexley News Shopper. does that mean i am a famous, local, zlebrity?"
"Mum, mum, why didn't Uncle Daniel beat the crap out of that big, stocky and tanned, bloke that tried to 'abduct' me?"
"mum, mum, i is well famous now, in Bexley, innit?"
"Mum, mum, can i go on X-Factor now?"
Etc, etc.

Re: Bang on 'CUE'
But of course it's the same man, practicing at the time, working up to more complicated methods, daily lifting of shutters, refining his stalking capabilities, different make- up ... Spots, moustaches..Clay Regazzoni wrote:So, different MO, different country, seven year time gap. Bound to be related.
I'm waiting for the next instalment ' how I persecuted myself for not getting an e-fit made, little Maddie would never have been abducted..'
SY should be on to this like a shot, seems to be just what they're looking for.

SIX weeks ago AR 'knew' the name of 'abductor' so why the need for a CW 'update'?
Andy 'knows' who it was!
He also seems to have 'forgotten' to tell the UK public who this child snatching 'abductor' is.
So the great British public could tell him if they have seen him lurking.
Would AR be culpable if a child had been 'abducted' by this man in the last six weeks?
Just asking.

Andy still has a few hours to put together an age progression picture of this suspect....
“He was quite big, stocky and tanned and he just turned around and walked away at a really quick pace."
I give you "Big Stocky walks very quick" man (with a tan-but presumably only in the summer months).

That should read "Quite Big Stocky walks very quick" man.
Though he is now 13 years older so he may have shrunk a little, perhaps grown a beard and slowed down a bit.

Re: Bang on 'CUE'
Just to add to the wonderful accuracy of the article, the name of the Spanish boy is Yeremi Vargas and he has been missing since 2007, not 2012.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
His name is wrong there too.

Re: Bang on 'CUE'
Time was when this would have been front page news, splashed across all of the tabloids and accompanied by the customary comments from 'a family source' but now the only report of this once young mother's experience is in the Bexley Shopper, that well-known investigative weekly which probes the special offers available in the town's supermarkets
Has the prospective parliamentary candidate for Brighton Pavillion lost his touch? Or have the major news titles decided that 'Tanman', who may now be 'Zimmerframeman', isn't worth a mention until his e-fit to appears on Crimewatch in what may be one of a long running series of updates?

Re: Bang on 'CUE'
If there was any bl**** justice AR would be given a life sentence on a Time Progression Treadmill where he would be required to update the e-fit of Big Stocky Man every hour on the hour right round the clock until he screams:jeanmonroe wrote:With a face of a big brown egg!Lioned wrote:Andy still has a few hours to put together an age progression picture of this suspect....

"Yeah yeah, I needed to underSTAND how I drove the nation mad with my ridiculous e-fits and it is very imporTANT that anyone coming forward with very imporTANT information should not have their brains addled by ridiculous e-fits before they get here.
Hopefully, gibbering dies away, to be replaced by quiet sobbing.

Today's Mirror article lists: a source, a pal and a friend of the family.ultimaThule wrote:Time was when this would have been front page news, splashed across all of the tabloids and accompanied by the customary comments from 'a family source' but now the only report of this once young mother's experience is in the Bexley Shopper, that well-known investigative weekly which probes the special offers available in the town's supermarkets

Methinks just the one then. I am sorry we've been denied the wisdom of Philomena who never failed to entertain rather than inform.
This story could still come up in the tabloids I think, a news story from an independent source - the Olive Press has done this over the years, generated nonsense stories to give to the tabloids ,'washed' through a minor newspaper.
Yeremy Vargas was killed by someone he knew, the karate teacher I believe. Someone he knew and trusted. Different case altogether.
Can we have that tortoise back now? Found after thirty years - Gerry and Kate would be about 70 by then.

Re: Bang on 'CUE'
If you google Sardine Man, you get a load of pictures of possible suspects.
He would be able to hide in a confined space so that solves the mystery of where he was when Gerry thought he might have been in the apartment at the same time he was.

I made a comment on another thread to the effect that it seems to me the tabloids have drawn lots and, having drawn the short straw, the Mirror's had to become the conduit for TM to vent their spleen.tigger wrote:Today's Mirror article lists: a source, a pal and a friend of the family.ultimaThule wrote:Time was when this would have been front page news, splashed across all of the tabloids and accompanied by the customary comments from 'a family source' but now the only report of this once young mother's experience is in the Bexley Shopper, that well-known investigative weekly which probes the special offers available in the town's supermarkets

Last week the Mirror published an article making a number of misleading claims about the libel trial which could only have come from TM and which were designed to rubbish Dr Amaral.
This week it's the PJ who are being rubbished and it's unlikely to be coincidental that both of these articles appeared on the days immediately following the latest court sessions in Lisbon.
It's my understanding 'Gerry the Heart Specialist' no longer has any direct contact with patients as he took up a position in the backroom of medicine commonly known as 'research' some considerable time ago. I suspect a number of Leics tickers began beating more soundly on receipt of that particular news.
What has happened to Phil and her faux pearls of wisdom? Could it be she made too many faux pas?

Oh well, after no mention on CW looks like 'our Jess' will not be giving up the 'day job' anytime soon.
However, there is hope for her.
She is in the right place, to take a call, should Simon Cowell (McCann 'donator') 'call' her at 'work' to ask her on to X-Factor or BGT!
