July 2007 diary and blog

Post by tigger on 17.02.12 9:26

MONDAY, JULY 23: I got up at 7.00 and went running. I was surrounded by a
pack of dogs (more or less 12)—it really wasn’t a nice experience. I
went to the flat, high part of the cliff as I felt really alone and a
little frightened. Please God, don’t let Madeleine be buried here.

I'm not for this cliff (Rocha Negra) being somewhere where Maddie has ever been, alive or dead. I think the exotic name of the rock, the dramatic setting and also possibly the setting for one of their photoshoots, where the two of them look out over the ocean, is all misdirection.
For a start, it would be rather difficult to 'bury' anything on a rock?

But ' don't let Madeline be buried her?' is interesting. It conveys she doesn't know where she is buried, although she know she is buried.

Just over a week later they went to Huelva. Was 'burial' on her mind inasmuch that it was on a hillside and hopefully devoid of dogs digging things up?
Wildly guessing here.

dogs eat bones, don't they !

Post by bobbin on 17.02.12 9:49

Kate mentions the 'dogs' and how they menaced her when she ran up the hill. She also wrote of her running (was it with Matthew Oldfield?) when she had been bitten on the leg herself.
Dogs eat bones.
Yes, it would be difficult to 'bury' a body in the rocky ground of Rocha Negra. But she mentions being surrounded by about a dozen dogs at the top of the rock. Dogs do rome freely and in groups in Portugal, as in many places, and what would hungry dogs do if they came across some bones?

If I were bitten by a dog I'd have to see a doctor (whoops I am a doctor) or at least a pharmacist to clean up a wound and get some antibiotics as I'm on holiday and don't have a medicine bag apparently (no calpol remember). This is worse than a Barbara Cartland novel IMO.

dog bite,... check forr rabies,

Post by bobbin on 17.02.12 10:57

Wouldn't you also, at the very LEAST, get checked for rabies !!! A doctor would surely know that that would be the VERY FIRST thing you would do.
I can't find the symbol for a Homer Simpson 'DOH' but would certainly use it here if I could.

I've lived in a Med country...rabies is the least of your worries...it's not a rabid place and rabies is very rare. However, a bite from an animal needs to be tended to whatever country you live in.

I got bitten by a kitten in UK and ended up in hospital because I ignored the bite. All animals mouths are dirty (all human bites are worse so I'm lead to believe). If you are bitten by a dog you go seek a pharmacist at best imo.

Anyone who knows anything about how dogs behave in a pack would know that being bitten once by only one dog is highly unlikely. If bitten by one dog, that dog would have been the first to attack and the rest would have followed. There is no way that one dog bites and the rest look on and do nothing. The only course of action one can take in that situation is to counter attack the leader, which is the one attacking first and nine times out of ten, the dog will be so surprised that it backs down and slinks away with the rest. If it's the tenth time then you really are in trouble and probably won't be around to record the incident in your diary.

Mad dogs & Englishmen

Post by Guest on 17.02.12 13:28

Once bitten by a dog? No rabies treatment? Going out there again jogging regardless, on your own this time?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a post regarding the 'extravagant pink trainers', and bloody footprints to match?

And another angle: if you suspect your child to have been 'taken' by anonymous, doesn't normal caution dictate you do not go out on your own to deserted spots where anonymous might be, and could have been watching your daily jogging routine for days on end now, and might decide to strike again?

Venturing out on your own like this strongly suggests you know for a fact: that anonymous does not exist and therefor can be no threat to you.

Can someone please refer me to the 'pink trainers' incident?

From the Diary:
SATURDAY, JULY 7: We had breakfast and got the children ready as usual. At 10.30 the four of us went to the Algarve Shopping Centre.
The plan was to buy sandals and some other things for the children. However the journey was a disaster. We had to stop three times on the way there, since Sean and Amelie were crying alternately.
I began to feel that it had been a wasted day, even though Sean and Amelie had some good goes in Noddy's car and Popeye's boat. The return journey was slightly more bearable.
I had a 'moment' while we were having lunch. I saw a woman who looked pregnant and I began to think about when I was pregnant with Sean and Amelie. And then it hit me. (Kate then remembers a touching scene from the past.) Madeleine was coming to visit us later that evening, the look of wonder on her face, and afterwards she got in beside me in bed. She was and is so adorable'a real jewel, a real gift. And I painfully miss her.
At around 18.00 went to church. It was good... there was nobody else there. Later Gerry turned up and joined me and we went down as far as the rocks on the beach and talked a little about Madeleine. But I began to feel slightly pessimistic and fearful. Please, my God, prove to us that we are not wrong. But I was feeling worse. Please, my God, let this have a happy ending.
I have been thinking a lot about you today, Madeleine. I am so worried and frightened for you. I can only hope that God has you in his hands and brings you back to us soon. Please, my God, help us, help Madeleine.
We love her and we need her so much, and she loves us and needs us. Please, please, please make it so that we have some good news soon. Good night darling. I love you. (I can hardly wait to say 'See you tomorrow.') XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Apart from the obvious Barbara Cartland inspiration, (imo we can forget the whole of the last two paragraphs which seems to me like a formula repeated over and over again without much variation in the whole of the diary) the highlighted bits speak for themselves.

I just entered 'pink trainers' in the search box and got four topics - better to look there rather than me selecting bits and pieces for you. It's in the bewk as well.

what a drama queen. I wonder how often the word disaster is used by one or other of the McCanns to describe quite trivial incidents like having to stop a car a few times to tend to crying children.

'

'It's a disaster! Gerry told his relatives on the phone... 3/5/07.

'The return journey was more bearable'.
Looks to me they didn't have to cope too much with that sort of thing, either in Rothley or elsewhere.
But she has been thinking about Madeleine a lot that particular day. Which infers that she doesn't do that every day.
O yes, and it's a Saturday, a family day, as Gerry tells us frequently in his blog. No choice really, the only day the creche is closed because it's a change-over day at MW.

THURSDAY, JULY 12:
I hate the person who took my Madeleine—the same one who has caused all
this trouble, who made us feel worthless and mistrustful and mainly who
has frightened my beautiful Madeleine. I will never forgive that
person/those people for this. Never.

Today
I washed the Cuddle Cat (Madeleine's favourite soft toy and a constant
comfort to heartbroken Kate). I was hoping not to have to do it until
Madeleine returns, but it was now quite dirty and smelly, unfortunately
without the smell of Madeleine on it. XX

No matter how many times I read that diary entry I still can't help the violent feeling of disgust.

Odd thing to say trouble. Wouldn't you say pain, sadness, sorrow or worry.

Yes! But now if I separate the two statements : 'I hate the person who took my Madeleine' -- 'the same one who has caused all this trouble'
It is the same person but he did two separate things: he took Madeleine and he caused all this trouble.
these two things are separate in her mind. The trouble she is talking about isn't the 'taking of Madeleine' - it is a separate issue.

So: July 12th - is Murat still an arguido?
Is there another person who was party to the 'handover' and has subsequently caused a different kind of trouble?

very interesting. I hadn't even considered the other valid points raised, it was different things I thought sounded wrong.

Firstly, not one scrap of personal responsibilty taken; as always - it's that faceless person out there, it's all their fault. Her hatred is directed at a fictional character, so no need for forgiveness - ever!. Reminds me of Jane Tanners photofit

Secondly, NOBODY can make you feel worthless and mistrustful, (I know others will disagree) ultimately you do this to youself by allowing it. Kate McCann portrays herself as an intelligent & spiritual person, she should know this.

( and mainly who

Ignoring the last part of of this offering, we have three separate transgressions of one particular person.

This person has had something to do with the disappearance of Madeleine
Subsequently, he has caused unspecified trouble which does not have to be directly related to the taking of Madeleine.
Which made them feel worthless and mistrustful. The trouble made them feel like this, that is before this trouble, they were not mistrustful. They trusted this person who has now made them feel worthless (not taken into account).
Their wishes and/or demands are not important to this person. For this she will never forgive that person (or those people - this is added to keep it vague?)

" I saw a woman who looked pregnant and I began to think about when I was pregnant with Sean and Amelie."

I began to think...why would you begin to think. You think. All thoughts have a beginning but maybe I'm nit-picking here. Why would you think about being pregnant with S & A? Your first born is missing. Wouldn't you be holding onto every aspect of Madeleine. Wouldn't that stir a memory of being pregnant with her?

"I saw a woman who LOOKED pregnant"...now what do we make of that?
