Strange words by G. McCann
A story from August 2007 re-cycled again in 2008. From GM's blog, interesting wording (my bold)...........................
Maddy's dad in new plea to kidnapper
Sometimes people do things for reasons that even they cannot understand," Mr McCann, a devout Catholic, wrote.
"An act of madness, an accident or sudden impulse can lead to consequences that people may never have imagined or intended.
"Faced with such a situation we believe any human soul will ultimately suffer torment and feelings of guilt and fear."
In a direct plea, he continued: "If you have done something you regret, if you find yourself in a situation you never intended, it is not too late to do the right thing.
"Please come forward, return Madeleine, leave her in a place of safety."

How can watching an apartment and abducting a child be an accident or sudden impulse? And how can you find yourself in a situation you never intended?

Yes they are rather strange words, but it is the timing of them that makes me chuckle. The article mentions 118 days into the ordeal which would make it Aug 29th, after Eddie and Keela had ripped an enormous great hole in the abduction theory and immediately prior to them being officially labelled arguidos. A direct plea to the 'abductor'. "It's not too late to do the right thing."
Not too late for an 'abductor' I suppose, but well past the point of no return for...
