SCOTLAND YARD should be brought in to take ­control of the investigation to discover what ­happened to Madeleine McCann.

Kate and Gerry McCann want the Yard’s ­renowned kidnap team to assess an avalanche of new information after last week’s emotional internet appeal, which ­generated five million hits from around the world.

Portuguese ­police, the Sunday Express can reveal, have failed to set up a new phone line for callers to ring with information.

Last night there was fury over the dismissive response. Interpol and Europol are among 163 ­forces worldwide that have committed to help with the appeal.

They are on a most perilous rocky path, and have no lantern or beacon to facilitate their passage. Would you sacrifice yourself in this way, knowing there are no rewards at the end of all this?

This person obviously has a great commitment towards the Tapas 9, and one would ask that you acknowledge this and send your prayers or thoughts towards them, that they may become enlightened and free from the darkness.

One would ask all our readers and posters that you support your NHS at this time, and ask yourselves, do you really need your doctor's appointments? Do you really need all those prescribed drugs that you ask your doctor for? Because with imminent cuts coming into the NHS, there are people who really, really need those doctors appointments, and who really, really do need to take advantage of your GP's prescribing budget.

tonyismental is living proof of this, and there are at least half a dozen more Tapas 9 fans in need of treatment. They could live in your parish or your doctor's catchment area, so please think twice before eating up your GP's time and budget. Because there are people out there who really need his or her help.

Since they did not see fit to suspend them when they were officially declared as prime suspects in the disappearance of their own daughter and occultation of a dead body, one would hold out very little hope of the GMC doing anything about this.

I have found this Australian case, where a hospital consultant who viewed thousands of child porn images was suspended, later reinstated, but only on condition that he never saw patients under 18:

A DOCTOR caught with a stash of 5,000 child porn pictures has been working at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Stuart Ruthven worked in the hospital last month as part of a training programme. In 2003, the then Royal Navy surgeon was convicted of making indecent photographs of children.

He was sentenced to an 18-month community rehabilitation order, and made to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

A review panel of the General Medical Council (GMC) ruled that Dr Ruthven could continue to practise, with the condition he didn’t treat under-16s.

But, in December, 2008, that condition was revoked, meaning he can now work with children, and in entering the hospital he was breaking no laws, court orders or GMC rulings. Dr Ruthven, who is in his early 30s, is retraining as a pathologist, and worked in the children’s hospital as part of his study programme.

Children’s charity Kidscape say they have grave concerns about the medic’s freedom to practise. Director Claude Knights said: “The possession of indecent images of children represents a vile crime, which is even more despicable when the perpetrator is a doctor.

“The downloading of indecent images of children is never a victimless crime, and encourages this deplorable trade. Some people would question whether this doctor's sentence reflects fully the horror of his crimes.”

Dr Ruthven is understood to be employed by the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust, and is undertaking his training under the Mersey Deanery, and undertakes work placements in different hospitals.

The Deanery confirmed he worked at the children’s hospital between June 14 and 25. Alder Hey confirmed the doctor had worked in the hospital, but added he never actually treated patients.

Jayne Shaw, director of human resources and organisational development at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that Dr Stuart Ruthven is a doctor in training and has never been employed by the trust. He did take a very short-term placement at the hospital as a requirement of his training.

“Dr Ruthven was fully supervised throughout this placement, during which time he did not have any direct contact with patients.”

Dr Ruthven, who also worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2009, was caught during a national crackdown on internet child porn following a tip-off from the FBI.

Speaking at a GMC hearing in 2006, Dr Ruthven, who downloaded the images at his parents’ house in Flixton, Trafford, said in 2002, during a tour of duty on a submarine, he was driven “stir-crazy” by the conditions.

He added: “In 2003, I was in a situation where myself and many of my friends were frequenting strip bars. Pornography was fairly widespread and a common occurrence, and I had seen a lot. I was bored and looking to see what was out there and I was de-sensitised. I didn't go out specifically looking for child pornography.”

A spokesman for the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust said: “We currently act as lead employer for a large number of doctors across Merseyside who don’t necessarily work in our hospitals. Dr Ruthven, like other trainees, will work in placements at a range of NHS Trusts in Merseyside.”

Dr Ruthven was today unavailable for comment.

Really quite despicable of them. Only when these people gain first hand knowledge of this and other heart-rendingly horrible diseases and its affects on loved ones, will they finally understand how harrowing it is for yourself and others to read their disgraceful rabid rantings. When one says Amen to this, one is making absolutely no apology as to how this may be read and interpreted by others. Amen.

Well said JM. I cared for a very dear relative stricken by this disease. It was a harrowing experience for us both. To watch a wonderful person reduced to a shell of themselves is something that will stay with me forever. Shame on anyone using this disease as a throwaway line when discussing those of a different opinion to themselves.

The comments made by tonyismental just highlights to us all the inmaturity, ignorance and sheer nastiness of this person imo. It also shows to all those reading the forum (which I believe includes police officers and journalists) the kind of people who align themselves to the Mccanns. Therefore i would say far from being clever which the poster seems to think he is, he (or she) has actually shot themselves in the foot.

It also shows the desperation of the Mccann followers if all they can come up with is insults and cannot even make a reasoned argument. This person has shown themselves up well and truly.

One is always mindful that any such debilitating diseases could beset any one of us at any time. Lives change in an instant, as some of us have already discovered. They must surely be aware that Kate McCann's father is ill himself! This is why one cannot fathom their raison d'etre at all. Their 'support' make the Tapas 9 look even more evil than they are already portrayed, and the McCanns and their lawyers have not not even had the decency to ask this filth to dilute their bile. How sick and evil does this make the Tapas 9 look, when they know that this behaviour is being conducted on their behalf?

Psychiatrist used paedophile site

A psychiatrist treating victims of child abuse paid for 90 hours' viewing of a paedophile website called "sweet early age", the General Medical Council was told yesterday.

The doctor, who accessed a site that showed images of naked children, was caught in a sweep by British police after the smashing of a worldwide child pornography ring based in America.

Julian Morrell, 41, was sacked as a consultant in child and adolescent psychiatry in Berkshire after his arrest last year. He did not appear before the hearing at the GMC in London yesterday saying he felt "unable" to attend after an experience that had caused the "world to crash in" on him.

Mr Morrell, a married father of two from Oxford, claimed he had accessed the site for research to help him during difficult therapy sessions with an adult victim of child abuse who had physically attacked her own daughter.

But he admitted he had taken no notes from the viewing or told any of his superiors that he was going to look at the site for research. He was arrested by Thames Valley Police, but never charged.

Mr Morrell's patients and their families were informed of the pending GMC hearing only last Friday, 15 months after his suspension. Child protection experts said yesterday they were amazed that parents were kept in the dark for so long.

Kidscape,the child welfare charity, said: "This really flies in the face of what you should do in these situations."

Mr Morrell has admitted accessing the sites in 1999, while a senior registrar at the Park Hospital for Children, Oxford, and accepts that his actions amounted to serious professional misconduct.

Ian Stern, for the GMC, said Mr Morrell was caught in Operation Ore, an investigation by British police after the discovery in America.

Philippa Stringer, chief executive of Berkshire NHS Trust, said all 176 of Mr Morrell's past and present patients had been informed of the GMC hearing. The trust had no reason to believe that he had put any child patients at risk.

SEX offender Andrew Morris will find out is he is to be struck off the medical register for good in a hearing before the General Medical Council.

The former anaesthetist, 48, was caught in 2002 as part of a police crackdown on internet child porn.

Close to 180 photos of young girls were found at his Exmouth home and he was later sacked from the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

Morris has been unable to find work since March 2003 despite working with a medical mentor, the GMC heard yesterday.

His case is now back before his governing body who will have to decide whether to continue restricting his licence or to strike him off the medical register.

But the doctor has not turned up to his central London hearing to explain himself and has provided no evidence of any effort to find work.

Richard Tyson for the GMC said: “Dr Morris has not attended so he can be asked about things so you can assess matters as far as his insight.

“I certainly have not been presented with any testimonials.

“We would submit that there is not proper evidence that he has in fact reconsidered his career or in fact done anything at all since the last hearing.”

Morris was arrested after he had accessed websites containing child porn.

It was also discovered that he kept photos of naked girls on a computer disk.

In March 2003, Morris pleaded guilty to inciting distribution of child pornography by paying for images from Landslide Productions.

He also confessed to eight sample charges of possessing indecent images of children.

He was ordered to undergo a three-year community rehabilitation order and sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

In December 2003, Morris was suspended for eight months by the GMC.

In September 2004, his case was reviewed and conditions were imposed on his licence to allow him to return to work.

But he was banned from having any contact with patients and was ordered to complete his sex offenders’ rehabilitation programme.

Morris returned in front of a panel again in February 2008 to ease the restrictions on his licence to require him to work under supervision.

“He was seeking to return to anaesthetics but his previous hospital did not feel able to support an attachment there,” said Mr Tyson.

“He was also looking at alternative careers.

“It does not appear that he is very much further advanced in that field now.

“He indicates that he is now building an alternative career in medical writing and journalism, but we know nothing more about that.”

Conditions on his licence in February 2008 required Morris to provide a personal development plan with details of training and learning.

He was also to provide experience of clinical placements. But he has not done so, the GMC was told.

Morris, a married father-of-one, now living in Edinburgh, has also been referred to the Independent Safeguarding Authority, ISA, which could ban him from working with children or vulnerable adults.

The GMC will now decide whether the doctor’s fitness to practise is still impaired and what sanction, if any, to impose.

GMC sees rise in doctors charged with accessing child pornography websites

The UK doctors' regulatory body, the General Medical Council, has been forced to amend its sanctions guidance, in the light of the rapid rise in referrals of doctors who have been charged with accessing child pornography.
Between 1980 and 2002, just one case involving child pornography was referred to the GMC. But in 2003, the council's Professional Conduct Committee heard eight cases, resulting in six suspensions and two doctors being struck off the register.
So far this year, two doctors have been struck off and two suspended.

One has only removed the name from this extract to avoid distracting readers from the content, which is more or less showing how paedophile doctors are treated with ''tweezers''. (To quote a word used by Amaral)

Dr X satisfied the Panel that he has a sophisticated insight into what brought about his criminal behaviour, its seriousness, its ramifications for child victims and the damage that he has done to the standing of his profession by his conduct. The view of the experts who appeared to assist the Panel is that by the measures which he has set in place under professional guidance, he has made substantial progress in his self-initiated rehabilitation. They have asserted without reservation that there is adequate protection for the public against Dr X relapsing and re-offending. Thus far the measures put in place have been successful and Dr X has been responsive to all recommendations made to him by mental health professionals. He understands that any further inappropriate behaviour on his part would be overwhelmingly likely to lead to his medical registration being cancelled.

Even this man's wife wished for him to be struck off.

A family doctor described as a 'deviant' for downloading child-sex stories has escaped being struck off.

Dr Nicholas Spicer, 55, read the paedophile fantasies on his home computer between 2003 and 2007 while working with children as a GP.

He was hauled before a General Medical Council disciplinary hearing, where he was described as 'a sexual deviant with an interest in children'.

He was removed from NHS Herefordshire's list of GPs but is free to return to work in another area of the country from as early as July.

Spicer, who worked at the Nunwell surgery in Bromyard, Herefordshire, has also evaded criminal charges because the stories are legally available on the internet.

Child safety groups and even Spicer's wife yesterday condemned the GMC's decision not to strike him off the medical register.

Spicer's disgusted wife Patricia has started divorce proceedings.

She said: 'People and professionals that I have spoken to are mystified about the decision.

'The GMC's mission statement is "protecting doctors, protecting people", but they are not living up to it.'

Spicer is unrepentant and claims his behaviour was down to a medical condition.

He said: 'I have never been accused of being a paedophile, but it is obvious that people might wonder.

'I was examined by seven experts in the field of child-sex offences and six out of seven concluded that I'm not a paedophile.

'They concluded that I was suffering from a mild, well-capsulated medical condition, exacerbated by domestic problems.'

Michael May, spokesman for sexual abuse charity Survivors UK, said: 'I'm appalled by the actions of the GP and the response of the GMC.

'I find it extremely concerning that an educated professional, with intimate access to the most vulnerable members of our community, has been able to exploit a shameful loophole in the law.'

At the hearing, Jason Macadam, solicitor for the GMC, branded Spicer 'a sexual deviant' and said the material was 'abhorrent and repugnant'.

Somebody such as Michael May should come along and tell us how he feels concerning McCann saying that he was acting well within the bounds of good parenting, after having trotted off out for the evening with his wife and their friends. (Albeit, the door was left open in case of a fire, it is most unreasonable to leave a three years old child to look after two much younger siblings.)

One is terribly concerned that we have still to find out who told McCann this. One would certainly hope they have been sacked from whichever post they held, or were more likely leaning on. Surely somebody would have had to be very drunk or coerced into agreeing that leaving these children all alone was reasonable? One of the Tapas' children was only a matter of months old and allegedly terribly ill and regularly leaving its nappy in a rather terrible state.

How old was her babysitter? Not very much older than Madeleine. How would such a tiny child cope with a very sick baby?
