Notoriously unreliable, of course.

Nicola Payne, who disappeared aged 18 while walking home from her boyfriend's house in 1991
Police have launched a major search for the body of a teenage mother who went missing more than two decades ago after a tip-off that she could be buried in scrub land.
Detectives hunting for Nicola Payne - who vanished on a five-minute walk home from a boyfriend's house - are using X-ray ground scanners and dogs trained to sniff out bodies as they scour the site in her hometown of Coventry.
Notoriously unreliable, of course.

Trust the dogs Jean. If there are any bones to be found, the dogs will find them, even if they are sea-bass bones, wrapped up in old sheets of the News of the Screws and a few left-over chips.

Re: Thery're not STILL using dogs, are they ?
Anyone know who was the last one to have seen her? Her boyfriend, Jason Cooke?
She left his house at midday to walk half a mile and no one saw her?

Possibly the police would like to interview the last person to see her - the boyfriend.

Nicola Payne: Wood focus in missing mum search
Nicola Payne was last seen near to the Black Pad in Wood End on 14 December 1991
Police investigating the disappearance of a Coventry mother last seen 21 years ago said they had discovered "areas of interest" in woodland being searched.
Nicola Payne went missing from the Wood End area in December 1991. She was 18 and had a six-month-old son.
West Midlands Police began searching parkland off Purcell Road on Tuesday.
Det Ch Insp Matt Markham said: "There are small areas within the wooded section and we'll be making a closer examination to see what they tell us."
The latest search includes the use of specially-trained dogs and ground X-ray and metal detection equipment.
Miss Payne was on her way to her parents' house from the home she shared with her boyfriend Jason Cooke, half a mile away in Winston Avenue, when she went missing.
Excavation plans
Police said reasonable progress was being made with clearing the ground with a view to some excavation work taking place later in the search.
Mr Markham said specialists had been looking at certain trees which would have been saplings at the time of Miss Payne's disappearance.
"These are hurdles for them to overcome but the dedicated team from the Home Office can eliminate areas for us and progress is being made," he said.
Specialists have been clearing the ground with a view to excavating a certain area of the woodland
"We're committed to doing a detailed and thorough job, we owe that to Nicola's family and friends and the community of north east Coventry for whom this was a significant event."
Mr Markham said a fresh search had begun following new information that had come to light that warranted further investigation.
Miss Payne was last seen near to the Black Pad in Wood End on 14 December 1991.
In 2007 a man was arrested in connection with her disappearance and released on bail.
No-one has ever been charged in connection with the case.

Police investigating the disappearance of a Coventry mother last seen 21 years ago have arrested two men.
Nicola Payne went missing from the Wood End area in December 1991. She was 18 and had a six-month-old son.
West Midlands Police began searching parkland off Purcell Road on Tuesday following new information.
Det Ch Insp Matt Markham said a 74-year-old man and a 45-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to prevent the lawful burial of a body.
"I can now reveal that police this morning have arrested two men, local to Coventry, one aged 74, the other aged 45, in relation to an offence in conspiracy to prevent the lawful and decent burial of a body," he said.
He added: "News of these arrests may cause people to reconsider their position and if they haven't so far felt able to come forward with information, then I would urge them to now do so in light of these arrests."
Excavation work
The two men have been taken to police stations in Coventry where they will be interviewed by detectives later.

Mighty interesting! We don't know of course, but as the police acted on new information might there be a third person who will not be charged with the same offence? If he/she knew about this but kept silent?
Might it also be the case that these were close friends or family of the boyfriend?

My first thought was that this is the boyfriend and his father but of course it could be people quite unconnected to the family.

That was exactly my first thought too, Jean: boyfriend & father.
We'll have to wait for more news, though.

Re: Thery're not STILL using dogs, are they ?
An old article I found gave the boyfriend's age in 1991 as 20 so, if that is correct, he will now be 40 or 41 and he cannot be one of the men being questioned.

If Daily Mail got it right [for once] they don't seem to be family related indeed:
A father and
son were today arrested by police investigating the disappearance of
teenager Nicola Payne in Coventry 21 years ago.
Officers
confirmed they had arrested two men aged 74 and 45 on suspicion of conspiracy
to prevent the lawful and decent burial of a body - the pair were named locally
as Patrick Judge, 74, and eldest son Keith, 45.

Re: Thery're not STILL using dogs, are they ?
According to a paper, there was another son, who hanged himself 4 months after the disappearance.
That would fit with the stated reason for arrest, - conspiracy to prevent lawful burial..

Ah. That would fit indeed. The charges did puzzle me ...
