Tony Parsons - Why we still care about Madeleine McCann
Tony Parsons in the Mirror.............
Why we still care about Madeleine McCann
Those who sneer at the search for Madeleine McCann are denying that little girl’s humanity
EVEN now, people still say – why should we care about Madeleine McCann?
Children go missing every day, they say.
Too much attention has been paid to this one child.
If the mother was a tattooed benefit-claimer from a sink estate, we would look away.
They are missing the point.
We care about the fate of this one missing child because, if we are parents, we can recognise the bottomless pit of pain that consumes Kate McCann.
And we know, if we are honest, that it could happen to any of us.
Do we care less about the mugged pensioner because lots of pensioners get mugged?
Do we turn away from the maimed soldier because many soldiers are maimed?
Those who sneer at the search for Madeleine McCann are denying that little girl’s humanity.
And their own.

I have sympathy with the McCann's, but at the end of the day they left their children alone whilst they went out drinking and eating in a restaurant, in their line of work (GP & Surgeon) they would have been duty bound to inform social services if they had found out that this had been happening in another youngsters home. I hope that they do find her safe and well and that she is unharmed, but I do think that the only reason that this story is still in the news is that they have the money to keep it there. Does anyone remember Ben Needham who was taken whilst on holiday? He has been missing for about 20 years and he faded from the news about a year after his disappearance
We care about the fate of this one missing child because, if we are parents, we can recognise the bottomless pit of pain that consumes Kate McCann
What about the bottomless pit of pain other parents of missing children go through????

I would not resent one single penny being spent on the search for Madeleine, in fact they could multiply it by 100 if I thought it would find her.
What I do resent though is her parents refusal to co-operate with that search. Get off your backsides and go back to Portugal and speak with the PJ. Get your "friends" back there and do the much asked for and needed re-construction. Answer the questions you refused to answer Kate. Put all of the energy you so obviously put into your tv appearances and book writing into a true and proper search for your daughter.
Stop the spinning, the lies, the ever changing stories.
Give us something more than day time tv lip service.
Nobody "sneers" at the search, for there is no search, not by her parents at any rate.
They "sneer" at Kate and Gerry McCanns "purported" search.

I doubt that anyone sneers at it. Questioning isn't sneering. And it's the people who have turned this affair into a circus, and have made her a commodity to be marketed, who are denying the little girl's humanity, more than anyone else.

I wonder where Mr. Parsons finds the inspiration to write such masterpieces!
"If we are honest, that it could happen to any of us"
No, it couldn't. And my "humanity" will never allow me to feel any kind of sympathy for this couple, no matter whatever has happened.Something isn't right about their account of the events and about their actions afterwards.

We care about the fate of this one missing child because, if we
are parents, we can recognise the bottomless pit of pain that consumes
Kate McCann.
And how is her pain different from that of Ben Needham's parents, or Katrice Lee's, all of whom have been trying to find out what happened to their children, for a sight longer than the McCann's, and without the hoo-ha of the McCanns?

Re: Tony Parsons - Why we still care about Madeleine McCann
He is also known for writing works of fiction so you need a good imagination for that. I suspect though that he puts a good deal more research into his novels than he does with his articles relating to the McCanns.

Re: Tony Parsons - Why we still care about Madeleine McCann
Parsons conveniently forgets when he states possible reasons for people that disagree with the McCanns that some of us actually doubt Madeleine was even abducted as a) there is evidence of Kate & Gerry's deception (deleted mobile calls) b) Evidence she died in 5a (Cadaver dogs) c) NO evidence of abduction.

And there is not one single shred of evidence of an abduction, after 5 years

'If we are honest' - speak for yourself Mr. Parsons. Kate McCann's favourite phrase usually precedes an untruth.
So it could 'happen' - nice to know that in your life and for your children, losing them in this way is still a possibility. 'It' happening seems to be an event completely separate from your responsibility. Good to know.

Not if we left our kids in an unlocked apartment all on their own & exposed while we wined and dined in a restaurant 100 yards away, surrounded by plastic covering so vision was severely impaired to the apartment and the noise of the restaurant kept inside making it louder with no chance of hearing anything outside, Mr Parsons. Have a look in your right toe, you might have a bit more intelligence in there

Bottomless pit of pain that consumes Kate Mccann? What? I guess Gerry's over it? What an idiot. But what does one expect from redtop brown nosers?
