Hopefully Mr Rousewell will address this matter fairly in tomorrow's paper!

We could sure use some honest and unbiased reporting in the UK re Madeleine McCann's alleged abduction, of which there's not a single shred of proof! MR JUSTICE TUGENDHAT'S JUDGMENT IN MCCANNS v BENNETT issued 10.10 on 24.10.12 - Page 4 173510

Nice words, but he seem to be referring only to the Print edition.
Have a look on line, and it is still there.

Their own search engine brings it up in its unedited, libellous and "Court Contemptuous" way
as does a google search on "Bennett accuse Mccann".
And that is not restricted to the class of people who purchase a print edition of the Mirror.
It is broadcast potentially to the entire world.

Nothing but front page will do, if it's stuck on anything from page 2 onwards in a tiny box at the bottom of the page we will know where Rousewell and his colleagues sit! The newspapers and their journalists are all so scared of the McCanns all they think about is their huge salaries they get every year, they don't think about the lives they destroy whilst spouting their rubbish.

Great stuff. Let's hope they print the correct facts from now on, and oh an apology wouldn't go amiss but I don't expect one for Tony.

At least it was printed in the Mirror so their readers can 'google' Tony Bennett and make their own minds up as I have looked at most of the UK papers and can't see it anywhere else but I stand to be corrected. Sun, Olive Press, Express, Independent, Guardian etc where are you????

By the way, has the Mirror made a false statment against Tony i,e a libellous claim as the McCanns would term it? Any help on this one?

Good grief, that would be a turn around, the McCanns can sue anyone they like, perhaps Tony should start proceedings on the Mirror for £millions, after all what the Mirror said was printed for the whole World to read. At least it would help to pay the costs for his defence against the McCanns. Well if the McCanns can sue all and sundry why can't anyone else????

I told him that journalists need more guts. MR JUSTICE TUGENDHAT'S JUDGMENT IN MCCANNS v BENNETT issued 10.10 on 24.10.12 - Page 4 847771

Dear Mr. Rousewell,

I am writing in regard to todays headline in
The Daily Mirror, "Madeleine McCanns Parents in court bid to jail
retired lawyer accusing them of causing girls death.

This is a
totally untrue and very misleading statement, at no time has Mr. Tony
Bennett said that they caused their daughters death, this statement
needs to be removed immediately.

All this information is in the Portuguese Police files which are available to the general public.

I
and many, many others wish a journalist with some guts and gumption
would get to grips with these Police files and have a good read and stop
running scared of being sued the whole time.

The Madeleine
McCann fund needs to be investigated thoroughly too as the majority of
the funds are being used to sue people. Carter Ruck, their solicitors
cannot be doing all their cases for free.

You will find that a
massive amount of the general public are highly suspicious of this case,
it needs a newspaper with an open mind to look into it without fear.

Regards

All in my opinion of course.

If as Rousewell said he had roused the head of legal department into dealing with this, you would think the first thing he would do is to order the correction of the 'online' version, yet nothing was done.

Either they are such an incompetent lot, or Mirror is such a bureaucratic organisation that things do not get filtered down with proper instructions.

If they don't resolve this quickly, then the complaint can escalate all the way .......

I think they are going to have to address this very quickly. I've emailed Rousewell too. If got reply will update.

I sent an e-mail late last night pointing out that the online edition hadn't been updated.

I also asked what has happened to responsible investigative reporting; journalists (including ones who were previously sensible) have published the most ghastly sycophantic articles which clearly haven't been researched at all. Anyone who raises doubts about the story is dismissed as a vile internet troll.

I hope that the Jimmy Savile scandal will give journalists the courage to speak out when they know deep down that something is very rotten.

I expect Rousewell is consulting with the McCanns regarding the wording of his apology to Tony Bennett, don't want to upset them and all that, seeing as they're the media darlings.

I suggest the Daily Mirror despatches their best journalist to Dungloe in Donegal (where the Mccanns are allegedly currently enjoying a break with all their relatives - see Donegal thread) to search for the McCanns and all these relatives and to take an exclusive picture of the extended family.

the journalist can ask (if he/she finds them) do they really think that they can spare this few days off from searching for madeleine/selling good quality wrist bands?
