Still, I dont think thats too bad Tony, the last two paragraphs are quite clear. Its a shame a large publication did not print something similar.

Was is wise to admit in a newspaper interview that you have broken three of the sixteen undertakings?

Imo a good fair and unbiased article, putting forward the facts with no embellishment. As David said, shame others can't do the same!! I see you can add comments.........

Da Troof, very good point, and that illustrates one of the risks of talking to journalists. Let me make it plain, on the record, without further delay, that:Da Troof wrote:Was is wise to admit in a newspaper interview that you have broken three of the sixteen undertakings?
...what I told Chris Moss, Chief Reporter for the 'Harlow Star', was that "I was only accused of breaking three out of the 16 undertakings"
ETA: Please feel free to add careful, polite comments to the article that will not embarrass the 'Harlow Star' and force them to pull the comments

I added a comment forty five minutes ago saying I am right behind Mr Bennett as I have read the police files.
Still waiting for it to be shown.

The bigger papers trawl thru the regional/local publications looking for inspiration. This is a story worthy of a national daily if not a weekender.

It would be good if the nationals followed up on the story but sadly I'm not optimistic that they will.

The story isn't opening up. it's just a blank page, although the heading is still on their website. Has CR had it whooshed, I wonder?

I'm hopeful they would Jean. Perhaps, when the trial starts. It seems many organisations have something to hide in this current climate of exposés so the trial may prove to be a useful diversion/cover story.

Former Harlow solicitor could face jail over McCann allegations
A RETIRED lawyer from Harlow is facing the threat of a jail sentence for contempt of court following his latest run-in with the parents of missing schoolgirl Madeleine McCann.
Tony Bennett (65), of Chippingfield, Old Harlow, has been accused of multiple breaches of formal undertakings he signed in November 2009 in which he agreed to stop making allegations that Madeleine’s parents – Kate and Gerry McCann – were involved in covering up their daughter’s death in 2007.
Tony Bennett
Three–year-old Madeleine went missing in May 2007 from an apartment complex in Praia da Luz, Portugal, where her parents had been holidaying with friends.
The McCanns believe their daughter was kidnapped and have mounted a high-profile campaign in a bid to find her. But despite widespread investigations by both the Portugeuse and British police, she has never been found.
In 2008 Mr Bennett published a controversial book – What Really Happened to Madeleine McCann – in which he made a number of allegations relating to the case
Last Wednesday lawyers acting for the McCanns went to the High Court in London to argue that Mr Bennett had persisted in spreading false allegations against them both online and in print and as a result they were now seeking his imprisonment – or other punishment – for alleged contempt of court.
For his part, Mr Bennett is asking the court to vary the undertakings he gave in 2009 so he can publish what he claims is "credible evidence" that Madeleine died in the holiday apartment, that her parents have covered this up and have lied about matters connected to her reported disappearance.
The court heard the McCanns denied there was any truth in any of the allegations which Mr Bennett "wishes to be free to make" and argued that his continued publication of "numerous grave and actionable libels" against them amounted to harassment.
Mr Justice Tugendhat underlined the vital importance of court orders and undertakings being obeyed and directed that the couple’s case against Mr Bennett should be heard "as soon as practicable".
Speaking to the Star this week, Mr Bennett vowed to fight for his right to free speech and said he believed he had "valid" arguments for his defence.
"Britain’s libel laws are so oppressive that I had no alternative but to agree to the terms of the formal undertakings set out by the McCanns’ lawyers in November 2009," he said.
"Of the 16 undertakings I signed there are only three which have been broken. I want to make it absolutely clear that I have never claimed the McCanns killed or were responsible for Madeleine’s death."
He added: "I believe that in a country where freedom of speech is valued so highly I should have the right to publish what I believe to be credible evidence about what happened to Madeleine."

Why are they referring to Madeleine as a schoolgirl?

Just reading that I googled books on Madeleine McCann and as we know, there have hardly been any. Just KM's book, Vanished by Danny Collins who lives in Spain, and Faked Abduction by Stevo, who is in America? Not forgetting of course the Portuguese books not available here from Mr Amaral and Paulo Cristavao's book. Not many is it?
Rather odd, considering it is the most high profile child disappearance in history. You would think authors would be clamouring to write about this.......yet nothing. Is this because the publishers won't touch it, or have been told not to??

1. Dr Christian Ludke, German Forensic Psychologist: Wrote a lengthy article in a German professional magazine claiming that there were numerous indications that the McCanns were guilty of covering up the death of Madeleine. He is a respected forensic psychologist/psychiatrist based in Essen, north Germany.
2. Dr Paulo Sargento is a University Professor, Forensic Psychologist and author in Portugal. He has published numerous articles in which he suggests that the McCanns are not telling the truth about what happened to Madeleine. I have not exhibited them, but they can be found at this internet link: http://www.mccannfiles.com/id227.html
3. Daniela Prousa, German psychiatrist and author: Wrote: Analyse des Vermisstenfalles Madeleine McCann (An analysis of the case of missing Madeleine McCann). She has analysed, using essentially an ‘Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis’ (IPA), the McCanns’ accounts regarding the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine McCann. In short, Prousa concludes from her analysis that Madeleine McCann died due to an accidental fall off the living room window-sill or sofa, and that the parents covered this up - a conclusion identical to that of Madeleine McCann.
4. Pat Brown, Criminal profiler, U.S.: Wrote recent e-book on the McCanns, “The Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann”, by Pat Brown, a ‘criminal profiler’. The work is based on principles of criminal profiling, and concludes that Madeleine had died in her parents’ apartment and that the McCanns had covered this up.

Re: Harlow Star covers the McCanns' application to put me in jail
Apart from calling Madeleine a school girl and saying Tony admitted to 3, it's the best write up in a newspaper that I've seen. if the big newspapers published that I bet Tony's book would be be in high demand if he was allowed to distribute it.

Re: Harlow Star covers the McCanns' application to put me in jail
I'm not including articles. I was meaning books, written in English and available here. The only one that really fits the criteria is this one as far as I can see, and that was very early on.
The Daily Express is publishing the first UK book on Madeleine McCann. Written by Robert Downing and published by Express parent company Northern & Shell on 10th December, Madeleine: A Most Heartbreaking and Extraordinary Disappearance chronicles the story since the three-year-old’s disappearance in May.

I missed out this one:
The Madeleine McCann Case Files: Volume 1, with introduction by Tony Benentt, [February 2010]. ISBN 978--0-9563351-1-1, paperback
* Still available via The Madeleine Foundation website ( www.madeleinefoundation.org.uk) , price £4.00 inc. postage (pay via PayPal) or order by post
* Never banned
* Still available
* 108 pages of selected material from the officially-released Portuguese Police files
* But...
...depending on how the court cases against me go, it could end up being the third book on Madeleine McCann to be banned...
