Thanks Jean. What an odd little summer house. No off street parking, just a drop off point through the crash barriers, leading up to the front door. Very bizarre..

Ah ha, yes that's it. thank you.
Urrgh yes not nice, much too close for comfort, with his hand pushed up under her breast, although I don't think he was particularly fond of women, he described them as 'brain damage' on more than one occasion on the Louis Theroux documentary.
Although his mother, 'the duchess' was an exception.

Mike Gunnill's photos of Haut la Garenne

@PeterMac wrote:Is this the photo you were referring to? I have no idea if that is Haute de la G, but it would seem odd to deny that you were in the photo.

Whilst on the subject of Jersey children's home Haut la Garenne, we should surely pause awhile and recall the exceptional contribution made by 'photojournalist' Mike Gunnill, a former esteemed member of this very forum, to the promotion of this place notorious for the systematic abuse of young children.

His deep fascination with Haut la Garenne was manifest by the extent to which he published literally hundreds of photos of this house of wickedness on his website - until, that is, Jill Havern on her 'Abuse of Power' website drew public attention to his endeavours:

It is also of note that Gunnill appears to have a strange fascination with children's home Haut de la Garenne in Jersey, where serious child abuse and possibly also child murders occurred over three decades. He proved his deep interest in this subject by reproducing literally scores of photos from this notorious institution on his website.

Soon after that, he removed them all!

Many people have raised lots of money for Charity. The difference being they don't court adulation for doing it and keep it private as it should be. Saville spoke and acted like a thug on the Louis Theroux programme boasting about "tying people up" and his language was a bit like Kate McCanns. I don't admire people like that.

BBC axe investigation into Jimmy Savile

Post by Guest on 08.01.12 11:33

BBC axe investigation into Sir Jimmy Saville and schoolgirls

by Nick Owens, Sunday Mirror 8/01/2012

The BBC launched a two-month probe into sex claims against its own iconic presenter Sir Jimmy Savile... only for it to be axed by executives.

Reporters investigated historic allegations about inappropriate behaviour relating to the Jim’ll Fix It legend.

Bosses of flagship BBC2 show Newsnight launched the investigation into Sir Jimmy in the days after his death on October 29.

But they were eventually ordered to scrap the report, which had been due on screen only days before a BBC1 Christmas special celebrating the star’s work.

The Sunday Mirror can reveal that Newsnight conducted interviews with three women who met Sir Jimmy in the 1970s when he was at the height of his fame as presenter of Top of the Pops.

The trio were all teenagers attending a school in Surrey which Sir Jimmy regularly visited as part of his charity work and where he apparently took girls out for a spin in his car.

During the interviews each woman is believed to have said that he had taken them out individually in his car and behaved inappropriately.

One, now in her 50s, agreed to waive her anonymity and speak to Newsnight on camera.

The TV journalists discovered that complaints about the star were made to Surrey Police in 2007 – almost 40 years after the alleged incidents.

An investigation was carried out but the Crown Prosecution Service decided to take no action due to insufficient evidence.

Sir Jim was a rich man who had never married and his life had attracted speculation and gossip.

New reports emerged about his colourful lifestyle after he died, including claims that he had fathered a love child.

TRUTH

Other reports suggested that the real Jimmy was far from the bubbly showman he appeared on screen.

He was said to be a recluse who preferred his own company and could not stand being around children, despite helping youngsters on Jim’ll Fix It.

A BBC source told the Sunday Mirror that by interviewing the three women, Newsnight hoped to establish the truth of the claims and details of the extent of the 2007 police investigation.

But senior BBC executives then halted the investigation.

Our source said Newsnight reporters were told to scrap it. It clashed with a Boxing Day Jim’ll Fix It tribute show hosted by actor Shane Richie.

Yesterday a BBC aide insisted Newsnight were investigating alleged failings within the CPS, and the programme was canned because they did not have enough proof to run the story.

A spokesman said: “The BBC gathers information on hundreds of stories and not all make it to air. In this case the angle we were pursuing could not be substantiated.”

The BBC insider said the decision to commission the report and then scrap it just before Christmas angered many staff.

“People are up in arms that they spent so long and committed two months of time and effort only for this to be canned,” said the source.

“Someone, somewhere should have realised that a report trying to uncover a dark side of one of the   BBC’s favourite sons   was a silly thing to do.

“It cost thousands of pounds. This is cash which could have been used on other shows that has been poured down the drain.”

A Surrey Police spokesman told the Sunday Mirror: “In 2007 Surrey Police received a historic allegation alleged to have occurred during the 1970s.

“The claims were investigated and no further action was taken.” A spokesman for the CPS added: “Following an investigation by Surrey Police, the CPS reviewing lawyer advised the police that no further action should be taken due to lack of evidence.”

The BBC’s decision to investigate one of its most famous stars upset his friends and family.

Niece Janet Humble told the Sunday Mirror she was angry that Newsnight had tried to make the programme.

“It looks like muck-raking,” she said. “As a family we just wish Sir Jim could be left to rest in peace.

“He did more good than bad in his life and how many celebrities can say that?”

His friend of 30 years Stephen Purdew, who helped organise the star’s funeral, said: “These are allegations from 40 years ago. He’s not even alive to defend himself.

“Sir Jim was a great man, a legend who should be remembered for all the wonderful things he did for other people.”

Sir Jimmy was widely admired for his charity work and philanthropy, giving away 90 per cent of his income.

The cigar-chomping star – catchphrase “Now then, now then” – took part in 212 marathons, raising £40 million for good causes.

It led to him being knighted and forming a close relationship with members of the Royal Family and politicians including former prime minister Baroness Thatcher.

Struggling Newsnight – edited by Peter Rippon since 2008 – is under the microscope at the Beeb because of the decline in its audience, now only 750,000-850,000 per night.

I think that the woman claiming to be his daughter is about as genuine as a PDL abductor and is just hoping for an inheritance from her "dear old dad". There was no reason why she couldn't have been acknowledged by Jimmy in his lifetime as his daughter so the fact that she has waited until now to come out with her story speaks volumes.

Gets her publicity and there was Paula Yates who found out rather publicly who her father was. But I think you're right. Only reason I posted this is because the BBC knew - JS had taken out injunctions and BBC wasn't going to rock the boat.

It has been established on this topic that there is a photograph of JS in Jersey whilst he denied ever having been there.

Sir Jimmy Savile - child abuser?

Post by Tony Bennett on 14.02.12 10:34

Both before and after his death, rumours persisted about Jimmy Savile sexually abusing under-age children.

When these were discussed after he died, some ridiculed the allegations, saying they were an affront to Sir Jimmy's memory, and there was no truth in them.

But these persistent rumours have now surfaced in Britain's mainstream media, prompted by the news that the BBC spiked an ongoing Newsnight investigation into a number of allegations about him, including sex with under age girls on BBC premises:

But he wanted it more pro McCann than they actually went for in the end. Heaven knows what it would have been like if he'd had his way.

"He said: "So far as I can see, investigative journalism at the BBC is over.
"The broadcast script contains nuances that suggest that the McCanns still have a case to answer. The BBC should have had the courage to state that this is simply not so."
