HOUSTON - The investigation into the disappearance of a 12-year-old boy is intensifying. Both of his parents were taken in for questioning on Tuesday and their car was towed by police.
A 1990's model tan colored Mercedes Benz was towed away by the Houston Police Department just after noon Tuesday. It was towed from the home where Jonathan Foster lives with his mother and step father.
The young boy disappeared Christmas Eve from his mother's north Houston apartment.
The missing boy's parents were also driven away by HPD detectives in separate units just after the Mercedes was towed.
There was no indication the parents were taken into custody.
At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, police said a child's burned body found in northeast Harris County could not be confirmed to be the child because it was too badly burned.
When asked why it took three days for an Amber Alert to be issued in the case, police said it was because they didn't feel they were getting the full story behind the child's disappearance.
Meanwhile, volunteers from Texas Equusearch appear to be in standby mode until they hear word from detectives on the case.
Foster weighs about 100 pounds, red hair, has an overbite, and was last seen wearing a tan colored shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call Houston Police Homicide at 713-308-3600.

Have the McCanns sent their best wishes to the parents, explaining that there is no need to answer police questions, or for the mother and step-father to reconstruct any events around their last known hours with this child?

Do not be so silly, Judge; the McCann don't work with amateurs. They haven't even started a fund yet, for goodness' sake.

Drat and bother! This family definitely needs a Clarence around their home. Do they not realise the value of having a PR chappie in the house? A wristband factory should already be working around the clock producing some irritating and ugly bracelets, to be worn as badges of solidarity with the parents. Do they have a grotesque fiery sister available, who can hiss at the breakfast television cameras, whilst telling the world all sorts of things they will come to regret at some future date? Has the Pope got a window of opportunity to meet the parents? Do they have people throwing hundreds of thousands of pounds at them for their legal fees? These are the things that they need to be putting on the boil.

A woman is expected to be charged Wednesday in connection with the disappearance of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster, police sources said.

The woman, who is not a relative of the boy, was taken into custody Wednesday morning, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

Police sources said she was not being cooperative with the investigation, but detectives have collected a considerable amount of evidence linking her to the boy's disappearance.

Investigators could be seen removing evidence from the suspect's home after she was taken into custody Wednesday.

Foster was last seen by his stepfather around 1:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Foster's mother reported him missing around 9:30 that night.

Police didn't issue an Amber Alert for Foster until Monday, citing conflicting stories from the boy's parents.

"Until we were able to narrow down and confirm that an abduction had taken place, we couldn't issue [an Amber Alert]," said Kese Smith, an HPD spokesman.

According to Smith, police must follow certain criteria - or there's a danger that too many Amber Alerts may be issued and the public might ignore them.

The criteria include the following: the missing child must be 17 years old or younger. Investigators must believe the child has been abducted and that he or she is in "immediate danger." They must also conduct a thorough investigation to eliminate other possible reasons for the disappearance. Finally, they must have a "sufficient description" of the child, the suspect, or the vehicle used in the abduction.

Investigators questioned Foster's mother, stepfather and babysitter on Tuesday, but no arrests were made.

Texas EquuSearch was called in to help find Foster, and volunteers were focusing Tuesday on a wooded area near some railroad tracks at T.C. Jester and 43rd Street.

Meanwhile, the burned body of an unidentified child was found in a ditch in north Houston Tuesday, fueling speculation that it might be Foster.

Police would not confirm if the cases were related.

The burned body of a child discovered Tuesday in a Houston, Texas ditch has been identified as that of missing 12-year-old Jonathan Foster. Mona Yvette Nelson, 44, has been charged with capital murder in the case.

Jonathan was reported missing on Christmas Eve after his mother, Angela Davis, received a strange phone call at work. The call included a gruff sounding woman getting on the line, telling her workplace the call was an emergency. When Angela rushed home she found both Jonathan and the cordless phone gone.

The boy’s mother initially told police he was with a babysitter when he vanished, however, she later admitted Jonathan was home alone.

KIAH reports that Nelson is a family acquaintance from the North Forest area.

According to ABC 13, a source has stated that Nelson admitted being with Jonathan, but did not admit to killing him.

Surveillance video from an office building near the ditch where Jonathan’s burned body was found captured images of Nelson’s truck. The body was identified as Jonathan late Wednesday using dental records.

According to KIAH, Nelson has a criminal record dating back to 1984, including past charges for aggravated robbery, theft, terroristic threat, possession of marijuana, and criminal mischief.

If you have any information about Jonathan's case, please contact the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.

OMG, what a waste of preciouslife.
Poor boy, left alone, neglected by his parents then found burned to death by family acquaintance psychopath Nelson.

So tragic..poor little thing ....heart must have given out from the shock.

Nelson deserves to the hang and the boy parents deserve to be punished by jail for their negligence.

Even jailing his parents is not justice enough for the boy. His sufferings wer so atrocious so even if the parents were languishing in jail, there's no comparison.
