I don't think this thesis should be dismissed out of hand.

No, perhaps not. But what's the evidence to support it?
When they arrived they didn't know the restaurant was that far, is it?
They didn't plan in advance to do the baby listening service themselves, did they?

No but by the nearly end of the week they had the full low down on the place - they had worked out by then. Unluckily the results were more than they imagined - but there again - they weren't from a council estate - they were doctors and knew what to attempt.

cloroform is a very volatile liquid and evaporates quickly into a gas. This gas vapour is what you are mostlikely to smell. Its like thawpit and liquids sold to clean stains off clothes; fairly sweet in small quantities but rather rotten in large puffs. On a cloth only about six deep inhalations will make you feel woozy then more will make your hearing go faint or distorted.and then your blood pressure will fall a bit and if standing up, you,ll faint. It takes quite a lot more to completely put you under so that you dont remember anything.Too much will start to upset the breathing and heart regulatory centres and it is because it has produced fibrillation and irreg. heartbeat that it has been stopped for regular use.It can be used to "lace drinks in unsuspecting people but its pungent odour makes this very obvious.Warning dont experiment! You might knock yourself out!

And had Dave Edgar done some basic research into this substance, he would have realized that the use of chloroform to sedate the children was a highly unlikely, if not, impossible scenario.

As someone who was once forcibly chloroformed on a school playing field by a bunch of mates (it was the in thing at the time) I can tell you that it takes a good deal less than six inhalations to turn your lights out.

Well, it did with me anyway. I didn't notice any lingering odour either, but then we were on a school playing field.

As far as misunderstandings and lack of research go, I have to say that it pales into insignificance next to the great 'Calpol is a sedative' brouhaha, which I found astounding at the beginning and which has not lessened with the passage of time.

I don't think the earnings from the book would ever cover his court costs. We're not talking JK Rowling style pay days here.

I've always been against the concept of the book - not because it's about Madeleine or because it makes accusations about her parents, but because I don't think that a policeman who has worked on an unsolved case should write a book in which he names who he believes to be the offenders. If he had chosen to name a suspected abductor I would feel no differently.

Bellatrix, Bunny and Hedge

Just wondering why you are members of a Forum that, fundamentally, dis-believes the McCanns and their friends version of events?

Oooooh Autumn we don't all disbelieve all that they say no more than we disbelieve all that those who don't believe the abduction theory say.

Take care

I would say it was about half and half actually and I dont believe in sticking to a purely "anti" or "pro" forum and neither do I know WHAT to believe so why shouldnt I be here?

There is nothing the matter with me but thank you for asking.

BTW how exactly would this book have helped Madeleine if Amaral had won?????

It would not have helped Madeleine, she is beyond help.
However, I support any book that may help in bringing those responsible for her disappearance, to stand trial in a Court of Law. Hopefully, Snr Amaral will succeed in his appeal.

Blood and cadaver alerts
dismissed by UK Government

Retired DCI Gonçalo Amaral: "The English can always present the conclusions to which they themselves arrived in 2007. Because they know, they have the evidence of what happened - they don't need to investigate anything. All this is now a mere 'show off'."

Retired murder DCI Colin Sutton: "I would also like to make the point that Operation Grange was so restricted from the start as to be destined to fail."

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley made public on national TV that Operation Grange is a complete fraud.

Ex-DCI Andy Redwood had a "revelation moment" on BBC's Crimewatch on 14th October 2013 when he announced that Operation Grange had eliminated the Tanner sighting - which opened up the 'window of opportunity', in accordance with their remit, to allow the fake abduction to happen.

Despite "irrelevant behaviour" from blood and cadaver dogs in the McCann's apartment, on Kate McCann's clothes, and in the car they hired three weeks after Maddie disappeared, Ex-Chief Inspector, Ian Horrocks, said: "The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter is frankly preposterous."

Gerry McCann called for example to be made of 'trolls'. SKY News reporter Martin Brunt doorstepped Brenda Leyland on 2 October 2014. She was then found dead in a Leicester hotel room. Brenda paid the price. She paid with her life.

Ex-Deputy Chief Constable, Jim Gamble QPM, congratulated SKY reporter, Martin Brunt, on twitter for doorstepping Brenda Leyland on behalf of Gerry McCann.
