It's been on my mind for a long time to initiate a thread, partly serious partly satirical, to highlight the extraordinary function of the British press.

Just by headlines and a brief summary, that's all that's needed to make the point.

Halfheartedly watching GB News over the past week has urged me to fulfill that mindfulness - what better place to start but this juicy little gem..

Smoking age of sale should rise by year each year

The age at which people can buy tobacco and cigarettes in England should be raised year by year so that eventually no-one can buy them, a review says.

The call has been made in an independent report by ex-charity boss Javed Khan asked for by ministers.

Under the plan the age of sale would rise from 18 by one year every year so the children of today will never be allowed to buy tobacco.

What friggin' help will that be.

Remember prohibition anyone? Take away the choice and folk become more determined - black market springs to mind

Give it a couple of years and suppliers will be dealing on the streets.

The UK has gone stark raving bonkers.

It certainly bluddy has.

I find it more and more depressing living here.

Just like the new mortgage scheme for benefit claimants where a working family who can't afford to buy their own home and is struggling to feed their family, can now help someone on benefits to buy theirs.

Then what happens if their boiler breaks down or some other expensive repair needs doing? Will Boris the Comeback Kid give them a Grant?

Time to get the Tories out - I don't even care if it means the Lefties overturn Brexit.

Tribesmen in remote Africa have been locked in a unique endurance event - to get fat, not have sex and only drink fresh milk and blood from cows.

The so-called Kael festival takes place annually in the remote area of Omo Valley, southern Ethiopa, to celebrate the Bodi tribe's new year.

The women of the Bodi tribe are attracted by the fat men and the festival is considered a good opportunity for them to show their charms.

Becoming a fat man is the dream of every Bodi kid.
