We have evidence wow

You didnt complete the sentence, which is : We have evidence to solve the "mystery" .

The taboo word again used by another tabloid.

Are TM and CR going to riot outside the tabloid offices for daring to use the taboo "M' word?

MADELEINE MCCANN POLICE: WE HAVE EVIDENCE THAT MAY HELP US SOLVE THE MYSTERY

Madeleine McCann vanished in Portugal on May 3, 2007.

Wednesday April 25,2012
By John Twomey
THE detective leading Scotland Yard’s probe into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has given new hope to her parents by declaring how police aim to solve the case.
Andy Redwood says the work of his 35-strong squad is the “best opportunity yet” of discovering exactly what happened to the little girl who went missing days before her fourth birthday while on holiday in Portugal.
Detective Chief Inspector Redwood explained the key to his inquiry is bringing together three separate investigations.
A mass of material from police in Portugal and Britain along with files from private investigators hired by Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann is now housed in Belgravia police station in central London.
“We are here in terms of seeking to bring closure to the case. That would be our ultimate objective,” Mr Redwood told BBC’s Panorama.
“Closure means establishing what has happened to Madeleine McCann.”
Interviewer Richard Bilton asked him: “Solving it?” Mr Redwood replied: “Yes, solving it, of course.”
Closure means establishing what has happened to Madeleine McCann.
Detective Chief Inspector Redwood
He said the task facing the Yard team is massive. He said: “Our initial estimates in terms of the amount of material we are facing is that it will be somewhere in the region of 40,000 pieces of information.
“There is, ultimately, a process of us turning every single piece of paper over and interpreting and analysing what is contained within them.
“Anything is possible, and clearly, within that material, the answer could lie.”
The probe, codenamed Operation Grange, was launched in May last year after the McCanns, from Rothley, Leics, appealed directly to Prime Minister David Cameron for help from Scotland Yard.

Last week, officers made a fourth visit to Portugal and they have also been to Spain twice.
So far, Operation Grange has cost taxpayers £2million. The money has come from a Home Office contingency fund.
Madeleine vanished from a flat in the holiday resort of Praia da Luz on the Portuguese Algarve coast on May 3, 2007. The Portuguese, who faced severe criticism over the way the investigation was handled, formally shelved the case in 2008. But Mr Redwood said he hopes the work of the Operation Grange team, composed of 28 detectives and seven civilian support staff, will lead to the inquiry there being re-opened.
He said: “I am satisfied that the systems and processes that we are bringing to this set of circumstances will give us the best opportunity to find those investigative opportunities that we can then present to our colleagues in Portugal.”
Mr Redwood stressed the advantage of having all the available evidence in one place, including the detailed dossier compiled by Metodo 3, the Barcelona-based investigations firm hired by the McCanns.
Francisco Marco, the agency’s director, has revealed that up to eight “important leads” were handed to Operation Grange when officers from the Yard visited Spain in December, last year.
Mr Redwood said: “We are drawing together information from three separate sources. At no time before have those three elements been drawn together in one place.
“And so what we’ve done over the past number of months is to bring to one place all those pieces of the jigsaw.”
The Panorama programme is on BBC1 at 7.30pm tonight, apart from in the North-west. It also features an interview with Goncalo Amaral, who led the initial Portuguese inquiry.
He was removed after his outspoken criticism of the British involvement in the investigation.
He said: “It’s a fact that our investigation had its faults and lost a lot of time, lots of time. And a lot of things didn’t get followed up. I’m just as much to blame for that as anyone else.”

Yard hopes for Maddie 'closure' as detective reviewing case evidence says he is confident mystery can be solved
By REBECCA CAMBER

The detective leading a review of evidence related to Madeleine McCann’s disappearance is confident the case can be solved.
DCI Andy Redwood said Scotland Yard had the ‘best opportunity’ to solve the mystery because it was the first time information from all sources had been considered.
His team of 28 detectives and seven civilian staff was sifting through around 40,000 pieces of information and was ‘seeking to bring closure to the case’.

DCI Andy Redwood (left), the man leading the review of evidence relating to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann (right), believes Scotland Yard has the 'best opportunity' to solve the five-year mystery
Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family’s holiday flat in Praia da Luz in Portugal on May 3, 2007, as her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends nearby.
The official investigation was shelved in July 2008 but Scotland Yard’s review of the case, Operation Grange, was launched last year when David Cameron responded to a plea from Madeleine’s parents.

DCI Redwood said his team was analysing ‘every single piece of paper’ generated in the investigation.
He added: ‘Anything is possible and clearly, within that material, the answer could lie.’

Plea: The official investigation was shelved in July 2008, but Scotland Yard's review of the case was launched last year when David Cameron responded to a request from Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann (pictured)
The team is drawing together information from Portuguese law enforcement bodies, British police and private investigations commissioned by the McCanns.
Asked why he believed the operation was unique, DCI Redwood told the BBC’s Panorama: ‘Because at no time before have those three elements been drawn together in one place.’
While Portuguese police remain the lead agency in the case, and it would be up to them to decide whether to reopen it, he said his team in London aimed to solve the mystery.
The review ‘will give us the best opportunity... to bring them the best-quality information to assist them in making that decision’.
Operation Grange has so far cost the taxpayer £2million.

The Mystery of Madeleine McCann: A Panorama Special, BBC One, 9pm
The absence of hard facts in the case of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has given rise to endless speculation in the media, much of it unsubstantiated. One of the most troubling and persistent aspects is the way that Madeleine’s parents have been unable to shake off the suspicion that they were involved. Whether it is because Kate McCann doesn’t conform to the stereotype of a grieving mother or because some people feel it was wrong to leave their children alone in the first place hardly matters; the result has been a series of wild claims made against the couple. In this Panorama Special, Richard Bilton travels to Portugal in yet another attempt to separate fact from fiction. Not that it will make a blind bit of difference.

A mass of material from police in Portugal and Britain along with files from private investigators hired by Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann is now housed in Belgravia police station in central London.

“There is, ultimately, a process of us turning every single piece of paper over and interpreting and analysing what is contained within them.
“Anything is possible, and clearly, within that material, the answer could lie.”

So the Yard is turning every stone (paper) 40,000 pieces + those 31 boxes of pte detectives material, and he calls all these jigsaw pieces - interesting!

Not one "A" word anywhere in AR narratives or dialogues.

Two points:
When AR said the answer could lie within the documents -
does he mean the "abductor" is to be found within the pages; he knows of his whereabout and about to ambush him in a dawn raid; or

does he mean he's about to expose the "perpetrator/s" who is/are known to Maddie; and he's about to dispatch his quad to knock on the door of certain fragrant House with a medical sign?

Two other points:
How can there be a closure on stranger abduction when that is an open book, until the factors are known.
Every cold case gets mandatory periodic reviews by law, so why would mccanns' case be closed when the abductor is at large and Maddie still missing.

You can have a closure if you already worked out who the perpetrators are and ready to handcuff them and drag them into Court.

So, there can be only one type of closure here logically and legally speaking.
The other type will give the mccanns excuses to continue the search even after the review is closed, done and dusted.

Oh, btw just want to add, the silence from TM is deafening.
Not a dickie bird out of them, when you think they should be extremely excited about the "new evidence" AR talked about.

New evidence could mean they found who took Maddie - so why isnt TM eager to find out more from the Police whether they found the missing piece of jigsaw kate was looking for, with the abductor's permanent abode address written on it?

If they have new evidence of an abductor, I feel fairly confident that they would have spoken to the PJ and interpol, have followed it up, made the arrest, recovered Madeleine, and returned her to her family, or the Social Services, rather than waiting to announce what they were going to do in a TV programme made some weeks ago.
Just a thought, you know.

I agree!

BTW this is my first post on this forum. I am from Africa.... but have been following this for ages! I hope this is the end of the road for the McCanns. Surely if this Chief Police officer (Redwood??) and his team is doing a proper job, then end should be near.

I have always been thinking why on earth will someone like Amaral put his head on the line - with his book, if he wasnt 100% sure. Does that make sense at all?

Like all other people on here... I'm hopeful for tonights programme. If its not tonight it will hopefully be soon!

Well it will all come out in the wash if it turns out that the PJ were inept, corrupt and botched the investigation. And it will be stated eventually if true, that speculation about the tapas group came about due to mistranslations of statements leading to confusion and that we doubters were misled deliberately or not.
EH on Sky, at least the bits I saw, talked all the time about the main news, J Hunt and J Murdoch....dont know if he spent any time on tabloid front pages.
Lorraine Kelly opened her papers review with Maddie briefly, and ended the chat with news McCanns on her show nest Wednesday.
She limited herself to saying renewed hope Maddie may be found, as that was the tabloid headline.
The male journalist she spoke to was the one who elaborated on bringing together all info and criticised the investigation in Portugal. I think I heard the term cack-handed.
I do not know what is inside any of the papers elaborating on the headline, but I have not read anywhere that A Redwood spoke of finding Madeleine. Of course thats what we all want and of course a police officer wants to return her to her family...
but he spoke only of solving the case. And he never once referred to an abductor or abduction. And he limited himself to brief answers to Bilton's questions on that clip, just as he should have done.

Police say they have evidence to solve the mystery...maybe just the journalist putting that word in the mouth of a police officer, but if the police actually used this word, which I doubt....am sure they have referred to it simply as the case....I would like to see CR writing to SY.
I am sure TB will note the inconsistencies in CR's criticism of the use of the word. Libel? Nonsense...it is a mystery, why the papers describe it as such.

Post by sweetex on 25.04.12 9:29

See link to article earlier this month:

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/244971/We-ll-solve-mystery-of-Madeleine-McCann/

Although they talk about 8 new leads.....(which could mean either sightings or new evidence from witness statements or anything for that matter) the following stood out:

1) No mention of the word "abduction"
2) Portuguese officers are expected to reopen the case. (Which could be "The last hope")
3) "Their attitude is that it is solvable. The approach is very professional. They want definitive answers and are working extremely hard to get to the truth. The investigation is gathering momentum.”
4) Det Ch Insp Andy Redwood is leading 36 detectives and sources say he has an “excellent” working relationship with Portuguese cops.
5) Leicestershire Police, who worked closely with Portuguese detectives, handed over all evidence on the case to the Yard.

Let's hope big grin

In that respect at least Amaral has the decency and honesty to admit his team including himself made some mistakes.
If they hadn't, that pair would be languishing in jail by now.

russiandoll, you have mentioned the mistranslation of the statements a couple of times now, where are you getting this from. Surely you are not talking about the tweets and things said by the "pros"

What I find interesting is this: "Mr Redwood told the BBC's Panorama programme, being shown on Wednesday night, that his team of 28 detectives and seven civilian support staff" . Have these "seven" been carrying out a reconstruction of what happened, based on what the T7 said in their interviews? Just a thought!

#McCann Scot Yard say there ate 195 investigative opportunities to be followed up
