There is some material on this in the research section, but I'm not sure if there is any section on the forum for debating all the many questions that arise when one looks into the activities of the McCann Team's provate investigators.

I suggest that some of these questions may be worthy of debate:

* Who exactly appointed Metodo 3 - when, and how?

* Who exactly appointed Kevin Halligen/Oakley International - when, and how?

* Who decided to appoint Dave Edgar - when, and how?

* How much has each of them been paid?

* What exactly can account for the McCann Team choosing as their lead investigators in 2007 and 2008 respectively, Antonio Gimenez Raso and Kevin Halligen, both of whom have been in clink ever snce 2009?

* Why did Metodo 3 lie (repeatedly) in December 2007, claiming they knew where Madeleine was, were 'closing in' on her kidnappers, and that she would be home by Christmas?

* What was the reason that Madeira lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia and lead Metodo 3 investigator Antonio Gimenez Raso met up on 10 December 2007 at the Arade Dam, Portugal, each travelling about 500 miles to be there?

* Did the McCann Team pay for this meeting via Metodo 3?

* What connection did this meeting in December 2007 have with Marcos Correia's subsequent two searches for Madeleine's bones at the Arade Dam in January and March 2008?

* What useful information have mMtodo 3 yielded?

* Is it true, as Marcos Aragao Corriea claims, that Metodo 3 arranged for him to become the lawyer for convicted child murderess Leonor Cipriano at a meeting at Odemira Prison on 8 April 2008, so that he could conduct the prosecution to try and get Goncalo Amral convicted?

* Who was supervisiing the work of Kevin Halligen when he was drinking whisky after whisky in a posh London club and living the high life with his girlfriend Shirin Trachiotis in 5-star hotels in New York and London?

* Why, as the Director of Virginia-based company iJet asserts, did the McCann Team not follow up a single call to their investigation hot-line during the period Kevin halligen was their lead investigator?

* Why did the McCanns' spokesman say that Oakley International were the 'big boys of international private detection' when in fact Oakley International was the one-man band Kevin Halligen who formed Oakley only after Madeleine was reported missing?

+++++++++++++++++++++

There are many more questions, these are just a few to start off with...

January 3rd 2008 from McCannfiles.com
The McCanns hire a new detective

It emerged today the McCanns have hired a detective who investigated a 7/7 suicide bomber. Noel Hogan is conducting a "cold case" review. The former Met detective superintendent, who runs the agency Hogan International, in Farnham said: "I have been reinterviewing witnesses that were out in Portugal at the time." It is understood these include friends of the McCanns. unquote

Who might that be? And re Metodo another January 2008 clip:

10/1 same source as above:
- a McCann family source said: "We will carry on the search for Madeleine but not necessarily with Metodo 3. We are stuck with them to the end of the contracted period. "The question of whether it is renewed or not has still to be decided. They have faced not having their contract renewed ever since Francisco shot his mouth off. It was made clear what they were doing was foolish and unhelpful."
unquote.

* Why did Metodo 3 lie (repeatedly) in December 2007, claiming they knew where Madeleine was, were 'closing in' on her kidnappers, and that she would be home by Christmas?

Why did the "Fund's" solicitors deny this ?

Dear Sir
Madeleine's Fund – Leaving no Stone Unturned Limited
We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 22 December 2007 which was also sent to the auditors of Madeleine's Fund, Haysmacintyre. We are also replying on behalf of Haysmacintyre.
We are advised by our client that reports in the media purporting to be from the investigators, which made claims as to when Madeleine would be found are inaccurate and misrepresentations of their views.
Our client has every confidence in the investigators who continue the search for Madeleine.
Yours faithfully

Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP
And why did Kate then admit it in her book.
We have no doubt that M3 made significant strides, but unfortunately, in mid-December, one of their senior investigators gave an overly optimistic interview to the media. He implied that the team were close to finding Madeleine and declared that he hoped she would be home by Christmas. Gerry and I did not pay much heed to these bullish assertions.

That doesn't really tally with the quote above from :

- a McCann family source said: "We will carry on the search for Madeleine but not necessarily with Metodo 3. We are stuck with them to the end of the contracted period. Well, I think Metodo did exactly what they were asked to do. The expression 'shot his mouth off' would that come from that great source of information, PMcM?
We're practically back in the Gorbals.

So a senior investigator she was paying to search for Madeleine gave an "overly optimistic" interview to the media that Madeleine would be home by Christmas- how did she know it was overly optimistic? She then said that she and Gerry did not pay much heed to these "bullish assertions" WHY? Didn't she trust the senior investigator she was paying? Or did she know it was rubbish because she knew what really happened to her daughter?

Now, if any one of us had said it was a "bullish assertion" it would make the pro's froth at the mouth and call us Madeleine haters - or refer the comment to Carter-Ruck for prosecution - but it's perfectly ok for the mother of a supposedly-abducted daughter to say it was a bullish assertion. I simply don't understand Kate McCann.

I wonder if that's why she hasn't bought a stamp yet and written to the Portuguese prosecutor to ask for the process to be reopened after DCI Andy Redwood said he believed Madeleine was alive. I suppose she thinks he was being "overly optimistic" too when he gave that interview to Panorama?

Good point. It is obviously why GM can barely stop himself bursting into laughter when asked about sightings.
How did they 'know' that these were 'bullish assertions'
How did they 'know" that she would not be found before the 100 days "Anniversary" event
How did they 'know' she would not be found whilst they were in Rome, or the US, or anywhere else.
How did they 'know' that she would not be found before the release of the book. Or indeed of the second one.
Almost never do they preface any remarks with the words "unless she is found sooner, of course"

Thank you. I wasn't aware of Noel Hogan, this then was just another story along the lines of: "Look what important people we're spending all your money on".

The comments about Metodo 3 were in response to media criticism of Metodo 3's lies about Madeleine coming home for Christmas. Despite those comments, the McCann Team were still employing Metodo 3 on a part-time basis until at least March 2009, as I've shown in one of my articles on the MF website.

Exactly what I thought. Why on earth would you pay huge amounts of money to PI's , then pay no attention to what they were saying. That is a very odd statement to make. What is the point of hiring them, if you then say they make "bullish assertions"

Tony - the following remark from CM is regarding the second documentary on the 26th January 2008 he said:
"We've talked to a few broadcasters and one or two are minded to look at it," the McCann's spokesman Clarence Mitchell told Reuters of the documentary proposal. " If Madeleine were never found and if some sort of legacy for her was a system which would mean that no other family was ever in this terrible position again, then at least some good would have come out of this." unquote.

So how come TM already considered that there was a possibility that she'd never be found? 8 months after her disappearance?

And then, incredibly, M3 did not hand over everything they had to the next set of 'private detectives", nor even to Edgar.
Hence the SY team were able to go to Barcelona and collect all those boxes, which had apparently been languishing untouched and un-investigated for three years.

And, to ram it home, and for the benefit of Carter-Ruck, these were the actions (inactions) of TM's own investigative teams. They criticise the PJ and everyone else in the world for failing to investigate, and threaten with prison anyone who "hampers the search", but have done nothing to coordinate their own alleged efforts.

Any anguished parents of a supposedly "abducted" daughter would be absolutely furious at an agency you were paying vast amounts of money to when they come up with the statement "that she will be home by Christmas" and she didn't materialise. I waited some time to see a statement from K & G McCann in the newspapers saying that they had had strong words with Metodo 3 and would not be renewing their contract, but oh no, not the McCanns, they just carried on as normal, then as an afterthought Kate put in her book (obviously after reading so many comments on the internet) that her and Gerry did not pay much heed to these bullish assertions.

And not a word from either of them when the MET police took away 8 boxes of alleged "sightings" that hadn't been followed up. Remind me again, K & G, what were you paying Metodo 3 to do??????

The McCanns must thing we're all as thick as bricks.

Strongwood. nl a Dutch detective agency was hired by the members of "Hyve' a sort of facebook in NL.

Strongwood hunt for Madeleine McCann goes cWAT

On Monday we were contacted by a reporter of The Times, who told us that our investigation was illegal and he had received a press-statement from the Portugese Police that they made a complaint to the Dutch Police about Strongwood. At that moment we did not know anything about this because we where not called by the Police, Justice, Local contacts, Tipsters or someone else.
We of course made contact with the Director of the Polícia Judiciária (Portugese Police) and on Thursday we where called back by one of the leading detectives in the Madeleine Case. He called on behave of the Director of the PJ in Faro and said that all shared information was helpful, that there wasn’t made any complaint en they all appreciated our work and effort. It is not even against the law to help searching for a missing child.
Strongwood and his team shared all the information and findings, did not interfere with the investigation and obey the rules for Portugal law.
Yesterday, on the 23rd of August The Times published this article
Nico van den Dries (Chief Investigator Strongwood) reaction: “The media is always coping each others and information they gather is made spectacular so it is newsworthy. It is sad to see that it is the media who make this investigation difficult to investigate and not the investigation done by the detectives and all people who did help” Snipped.
As anyone knows Strongwood was hired to do this investigation by more than 115.000 members of the Dutch community Hyve.nl.
Last week Strongwood and the big Community founded a foundation named Cases Without A Trace (www.cwat.eu).
snipped.
SOURCE: Strongwood

I just thought to post this here - no idea what Strongwood managed or not managed to do, but his website gives the idea they were very successful at finding 'dumping places'.
Is this the only occasion that a detective was hired by an internet group? Recipe for disaster, I seem to remember that he ran out of money pretty quickly although the amount collected was at least 100.000 pounds - probably a lot more.

The Times is of course controlled by Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch papers sell well, Murdoch editors and journalists strongly influence top British politicians, they break the law e.g. 'phone hacking in order to get stories, and they deal with corrupt top police officers.

But their reputation for telling the truth died decades ago.

Which Murdoch paper has investigated Antonio Gimenez Raso and Kevin Halligen.

Yet they re-cycle front-page balderdash like 'Drunken banker gets strong lead at 2am on Barcelona dockside', or 'Madeleine held in prison lair 10 miles from Praia da Luz', or 'Estranged son of paedophile burns letter brought to him by mystery man from Germany', or 'Spanish basketball-playing Angolan bouncer says his front teeth were knocked out by group of wicked paedophiles who took Madeleine to America'.

Who would have thought that the Murdoch empire could plumb such abysmal depths?

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

I don't know how far back this goes, but didn't Murdoch once have a genuine grievance against the British establisment? Obviously rankled. Has he spent the rest of his life getting his revenge?
Just Googled, of course it was the print unions - the closed shop. I agree with the article that the print unions nearly bankrupted Fleet Street.

Just got a pro Murdoch article from December 2010. http://standpointmag.co.uk/node/3596/full - very interesting.
