Goncalo Amaral to publish his book in the UK Empty Goncalo Amaral to publish his book in the UK

Post by sharonl 27.03.11 7:10

This piece from The Daily Star is not really as bad as it seems, it starts with the usual gutter press manipulation and tales of bungling cops and sacked detectives but goes on to remind the world that there may not have been an abduction. It also states that Amaral`s book is back on sale and is heading for the UK

EX-COP IN MADELEINE MCCANN BOOK BID

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/183202/Ex-cop-in-Madeleine-McCann-book-bid/

THE police chief sacked over the bungled hunt for Madeleine McCann is trying to get his once-banned book published in Britain

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star Sunday, Goncalo Amaral said he is desperate to have his account of the search on sale in the UK.

And he welcomed Kate McCann’s book about her daughter’s disappearance, which is to be released soon.

Mr Amaral claims that Madeleine died in a Praia da Luz holiday apartment in Portugal.

Earlier this month he had an injunction banning the sale of The Truth Of The Lie lifted by the Portuguese courts.

He said: “I have the right to publish any book in the UK and the British people have the right to be able to read and know about what may have happened on the night of May 3, 2007.”

It was then that Madeleine, aged three, vanished from the apartment and has not been seen since.

Last night the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said they would be making no comment about Mr Amaral’s plans.

Mrs McCann’s book, simply titled Madeleine, is due out on what would be the child’s eighth birthday, May 12.

Any proceeds will go towards funding the family’s search for Maddie.

Thank you sharonl thumbsup

Not a bad piece really except for the first line. At least they have mentioned his book, and the lost appeal, which they certainly wouldn't have before. Clarence Mitchell seems to be lost for words for once! I hope that this book is published soon, people have a right to read about his side of the case, as well as the McCann's and make their own judgement.

Good evening.
Well this is good news, if a little sullied with the sacked and bungled words. But eh only a couple of words within some very good news. I really do hope that it happens because the british public without internet availability should be able to see the other side of this case.

And I love this, quote...

And he welcomed Kate McCann’s book about her daughter’s disappearance, which is to be released soon.

I just bet he does. Kate be afraid, very afraid. In fact has this book of yours been proof read and I dont mean spelling and the like?

Is this in fact why the book, which months ago we were told definitively by close family was finished and was being edited, is now suddenly still being written ? Have Carter-Ruck and Bates Wells and Braithwaite, - the Fund's lawyers - read it and told her to chop out huge sections and carefully re-word others in the light of the Portuguese Supreme Court's ruling ? Bear in mind we have also been told the exact number of pages, which is odd when you think it officially hasn't been finished, (unless that includes a lot of blank ones.) But then again we have been told it will be 'very truthful', and also 'an account of the truth' so perhaps we shouldn't expect too much.

Kate should have told the truth to the Police and not have to write a book in order to tell the truth. But then, of course, the book is just about raising money.

Good evening,
I would like to think that this piece is the breech in the dam. Surely other news media must be champing at the bit....it can't be only us mere mortals that see the McC's for what they are?.........can it?

The book will invite more discussion/opinion that could be interesting methinks
