Fund Information & Discrepancies (Year 1)

Post by HiDeHo on Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:12 am

Its a compilation of all the Fund articles, research and questions. A real eye opener to some of the income from the Fund that doesn't appear to be shown in the year end report

Prior to the 'Official' year end reports from the fund I did some research on where they were receiving the money from, the fundraisers, donations etc.

My figures from 'confirmed' amounts were surprisingly close to the year end figures (relatively).

Combining both figures from their official website and new figures released (according to McCanns)

Website figures rec'd to date Oct 7 07 ........................£1,090,000
Wristbands....................................................................£64,078
Bank Interest.................................................................£33,424
Express.......................................................................£550,000
TOTAL.......................................................................£1,737,602
(My researched 'confirmed' figures which DOESN'T include unconfirmed income)

£1,879,602 received until March 2008 according to official figures...

Considering there was a great deal of income from amounts and sources that I was not able to confirm AS WELL as the 'final' amount I was able to confirm, it was certainly an eye opener.

You can see some links to the articles I took the 'research' from on the FUND INFO page in the archived (read only) Madeleine Group which I migrated to Aimoo Madeleine McCann Forum.

Investigating Fund Threads

This was posted in 3A's but I am not sure if it was the most recent breakdown..
What I find incredible is that they may have received at least £4,000,000..probably in excess of £6,000,000 and yet only ever quote what they have left..usually around £500,000

Its very confusing putting all the figures together but below is a 'summary' I posted on another thread, showing that their 'fund' income is far more than most people realise

August 29th 07............Fund rec'd to date .................................£1,005,000
Sept /Oct 07................Fund rec'd ............................................£53,000
Sept 16 ......................Stephen Winyard (defence fund DNA)....£100,000
Oct 3 07 'Leicester Mercury' Wristbands.....................£57,000
Dec 8 07.................Sir Richard Branson.(Legal costs)................£100,000
March 08................Express payout ..........................................£550,000
June 08...................Interest on £500,000 yr.............................£30,000
Sept 7 08.................Brian Kennedy.........................................UNLIMITED
Oct 16 08................Tapas from newspaper damages...............£375,000
Nov 11 08................Liverpool Races..........................................£5000

Above total of FUND RECEIVED...(that is KNOWN) £2,275,000

The above amount does NOT include money received from
Sir Philip Green and Brian Kennedy and the Doctor.......................?
or other anonymous backers.......................................................?
or any amounts from the public to the fund since Oct 07................?
or the income from their TV and magazine interviews.....................?
or the envelopes to Rothley...........................................................?
or the income from sales of wristbands and tshirts...........................?
or fundraising events since Sept 07 .................................................?
or any money possibly already received from the book and movie deals that Clarence discussed!.......................................................?
or the 'year-long deal' with Hello magazine......................................?
or the unknown amount from News oF the World ref the 'Diaries' article....?
Lets not forget their possible 'deal' with IMG for the movie they were considering.......?

At a guess I would say those amounts could easily run into a further £2,000,000...and thats WITHOUT anything Brian Kennedy has 'donated' and paid....along with other income not added yet!

£4,000,000 (approx) and they continue to claim they need money? :-?

It may have been close to £6,000,000 and all we ever hear is £1,000,000 spent looking for Maddie and £500,000 left in the fund...

*******************************************************************************

I have been updating these figures for a while, but felt there is enough included in the figures below to expose the Mc's for receiving far more than is 'believed'.

One only has to make a guess of the amounts in the bottom list ADDED to the £2,275,000 KNOWN amount you can start to appreciate the enormity of the fuind they are 'hiding' when 'admitting' to spending approx £1,000,000 on the search for Maddie.

What I find incredible (by my estimate) is that they have received at least £4,000,000..probably in excess of £6,000,000 and yet only ever quote what they have left..usually around £500,000

Please keep in mind that some amounts MAY have been held back for their 'legal fees' and I have NOT included the amounts pledged for a 'Reward'

***********************************************************
ANOTHER POST FROM 3A's
(Will try to edit duplicate info)

"Gerry McCann has admitted that much of the £2.5 million in the Find Madeleine Fund has been spent."

Here are last years figures with MANY examples of income not yet reported...

*****************************************************
Combining both figures from their official website and new figures released (according to McCanns)

Website figures rec'd to date Oct 7 07 ......................................£1,090,000
Wristbands....................................................................£64,078
Bank Interest.................................................................£33,424
Express.......................................................................£550,000
TOTAL.......................................................................£1,737,602

Income to fund for year ending March 31 08...............................£1,879,602

£1,879,602 received until March 2008 according to official figures...

By my calculations...£620,000 received SINCE March 2008...according to Gerry...

The above figures do NOT include the following received between October 7th 07 and March 31st 2008
-Sir Philip Green and Brian Kennedy and the Doctor
-anonymous backers
-amounts from the public to the fund
-income from their TV and magazine interviews.
-envelopes to Rothley.
-sales of wristbands and tshirts not included in LM payout.
-fundraising events ..
-money possibly already received from the book and movie deals that Clarence -discussed!.
-'year-long deal' with Hello magazine..
-possible 'deal' with IMG for the movie they were considering.

£620,000 received SINCE March 2008 ?

The payment from the T7 that was donated to the fund covers most of that 'accountable' £620,000.....

Are we to presume that ALL the money they receive from outside sources (some examples above) go straight to their PERSONAL INCOME?

Just to remind you of a few questions regarding the fund....48 of them to be exact....

QUESTIONS (from 3A members)-

1) The amounts claimed for some of the backers (Branson Wingard etc) are PLEDGED amounts for legal fees or DNA tests (Wingard) or do we know if any money has exchanged hands?

2) Money from Brian Kennedy is/was paid directly to those involved (Metodo, Clarrie etc) and is therefore not considered income to the fund but an 'expense' or a possible write off for him personally?

3) Is all income received from interviews, magazines, possible movie/book deals considered 'personal' income to the McCann's and therefore not subject to 'fund' scrutiny?

You can see some of the miscellaneous articles and figures I compiled while 'working' on the fund in Madeleine Group here...

QUESTIONS
1) Why were they claiming at the start of the year that they were running out of funds?
2) WEBSITE .....£37,071.00.....FFS!!!
3) Mobile phone calls?
4) why, after (20) corrected to 10 months of "searching", is there still a surplus of £1,064.489?
5) Bank charges. Equates to £141 per WEEK what for, the account is in credit so there are no overdraft fees?
6) Website fees: Far, far overpriced. £712 per week what for?
7) Awareness posters: Weren't they charging for these from the website? Where were they exactly? (Waste of time l never saw any)
8) Distributing merchandise. How was this done.... if this is standing around and handing them out K & G did that so was this payment to them?
9) what were the 111,000 pounds legal fees for? *as they were unrelated and separate from the fund legal fees*
10) "The fund spent £81,904 on posters and television and newspaper adverts On Sept 17th 2007 £80,000 advertising campaign announced. What has happened to the figures re the poster's etc which were promoted prior to the Sept 2007 statement ?
11) I would like a break down of the money paid in search fees- who was paid and how much?
12) What were Insurance fees for?
13) they might say £111K in pursuing those pesky newspapers but when they got their out of court settlements that would have included their legal fees?
14) Posters -17,400 packs were produced, costing the Find Madeleine Fund £3,000. Where does this fit in the accounts?
15) I can find no mention of cleaning fluids or freezer bags.(CaboFrio)
16) All things considered the money for the search equates to approx 12% of the income. I think that's appalling. Aren't they expecting to find Maddie?
17) rent for villa up to arguido time (was this free or paid by Kennedy?)
According to the DVD rental on the villa from 01 July - 31 August was €6,000.00 - the extra time upto early September when they left was €1000.00. The agreement was made out to Mr and Mrs Mccann
18) cost of hire car(s) pre arguido time
19) friends and family expenses (flying to and fro and accommodation, I would not have thought they would have paid themselves)
20) What about the extra security they have had to have at Rothley, or would that have been payed for by the ever giving tax payer?
21) Is £13,366 a reasonable figure for the auditing of a set of accounts for a company this size?
22) Where are the mortgage payments listed ?
23) Where are the amounts people have send by Royal Mail/braun paper pag, to Rothley ?
24) where does it show the value of stock held .... all those unsold wristbands and t-shirts ??
I read somewhere that the t-shirts are sold out.
25) if there IS public outrage because a company has clearly cooked the books, does anything happen?
26) Can a company be required to provide more detailed, itemized accounts?
27) Is there enough evidence to complain that this is a fraud?
The Fund is fraudulent anyway. According the Fraud Act 2006, they are in violation of the law.See message Fri Jan 30, 2009 2:55 pm
28) does the fraud squad step in automatically? Or is there a way to prod them?
29) Can citizens who contributed complain directly to the fraud squad?
30) Does the website still cost £37k even if Gerry doesn't blog? Wink
31) Does the fund receive anything from internet hits to the websites?
32) where is the advertising for spain portugal that they said but strangly vanished never happend ?
33) that mobile van advtisment of maddie wheres the cost?
34) “Legal restrictions meant it could not be set up as a charity, so it is run as a not-for-profit company…” What legal restrictions are these? Did a trustee from the fund make a statement to this effect?
35) What are the exact reasons for it not being a charity?( see Fri Jan 30, 2009 10:28 am)
36) The amounts claimed for some of the backers (Branson Wingard etc) are PLEDGED amounts for legal fees or DNA tests (Wingard) or do we know if any money has exchanged hands?
37) Money from Brian Kennedy is/was paid directly to those involved (Metodo, Clarrie etc) and is therefore not considered income to the fund but an 'expense' or a possible write off for him personally?
38) Is all income received from interviews, magazines, possible movie/book deals considered 'personal' income to the McCann's and therefore not subject to 'fund' scrutiny?
39) is there any evidence of amounts that EXCEED the £142,000 claimed to be the only income from Oct 7 07 until March 31st 08 (except Express and wristbands) any fund income surpassing that figure during those dates would not be accounted for in the McCanns 'year end'
40) Do we know whether Sept 16 .07 Stephen Winyard (defence fund DNA) £100,000 for DNA tests and December 10th 07 Branson's £100,000 for legal costs would have actually exchanged hands or would they be separate into another fund or be paid direct, therefore becoming part of their own personal accounting?
41) Is there another fund for Legal Costs?
42) villa rent-hire car-family visits-why wouldnt they pay for themselves?
43) Is it yet clear whether or not the £500,000 from the Daily Express and the libel money the other Tapas donated to the fund are included in these figures. (Express payout was before March 19 so should be included Tapas money was later and not included - Oct 19th Gerry McCann thanks Tapas Seven for donating legal fees to Maddie fund )See message Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:54 pm
44) Why is the tax bill only just over 12K? That seems incredibly small on those income and profit figures
45) Why did they use expensive London based professional services for a company with the bulk of its directors in the east midlands?
46) if their legal bills do not include defense lawyers does that mean their litigation is just generic legal advice for running a company? ( see message Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:13 pm)
47) Why is their a profit when it is a "not for profit" company.
48) (Re donations processed free of charge) Is it possible that the bank started charging later on, perhaps, after the pair were made arguidos?

COMMENTS
1) Even our MPs don't put that kind of money for a website on their way over the top expenses!
2) Anyone got a definition of media monitoring? Clarence was a head of the MMU before his plankship with these 2, does that have any bearing on it?
3) I am currently building a website for a company that is 5 times the size of the McScams and they are moaning at paying me £700!
4) We all know these Accounts are a joke, but when so much Public money is involved I wonder how thorough the Auditors
were in checking receipts for expenditure before approving the Accounts.
5) BACS, bill payments and cheques cost around 35p per transaction. (That would be 404 payees per week!)
6) It would be interesting to see how much of this is traced back by invoices from Brian Kennedys company.
7) I thought that Brian Kennedy Millionnaire pal the McCanns was bankrolling money out as well, if they have coughed up all this money from the fund, what has Brian Kennedy been paying for.
8) The fund has hit the headlines...we should look beneath, probably the shield for something much worse for the McTeam...
9) the money from sales just does not make sense.
10) Considering the amount of time they were there up to being declared arguidos, I do believe that the cost of all these (villa, hire car, visits) would be condsiderably more than the figure they submitted for travel/accom etc.
11) These accounts should have been released with much more detail than they have been IMO.
12) Clarence did say that it shows that every penny was well spent.
It doesn't show anything of the sort though, so let's have much more transparency Clarence, and a much more revealing audit display.
13) 26k for media monitoring....if they mean chimps maybe if just keeping an eye on the press and tv...WHAT!!! their family charged to read the newspapers???
14) maybe this was the very reason for gerry going back to Portugal...Look doners, I've returned... we are still looking for Madeleine..using the money appropiately
15) This thread is a good idea, but is not in a form suitable to send to the press, i.e. including references to theories and forum members' names on it. It should just be a list of questions which need answering, without those references.
16) I thought the website was free and with just a small cost
17) something is happening with all the latest news leaking out.
18) any new business (and sorry that's what poor Madeleine has been made into very sadly) is lucky to NOT be in the red at end of 1st financial year...huge surplus
19) If it were my child that 'had been abducted', as soon as money was coming into the fund, I would be spending it. (and I might be a bit more careful how I spent it ..... M3? ... yeah, right.)
20) I think these questions should go to Stuart Prior
21) Perhaps it would be appropriate for a letter, written from the questions on this thread, to go to the appropriate governmental agency.
22) 'The Home Office reply seems unequivocal about whether or not the investigation is on-going.
Have the media picked up on this yet? If the case has been archived in Portugal, the Home Office can only be referring to the Leicestershire Police Force.' If there is any chance whatsoever that the Leicestershire Police Force is investigating the McCanns for any reason, it would be a shame to compile these excellent questions and just let them drop.
23) If the accounts are reporting a surplus of £1,064,489 to the end of March 2008, what will be the figure to the end of March 2009 in next year's accounts. With newspaper settlements topping £900,000 but search fees running at just £250,000 in 2007, and little inclination to spend more than this, next year's carried forward figure could top £1,500,000.
24) So it would appear that if there were any income from appearances on TV, articles in magazines etc. it was ALL pocketed by the McCanns because it doesn't appear as income for the Fund.
25) The irony is that if people involved with the Fund are eventually charged, the merchandise may become valuable!
26) May 3 08 quote from john McCann “There is still a substantial amount of money left in the Madeleine fund. At the last count there was around 850,000 pounds,” he said - so they spent £214,489 within the month of April after the £1,064,489 surplus?
27) The whole thing is outrageous and a scam from head to toe.
28) I think the Express payout is taken up in the debtors column. Who else could owe them 500,000 odd thousand pounds?
29) Money will have been "earned" from the t-shirts, wristbands, a LOT of money (almost all profit I would presume) would be made from people paying to download a poster.
30) There is something not right when a company is not for profit yet it has a massive bank balance IMO.
31) It certainly has profitted the McCanns and their extended family. Surely that cannot be denied by anyone. Especially with the two mortgage payments.
32) Our business bank charges 35p per BATCH of cheques (Sadly l've never found out what the definition of maximum 'batch' is but it's not PER cheque.
33) (Re £13,366 Auditing fee) I think it's outrageous. It's not as if there's a whole raft of suppliers/customers invoices, or stock to go over, the turnover is mostly donations.
34) All donations will be processed free of charge. (See message Fri Jan 30, 2009 9:54 pm )
35) They could be including Paypal charges in the bank charges figure - Paypal charges are quite high for receiving small amounts.
36) Accountancy & Book Keeping Service £144.00 + vat per/month (See message Fri Jan 30, 2009 10:10 pm)
37) "1.3 Taxation The company remains accountable for taxation liabilities arising from capital gains, interest, trading activities and any other surplus arising other than from donations received" (See message Sat Jan 31, 2009 12:42 am )

SUPPORT
1) well why dont you or anyone else find out who the auditors are and launch a private prosection for false accounting - should be pretty straight forward as the accounts have now been registered ?[/quote]

£620,000 received SINCE March 2008 ?

NOTE: Amounts pledged may have been withdrawn.

The possibility of a second fund for legal fees may exist.

The above is compiled with the information available at the time, further comments are in my opinion.

No wonder they have not felt the need to pursue Halligen over the hundreds of thousands of pounds he is alleged to have screwed them for.

Blood and cadaver alerts
dismissed by UK Government

Retired DCI Gonçalo Amaral: "The English can always present the conclusions to which they themselves arrived in 2007. Because they know, they have the evidence of what happened - they don't need to investigate anything. All this is now a mere 'show off'."

Retired murder DCI Colin Sutton: "I would also like to make the point that Operation Grange was so restricted from the start as to be destined to fail."

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley made public on national TV that Operation Grange is a complete fraud.

Ex-DCI Andy Redwood had a "revelation moment" on BBC's Crimewatch on 14th October 2013 when he announced that Operation Grange had eliminated the Tanner sighting - which opened up the 'window of opportunity', in accordance with their remit, to allow the fake abduction to happen.

Despite "irrelevant behaviour" from blood and cadaver dogs in the McCann's apartment, on Kate McCann's clothes, and in the car they hired three weeks after Maddie disappeared, Ex-Chief Inspector, Ian Horrocks, said: "The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter is frankly preposterous."

Gerry McCann called for example to be made of 'trolls'. SKY News reporter Martin Brunt doorstepped Brenda Leyland on 2 October 2014. She was then found dead in a Leicester hotel room. Brenda paid the price. She paid with her life.

Ex-Deputy Chief Constable, Jim Gamble QPM, congratulated SKY reporter, Martin Brunt, on twitter for doorstepping Brenda Leyland on behalf of Gerry McCann.
