I hope these people go down for what they did to Madeleine.

Re: Photographs and memories
There is one thing, which at first glance would appear to go off on a tangent, which made me realise that this case is far from normal and everything is not as it seems.
Do you remember the copies of the McCanns passport pictures which appeared in the files, Volume 10 as I remember? G McCanns passport was issued in 2004, via the FCO (therefore somewhere abroad). K Healy's was issued in 1998 in the UK.
G McCann is beaming. K Healy is side on to the camera and smiling.

The Government's IPS website has the rules on passport pictures. These new rules came into force on 5 October 1998, the day from which it became a requirement for children to have their own passport. Amongst the many rules are these:
The rules for passport photos
The photographs you supply with your application must:
But if you look at the pictures the McCanns used, their departure from the rules are not minor slippages, they are glaring inconsistencies. Those pictures would never have got through ordinarily. Am I being overly conspiratorial here? Or are they both really spooks, as has been alleged before?

The rules for passport photos
The photographs you supply with your application must:
- show you with a neutral expression and your mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows)
- show you on your own (babies should not have toys or a dummy, and there shouldn’t be other people in the photo)
- be in colour, not black and white
- be identical
- be taken within the last month
- be 45 millimetres high x 35 millimetres wide - this is the standard size when you have a passport photo taken in a photo booth or studio (you should not trim a larger photograph to meet this condition)
- be clear and in sharp focus, with a clear difference between your face and the background
- be taken against a plain cream or plain light grey background
- not show you with red-eye
- be of you facing forward and looking straight at the camera
- not be torn, creased, or marked
- be printed on plain white photographic paper
- be free from shadows
- be taken with your eyes open and clearly visible (no sunglasses or tinted glasses and no hair across your eyes)
- be free from reflection or glare on your glasses, and the frames must not cover your eyes - the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) recommends that, if possible, you remove your glasses
- be professionally printed (photographs printed at home are not acceptable)
- show your full head, without any head covering, unless you wear one for religious beliefs or medical reasons
- be taken with nothing covering your face - you should make sure nothing covers the outline of your eyes, nose or mouth
- be a close-up of your head and shoulders with a recommended head height (the distance between the bottom of your chin and the crown of your head) between 29 and 34 mm
- not have any writing on the front or back, except on certified photos - trademarks or photographic printing on the back must not show through
But if you look at the pictures the McCanns used, their departure from the rules are not minor slippages, they are glaring inconsistencies. Those pictures would never have got through ordinarily. Am I being overly conspiratorial here? Or are they both really spooks, as has been alleged before?

Re: Photographs and memories
Actually I hadn't noticed that before The Shelfstacker, well spotted
I think the photo definitely has to be a face on photo, they won't accept any other, I remember when I applied for mine, I sent off a recent photo (trying to save doing more), which was not quite face on and they rejected it.

Re: Photographs and memories
I also thought Kate McCann/Healey was born in March 1967? Certainly Wikipedia does!
Unless my eyes need testing the picture of her passport shows her birth date as 5th March 1960
Can anybody help me out here?

It certainly looks like that sherlock - that would make her 51

No ... it's really weird - there is an 8 in the issue date (Dec 1998) and it is quite clearly an 8, with a definite 'waist' to it , whereas the DOB is definitely a 0.
How odd

Yes I magnified it and it does look like a 0, I must say. Will go and look see if there are any more images anywhere.

I magnified it so it was the only thing that was on my screen and it is an 0 and not an 8
Be interesting to compare it with other pics of the passport - if there are any and anybody can find them

Dodgy passports
In my opinion the disputed figure (8 or 0) is not the same as the 0 on the 05 and when you lean back from the screen and view it, it does look like 8.
P.S. This has now been confirmed.

Re: Photographs and memories
Yep - definitely an 8
I'm still bemused about the sideways angle to the passport photo though - even before the new rules came in in '98 I though they had to be a frontal face shot ... that one is practically a studio portrait LOL

Re: Photographs and memories
How odd. There is no way they accept grinning, smiling or side ways on. I had to retake passpost photos of myself and my son four times to get them just so. They were incredibly strict about rejecting smiles or off centre photos, even of small, wriggly babies.
Yet another example of one rule for us, another for the McCanns.

Exactly. Which is why, and particularly after I saw the latitude they were allowed on the passport pics well before May 2007, I came to the impression that they are anything but your average, run of the mill, common or garden doctors. Something distinguishes them. Distinguishes as in sets them apart rather than making them commendable.

It makes me feel that many things were 'in place' before Madeleine went missing.
It makes me feel that the fate of Madeleine was arranged.
It makes me feel that a whitewash is inevitable.

This strangest of cases
I share your feelings Ufercoffy but I'm trying to keep positive that for once justice will prevail.

The latitude on the passport photos was obviously quite common because my passport photo dating from 2004 is the same sort of sideways view, which was regarded as perfectly acceptable.
