I'm somewhat confused here - is this a good thing or a bad thing, this statement from Giuliani?

At first I thought "uh-oh this doesn't seem good" but then I'm wondering, are they trying to say that Powell isn't on Trump's team in other words she is impartial?  Is that it?

Yes, she's independent and in another statement she said she's going after all fraud, no matter if it's been committed by Republicans or Democrats.

It's good news. She and Rudy are going to 'drain the swamp'. She said the evidence they're going to submit to the Supreme Court will be "BIBLICAL".

Rudy's statement was correct: she's independent. It is the media, as usual, adding bits on to say the Trump Campaign is distancing themselves from her after her outrageous allegations.  NOT TRUE!!

US President-elect Joe Biden has unveiled officials for six important posts, as he prepares to take office.

"America is back", he said, and "ready to lead the world, not retreat from it".

If confirmed, Avril Haines will be the first female director of national intelligence and Alejandro Mayorkas the first Latino homeland security boss.

Donald Trump has agreed transition moves must start and Mr Biden will now get a top secret intelligence brief.

However, the sitting president still refuses to admit defeat, repeating unsubstantiated claims that the 3 November vote was "rigged".

As well as getting the Presidential Daily Brief- an update on international threats and developments - Mr Biden can now access key government officials and millions of dollars in funds as he prepares to take over on 20 January.

On Tuesday, Governor Tom Wolf said he had certified Mr Biden's victory in Pennsylvania, a key swing state. Another, Michigan, certified the same outcome on Monday.
What did Biden say?

Speaking in Wilmington, Delaware, the president-elect highlighted the need to rebuild alliances, as well as tackling coronavirus and climate change.

World leaders, he suggested, were "looking forward to the United States reasserting its historic role as a global leader over the Pacific, as well as the Atlantic, all across the world".

His appointments suggest a move away from the "America First" narrative of President Trump.

He told reporters he had discussed the Irish border with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other leaders.

Mr Biden, who has Irish heritage, said he was against a guarded border, and said it must be kept open: "The idea of having the border north and south once again being closed, it's just not right."

In an interview with NBC News, Mr Biden emphasised that outreach from the White House had been "sincere" and not "begrudging".

He said there were plans for him to meet the Covid task force in the White House regarding vaccine distribution and access.

"We're gonna not be so far behind the curve as we thought we might be," he said.

So, a department office is established, funded by the UK treasury - the public purse, to independently forecast and analyse public finances - the public purse.

 If in doubt (or not as the case may be), set-up a new department/office.  Do they have a special office for stockage and issue of loo-rolls I wonder - I bet they do, like all the others - a stationery cupboard.

The majority of public sector workers are to be given a pay rise, the Chancellor has announced, despite the private sector bearing the bulk of economic pain from the Covid pandemic.

Rishi Sunak confirmed in the Commons that there would be a general "pause" in pay increases for workers in the public sector next year.

However, he exempted up to 1.4 million doctors, nurses and other NHS workers as well as public sector staff earning less than £24,000, who will be entitled to rises of at least £250. That will cover an estimated 2.1 million low-paid public sector workers –  about 38 per cent of the staff in state services.

With the NHS accounting for a quarter of the public sector workforce, it means more than half will be entitled to a pay rise next year despite the outcry over the "pay freeze".

It also comes despite evidence that Mr Sunak cited to justify the "pause" in pay which showed that the private sector had been hardest hit by the economic fallout from coronavirus.

The Chancellor said unemployment and redundancies were rising in the private sector and many were seeing significant wage cuts, adding: "In the six months to September, private sector wages fell by nearly one per cent compared to the previous year, while over the same period public sector pay rose by 3.9 per cent."

For crying out loud stop talking statistical science, it's no more convincing than 'the virus' statistics.

I quite understand the desperate need to fool the public but you are talking to the public so plain English would be an advantage.  Or would that only expose your devious machinations?

Allow me in plain speak.  The hoax virus has destroyed small and medium businesses across the globe but you, Mr Chancellor, are rewarding the public secteur for doing the job of work they are paid to do anyway - their jobs are not threatened, they are secure for life, pensions 'n all, whereas independent business is to become a thing of the past, unless their capital exceeds £millions.

Isn't this exactly how the socialist movement flourished after WW2?  Create and look after the utopic public enterprise and services to the detriment of the private secteur?

Since stepping over the Whitehouse threshold, Biden's been poking his snout in the matter of north/south Ireland border control - presumably he thinks he has a say due to his Irish origins.

No disrespect to the US of A but what goes on over here is not Biden's business. Shouldn't America be his priority?
