Tribute to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - Page 2 Empty Re: Tribute to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

A monarchy is a stabilizing influence - like it or not.

If people believe in their nations constitution, they will strive to preserve it. They will fight to defend it, just like they did in world wars one and two.

Without that belief in the past present and future, what is left? A floundering destabilized rabble of discontent.

Seriously, from a personal perspective, what harm does the Royal family do to you? Do they affect you personally, your everyday life, your financial standing, your status in society, your future aspirations? I doubt it very much.

Whereas a life without a stabilizing influence can have severe consequences.

You don't have to like a particular member of the Royal family, or even the family as a whole but spare a thought for their stoic influence on the United Kingdom constitution and all it represents at home and abroad. They do no harm - only good.

No but thankfully I don't think he has aspirations in that direction. Even if he did, chances of being elected as head of government are very slim.

Is anyone truly capable of governance? I don't think so ....

All this aside, HRH the Duke of Edinburgh died at the ripe old age of 99 years, following a life of service and dedication to Queen and country.

Show some respect!

Are there serfing tee shirts available?

Today at midday there is a gun salute to commemorate the life of Prince Philip and the grief of his wife and family.

Some people may take issue with the so-called privileged lives of the Royal Family. Personally I would not like to walk a mile in their shoes.

Some of the comments on the online articles are absolutely disgusting.

I wonder if people would be so vile if they had to use their real names to post?

It's totally unnecessary - it's disgusting.

I ask - how they would feel if someone said such things in the event of the death of their father or brother or son or grandfather or uncle?

RIP Prince Philip HRH Duke of Edinburgh singlerose sad

Tribute to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - Page 2 210217-prince-philip-ew-337p_bbf49747ecb8d5fb449c82ca0dbb162e.fit-760w

I feel terribly sad for the Queen at this time; they were married for 73 years - 73 years! she must be devastated, no matter how inevitable his death was.  I also feel sad that he didn't make it to his 100th birthday.

Tribute to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - Page 2 Special-relationship-card

Prince Philip wasn't afraid to speak his mind but he never did so with malice (in fact a lot of his "gaffes", as the media like to call them, were just him putting members of the public at ease). His death marks the end of an era, the end of a generation of people who were far, far above today's generation. And that is a tragedy.

I like the Royal Family, (apart from Harry and Megan) and the United Kingdom would be a much worse place without them.

I guess the Queen must be thinking about her own mortality even more now and the terrible way harry has damaged her legacy after decades of dedicated service.

Although Prince Philip's death was expected, I doubt the surgeons would have put his frail body through heart surgery if they hadn't analysed the risk and believed he had more time, not just a couple of weeks.

I believe the stress of what Harry and his Kling-on did in the Oprah interview on the global stage while Prince Philip was gravely ill in hospital, and their conduct over Megxit, aided his imminent demise.

The surgeons don't have blood on their hands, but Prince Harry and his other half do.

Ground control to Major John..

Tribute to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - Page 2 Scre1454

It will take more than a funeral to mend rifts in the Royal family, even if it is Harry's grandfather! He didn't care then, knowing his grandfather's age and deteriorating health, it didn't stop him and his appendage whinging before the entire world, seated comfortably on the studio sofa of the Oprah Winfrey 'have your say' show.

Then he had the audacity to say he didn't do it to hurt his grandfather.

He showed no consideration for his grandmother, HRH Queen Elizabeth II nor his privileged birthright - he's a spoiled brat and the growth that's attached itself, the appendage, is a self serving opportunistic social climber.

To hell with them both devi1 !

For the moment allow the Royal Family to do their impossible duty by turning up in public with a stoic and well rehearsed stance.

All I know is when the Queen dies I will weep.

There will probably be another intruder on Friday - just to add a guilt trip on top of the grief at the funeral...and to make it known that she's not safe even when Harry is not in residence.

Text message to Haz: listen to the reading of the Will, tell Charles you want proper tax-payer funded security and get on the next private jet out of there.

Her Majesty is a traditionalist, scandals come and they go, tragedies come and they go but above all else the united Royal constitution is paramount to the very fibre of the United Kingdom.

If past disruptions are allowed to destabilize the monarchy then the Royal household is no more. No Royal household, no United Kingdom.

It's steeped in history, part of our being past present and future. Throw that out and there's nothing left - Her Majesty realizes that simple fact, why can't the people see it?
