Peter Bleksley: What right does he have to comment on the Madeleine McCann investigation?

On seeing that Peter Bleksley is about to present a report on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, let us hope he does better than the blundering Ian Horrocks, whose long reports in July 2012 and October 2013 were well below substandard. In his second report, he had – most embarrassingly – to withdraw his cast-iron certainty in his first report that Jane Tanner was telling the truth and that this really really was Madeleine McCann that she saw being taken away. DCI Redwood took the floor from underneath his feet by referring to his ‘revelation moment’ of finding ‘the man form the creche’. So it wasn’t Madeleine after all. We had said so for over 6 years. Now the Met’s finest agreed.

But back to Peter Bleksley. Here are 6 items that tell us quite a bit about him. Before that, PeterMac has established that despite all the praise being heaped on him, he never rose from the lowest rank for detectives: Detective Constable. He also admitted to having been mentally ill.

Rather like Mark Williams-Thomas, he is a failed detective who has wormed his way into being a media commentator. And as ‘He who pays the piper calls the tune’, we can be sure that Pater Bleklsey is the sort of chap who can be relied on to say just what the media want him to say.

ITEM 1: The Guardian article, on Plebgate

Peter Bleksley rushes to judgment about Andrew Mitchell
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/sep/21/andrew-mitchell-whip-policeman-pleb

theguardian.com, Friday 21 September 2012 17.26 BST

QUOTE

If Andrew Mitchell did call the police 'plebs', he wouldn't be the first.

As a former police officer, I've been wondering if the moneyed classes have hijacked zero tolerance for their own ends

[Picture] Andrew Mitchell has apologised after an altercation with police at Downing Street.

I was interested to see the government chief whip, Andrew Mitchell, adopting a zero tolerance policy towards a police officer who refused to open a gate for him at Downing Street this week. I was under the impression that it was the police who adopted zero tolerance policies, but that's clearly not the case here or else Mitchell, if he behaved as reported in the Sun, would surely have found himself being carted off to the local nick. He has denied calling the police "fucking plebs" when they refused to open the street's gates for him, but he has apologised for what was clearly an angry tirade following a polite request.

Mitchell would appear to be worth a few quid, and I've been wondering recently whether the moneyed classes have hijacked zero tolerance for their own ends.

A recent trip to Knightsbridge (it was work!) gave clear evidence of this. I saw traffic wardens, shop assistants, and waiters subjected to rudeness and worse, by people who were clearly loaded. It appeared to me that most of this bile was being spilt over pretty trivial things.

I witnessed another unpleasant example of zero tolerance being applied by a well-spoken and expensively dressed man this week. He just made it on to a train before it pulled out of the station, and no sooner had he made himself comfortable with his copy of the FT, than a ticket inspector appeared. The passenger explained that he had not had the time to buy a ticket at the station, so the inspector duly set about telling him that he would have to pay a £20 penalty. The man went ballistic. Quite what he hoped to achieve I don't know, but the ticket inspector showed great restraint and calm while listening to this man's abuse. To the inspector's great credit he did not threaten to call the police, choosing rather to wait until he had finished spouting forth. When the penalty fine was eventually paid the man peeled a £20 note from a wad of notes that would have choked a donkey.

To the best of my knowledge this man was not a member of the cabinet. His abuse did not achieve anything, nor apparently did the rant of Mitchell because the gate was not opened for him, but surely it would not be so widely applied by wealthy people if it did not bring results.

I appreciate that these examples do not represent the most scientific of research, so this weekend I am going to behave as though I am wealthy and I will adopt a zero tolerance policy towards anybody I deem to be in a position of authority or whose services I need. I will publish the results soon, so watch this space.

ITEM 2

Peter Bleksley holds forth in the Mail on Sunday on Mark Kennedy, the undercover police officer who had long-term relationships with women he was spying on

16 January 2011 Last updated at 10:29 GMT

Ex-undercover Pc Mark Kennedy 'living in fear'

Mark Kennedy says he left the police force in 2009

Ex-undercover officer Pc Mark Kennedy has said his "world has been destroyed" after his covert work was exposed.

The case against six green activists accused of conspiring to shut down a power station collapsed after he said he would testify for the defence.

Mr Kennedy told the Mail on Sunday his secret work had "jeopardised" his life.

And he claimed he was now being made a scapegoat for the failure of the trial when, in fact, "a lot of mistakes" were made in the operation's handling.

The former Pc led a double life, serving as a Metropolitan Police officer while posing as an activist known as Mark "Flash" Stone, involved in the green movement since 2000.

On Monday, the trial of six men allegedly involved in a protest at Nottingham's Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in 2009 was stopped after their defence team asked prosecutors to disclose full details of the officer's activities.

This reportedly prompted the Crown Prosecution Service to drop their case, and the Independent Police Complaints Commission is now examining whether Nottinghamshire Police properly disclosed all relevant material in advance of the trial date.

Mr Kennedy told the Mail on Sunday he believed tape recordings secretly made by him were withheld for fear they would destroy the prosecution's case.

Sexual relationships

The former Pc was involved in a number of protests during his time undercover, including at the Drax power station in North Yorkshire - where he claims he was hit by some of his fellow officers.

He also picketed arms fairs in London and the construction of the Karahnjukar Dam in Iceland.

He said he was particularly useful because he owned a van and could drive people to demonstrations, and was also a skilled climber who could scale buildings.

[“QUOTE: I am in genuine fear for my life”]

Mr Kennedy admitted having two sexual relationships with female activists and said it was "a wrong thing to do".

"The circumstances I was involved in led to that to happen and I can assure you that I am not the only person who has been involved in sexual relationships as an undercover officer."

But he denied "going native" despite getting very close to his targets.

"As the years went on, I did get a sort of Stockholm Syndrome [where kidnap victims come to love their captors], but I never lost sight of my work. I texted and informed on a daily basis."

Mr Kennedy was unmasked in September by some of the activists and subsequently told them he had been a police officer, but had left in 2009.

He said he had recently fled abroad and had sought help from a psychiatrist after having suicidal thoughts.

"My world has been destroyed. I don't have any friends - they were all in the activist movement.

"I can't sleep. I have lost weight and am constantly on edge.

"I barricade the door with chairs at night. I am in genuine fear for my life. I have been told that my former bosses from the force are out here in America looking for me. I have been told by activists to watch my back as people are out to get me."

"Grey and murky"

Mr Kennedy criticised police procedures for dealing with him.

"There have been a lot of mistakes made, a lot of operational decisions have been wrong... and I think I am being made a scapegoat."

[QUOTE Peter Bleksley Nobody can put your arm up your back and force you into going undercover”]

He described the "world of undercover policing" as "grey and murky" and said there was "some bad stuff going on" within it.

"The extraction policies for taking an undercover officer out of the activist scene after their deployment has finished is appalling. I had no confidence at all that my safety was ever going to be regarded."

He added: "I want to tell my story and tell how there is a huge mismanagement of staff for the sake of gathering intelligence.

"It has jeopardised my life and it could jeopardise the lives of other officers."

But Peter Bleksley, who was a founder member of Scotland Yard's undercover unit, said all those taking part in such work had chosen to do so.

"Nobody can put your arm up your back and force you into going undercover," he told the BBC.

"So consequently, as a volunteer, that means you've got the ultimate power of veto. If you're not happy with how an operation's being run, if you're not happy with what you're being asked to do, it's very simple, you just say, 'Nope, I'm not doing it.'"

ITEM 3  The BBC invites Peter Bleksley to comment on undercover policing

( From about 3 mins onwards in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug3f_vRADjM )

ITEM 4  A blogger writes about Bleksley

Whilst googling my way around the whole spy-cops thing, I came across this user contribution on The Guardian website from October 2011, relating to the then-imminent publishing of Hogan-Howe’s HMIC report into Kennedy’s shenanigans:

Should be an interesting read then and here’s hoping that HOGAN-HOWE wasn’t helped too much in his ‘review’ by the likes of Peter BLEKSLEY and any of the other so called Undercover Police ‘Experts’.

Speaking of which, here’s is the link to the recent BBC Programme about KENNEDY if anyone needs it again. With only 3 more days to watch it, having first been broadcasted on Monday, 19:30 on BBC One (East Midlands area only)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0161mc6/Power_Struggle
http://bristle.wordpress.com/tag/peter-bleksley/

Having now watched it I don’t know what personally winds me up the most hearing and seeing Mark KENNEDY still obviously in his method man role of Mark STONE and therefore evidently lying as easily as any normal person actually finds breathing.

Or Peter BLEKSLEY, as ever and yet again, talking out his backside as the so called rent a ‘media expert’ on deep and long-term total undercover Covert Police work.

BLEKSLEY isn’t, never has been and never will be an ‘expert’ on this matter as long as he has got a hole in his arse.

Up until when he was finished and totally burnt out in 1996 he only ever did numerous short-term crime cover Ops for SO10. Allowing him after each and every single short term role he played, to pop back to the local Police station or NSY afterwards to continue playing with his truncheon, gun, blue lights and numerous Police friends.

His ‘expert’ knowledge is like comparing the method actors of long-term deep undercover Policing, on parr with the likes of Christian BALE or Daniel DAY-LEWIS to his own appearance alongside the cast of East Enders.

ITEM 5  Bleksley admits to the BBC that he was an out-and-out racist

But says he has changed

28 March 2011 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/charlesmoore/8410373/Things-the-BBC-didnt-tell-us-about-the-Brixton-riots.html

EXTRACT

Howe and Wheatle, though both exhibiting considerable charm and wit, were also on the side of the rioters. (Wheatle briefly went to prison for crimes related to the events.) So, in effect, was Peter Bleksley. He told the programme that at the time he was a racist copper, but now he saw the error of his ways.

ITEM 6 Bleksley on Twitter

https://twitter.com/PeterBleksley on Twitter

aquila has referred us to Bleksley’s Twitter account, which reveals how often the media ask him to comment on police matters. For a failed police officer, like Mark Williams-Thomas, this is truly remarkable. What is his secret?

Or is it simply: “I’ll say anything for ££££££££££££££"?

Can we rely on Bleksley's 'special report'?

Priceless how the Mccann case seems to attract dodgy ex coppers willing to be used for the right price.
You'd think coppers (albeit ex) more so than the joe public would be skeptical of the mccanns' version given they were suspects.

They must believe using ex-coppers lend weight to their pulp fiction.

CM has lost his story telling talent and quotes from family and friends bear no weight and so rent-a-cop has to be wheeled out to keep the case in the public conscious, for what purpose though is the $64M question.

What seems certain is that the Mccanns case is of continual interest to the newspapers.
Their hire of paid-lowly-spokescreature would be pointless had the newspapers refused to print evolving tripe from them.

Have any of these ex-coppers actually done a full 30 years service.
MW-T was only on the force for 12 years
This latest one was dismissed as mentally unsound
Whereas John Stalker, served for over 30 years and comes to a different conclusion !

Cristobell, in what sense is this odd?

The media already had to scrape the barrel to get Ian Horrocks, ex-Met detective, to churn out a load of tripe in his article of 2 July 2012 on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. He then embarrasingly had to undo a whole big chunk of that article when he re-wrote it on 14 October 2013 for the CrimeWatch 'McCann Speical'. His certainty about Tanner having seen Madeleine was cunningly destroyed by Redwood's 'crecheman'.

Having scraped the barrel to find Horrocks, what is odd about the media scraping the barrel once again to find failed copper and media whore Peter Bleksley?

Thank you Tony and Watching, you are of course both right, it certainly looks that way.  The problem for Mr. Bleksley et al, is that once the story breaks all their credibility as 'crime experts' will be shot to pieces.

Modest bloke Peter Bleksley:

Preface of his book 'Gangbuster', published first in 2001:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gangbuster-Dont-Care-Cross-Bring-ebook/dp/B008AVQ226/ref=la_B001JP0RFI_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1398689641&sr=1-1#reader_B008AVQ226

"He was the best uncover cop the police ever had. In a ten-year career with Scotland Yard's most secretive squad ..............."

Not one of the best, no THE best.

A ten-year career?
According to his Linkedin he was in the MET for 21 years (1978 – 1999).  http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/peter-bleksley/25/378/a11

Which is it? 10 or 21 years? Or 10 years in the undercover squad and then the rest in some other capacity for the Met?

Interesting review on his book:

1.0 out of 5 stars Total Fraud., 10 Jan 2014

This review is from: Gangbuster (Paperback)
This guy is a complete liar and now seeing him peddle his opinion of events as a security consultant to Sky News is a utter joke. No matter what the topic is, he prattles on about made up events from his book.

SKY NEWS PRESENTER- "peter can you tell me about the security practices that will be put in place for the royal wedding"
PETER MITTY- "well when the IRA but a hit out on my life".......

I cant believe how many people have been taken in by him, hes a complete Walter mitty. The tagline from his book how he was a founding member of the Mets undercover units is one of his most outrageous lies.

The book "The Infiltrators" will give you an honest way undercover units work

SKY NEWS has relied on

The late Ray Wyre, with known perverted sex interests, to comment on sex offenders

Mark Williams-Thomas to do basically the same, and

Peter Bleksley, failed and mentally ill police officer and admitted racist, to comment on crime matters.

Strange choices

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

What the Met actually said:

'On two occasions in Vale de Parra and Praia da Gale he was wearing a distinctive burgundy long sleeve top, on one of those occasions it was described as having a white circle on the back.'

So, how does the 'amazing new clue' of the Super Bock 'Super Man' T-shirt measure up?

Not exactly a 'sensational breakthrough' then.

Peter, why don't you offer your services as an 'independent' ex senior police officer. Then you could takes us all on an Agatha Christie type caribbean cruise with the proceeds. We could then proceed to languish on the deck attired in our 1930's designer bathing clothes, swilling G & T's whilst solving the mystery of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

I could bring my GSD's along, admittedly they wouldn't be much use for detecting cadaver odour, but they sure as hell would ensure that we were undisturbed. big grin

When in Rome, Chatelaine, when in Rome. I don't consider my imagined scenario being any more farcial than employing Peter Bleksley to comment on the Madeleine McCann case, do you?

IMO you're intelligent enough, to know that this is not anything near an answer to my question.

"When in Rome",
"Agatha Christie type caribbean cruise",
"swilling G & T's whilst solving the mystery"
and your "Duitse herders" ...

Yes a rarity  a straight high level copper. Anyone remember the God Botherer and High Level Freemason from Manchester? I think Mr Stalker was his Assistant Chief Constable at the time of the Shoot to Kill enquiry in Northern Ireland. He was moved sharply was Mr Stalker.

He was the first to say that it was highly unusual that a group of people could stick together so adherently as the Tapas 9.

How the Met could do with his services now.

A good cop. No Health Spa holidays for that man as a result of largesse from Digger Murdoch and his acolytes.
