Migrants wearing facemasks arrive in Dover after crossing Channel by dinghy - and are tested for coronavirus by Border Force officers

Migrants wearing facemasks were pictured arriving at Dover after crossing the English Channel in a large rubber dingy today.

Border Force officials apparently tested the migrants for possible cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) upon arrival into the country.

It is understood a number of migrants were detained by Border Force and taken into the Port of Dover before being handed over to Immigration Officers.

It is thought that the group crossed the Channel by dinghy before being caught by Border Force once they arrived in the UK.

A large dinghy was later discovered off the coast of Dungeness, Kent, containing personal belongings belonging to the migrants.

The Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) was brought ashore by the crew of the Dungeness lifeboat at lunchtime today.

The blue and white boat was left on the beach nearby.

A black Nike trainer, a grey jacket, towels, bottles of water and pieces of bread were left scattered along the inside of the inflatable vessel.

Elsewhere, sixteen migrants have been rescued after setting off from France and trying to cross the English Channel to the UK.

It comes despite the escalating coronavirus crisis in Britain, where cases are increasing every day.

Migrant aid charity Care4Calais warned this week that 3,000 migrants living in desperate conditions in northern France are at high risk from Covid-19.

Send them straight back to France after fingerprints, ear prints, DNA swabs and retinal scans regardless of age or gender or sexuality or religion or any other excuse should we be dumb enough to pick them up and, if that is not an option, take them to the widest part of the channel and tell them to swim back to France on pain of being immediately shot. It seems every European country has shut its borders (funny how they abandon the schengen agreement when they are at risk)  yet it is open borders when it comes to the channel.
They should block every illegal immigrant from entry into Europe and that also means not bringing them in when rescued in boats off the coast of Libya. Send them all straight back no ifs no buts, execute  the smugglers immediately and burn their boats. make it clear  that no one will be allowed entry regardless. They will be immediately returned back to Libya no ifs no buts.
America should do the same, ban all entry from Mexico, close the borders and anyone entering should be sent right back regardless of age or gender. It is illegals that invariably carry all the interesting diseases and then transmit them on  which is why there is a high rate of measles and TB in the UK where it was previously almost wiped out. Vaccinations in eastern European countries and 3rd world countries is poor to non existent and diet doesn't help as we have seen in China where eating animals that normally would not be considered edible has reared its ugly head. Food hygiene is poor and where the heck did they manage to find koalas in China? Even now wet markets are still in operation so lessons have not been learned. I also fail to understand why we are bringing back our nationals from countries where corona virus is spreading. Sad to say bringing them back could well mean bringing back an infected person who is asymptomatic and infection is only discovered days after their return. The best and safest thing to do is leave them where they are until there is a vaccination or the disease has run its cause in their country of stay.

Changing the subject slightly, but still on Politics, and the danger that Labour / Socialism /Momentum / Communism poses

Private Eye - on line for anyone who wants. at. https://www.private-eye.co.uk/hp-sauce

Labour’s Red Flags
Candidate selection, Issue 1518

The Political Spectrum: Have Your Say - Page 38 Jas-athwal
Jas Athwal is the leader of Redbridge Council, but was suspended by the Labour Party just before the parliamentary candidate selection vote last year.
It’s a good thing that Sir Keir Starmer is an eminent lawyer because Jeremy Corbyn is bequeathing his likely successor a Labour party that will be bombarded with lawsuits.
The allegedly “Stalinist” tactics Corbyn’s supporters used to ensure that their comrades received safe Labour seats could yet cost the party dear.
In the autumn of 2019, to take the latest case, Jas Athwal, the leader of Redbridge Council, seemed set to become Labour's candidate for the safe London seat of Ilford South. True Sam Tarry, a Corbyn supporter was backed by Momentum. But Athwal was the favourite, until Labour announced it had received “extremely serious allegations" and suspended him.
Local Labour members were outraged. Wes Streeting, the Labour MP for Ilford North, said "suspension of the local frontrunner just 15 hours before the vote is politically motivated and biased in order to stitch up the selection". Labour insisted it was behaving properly, and perhaps unsurprisingly Sam Tarry decided that suspending his rival and guaranteeing his victory was “absolutely the right thing to do”
Career left in ruins
Athwal’s reputation had been trashed and career left in ruins. Labour revealed he had been referred to its “Sexual Harassment Panel” as if he were an East London Harvey Weinstein. And then nothing until Athwal and his lawyers at Mishcon de Reya began to dig.
Labour has not named the complainant or said anything about the case. But Athwal had no difficulty identifying him as former councillor Aziz Chowdhury. In 2014 Chowdhury accused Athwal of corruption, then admitted the charge was false, and later denied any knowledge of making the accusation. When Chowdhury failed a selection interview for councillors in 2017 he threatened to sue Labour unless it changed its mind. Alternatively he would accept a £20,000 payment. In 2018 he accused Roy Emmett ,a Redbridge councillor, of bullying him, an allegation that was again dismissed.
In short Mishcon alleged Labour had believed a “known serial, vexatious accuser, who has an axe to grind against our client”. To make matters worse, Mischon alleged three members of the panel that suspended Athwal, were “friends or supporters of Sam Tarry”. One was Momentum’s Jon Lansman, who was also involved in bringing down Sally Gimson, the Labour candidate is Bassetlaw (see Eyes passim) to clear the way for a Unite-backed nominee.
Well worth investigating
If it truly believed Athwal were a sex pest, why hadn’t Labour reported him to the police or Redbridge Council? Why, indeed had Labour not moved speedily to decide if the complaints were in fact true. Labour said that it was “taking steps to progress the case” and claimed that Lansman would not have known he was doing Tarry a favour because the case had been ‘anonymised” It’s main concern, inevitably, was to warn Athwal not to tell the press that the machinations in Ilford were well worth investigating. “The disclosure of confidential information relating to the Party is in itself conduct considered prejudicial to the Party contrary to Rule 2.1.8 of the Rulebook,” it intoned in true Stalinist style.
Despite it being more than five months since he was suspended, nothing has been settled. It’s almost as if Labour was looking for an excuse to remove a politician who wasn't in the leader's faction, and now doesn’t want to talk about it. Athwal is now threatening to go to court. If he does, he will join the former Labour staffers who alleged the party libelled them when they blew the whistle on anti-Semitism, and Panorama's John Ware who claims Labour libelled him too.
Keir Starmer won the Legal Aid Barrister of the Year award in 2008. Labour is about to find out whether he deserved it.

Subject: My five-point plan for bolder and faster action to help business survive coronavirus

Dear Supporter,

I do hope you and your family are holding up in these very difficult times for our country. The Chancellor has made a start but now much more is needed, much faster, to save jobs and the economy. Many of his measures are too slow or ineffective whether it be the bank loans or the measures to help the self employed. Below and attached is the article I had published earlier this week online for the Daily Telegraph. You can also read it on my website by clicking here.

My five-point plan for bolder and faster action to help business survive coronavirus

Imagine your worst nightmare, then the horror as you realize that it’s real. The economy is behaving like a critically ill Covid 19 victim. Cash is running out of both businesses and the overall economy in a dramatic way; in the same way that a severely ill Coronavirus patient struggles for air. This could be similar to the Great Depression of the early 1930s when stock markets collapsed some 80 per cent.
The Chancellor last week announced numerous extraordinary measures which are unprecedented. They are well intentioned and he deserves real credit for thinking big. But much more is needed, fast.  They will turn out to be just the amuse-bouche before the starter you might enjoy in one of the thousands of restaurants which are now closed and face oblivion.
The business support package of over £300 billion sounds good, but will do nothing for most firms as it is only for the small number of large investment grade firms.
I rang my business bank and was told about the criteria for the separate Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme of up to £5 million. These are so restrictive that very few businesses will take advantage of them. Most directors will simply not sign personal guarantees for these loans. The criteria must be eased.
“Whatever it takes” were Rishi Sunak’s words. Well, it will take a lot more, urgently. I have five point plan to save the UK economy. Think of it as a five course meal.
The first course is that as well as VAT, the Chancellor must defer all National Insurance, payroll tax and Corporation Tax payments for the next 6 months, by all companies who want to, for 9 months. This will give real cash breathing space for companies large and small. The price of this will be more deferral than cost.
The second course is to cancel all business rates for all firms for 12 months, at a cost of some £30 bn. His current plans for business rates are just way too timid.
The third course is to lend any SME or self employed person up to £50,000 for 24 months, at 2% interest. This can be done via overdrafts at the existing banks, this can be implemented in a few weeks. If 6 million SMEs and self employed take it up, the loan Value is £300 billion, similar in size to the Chancellor’s loan scheme for big businesses. Crucially this will be much more effective at the ground level.
The fourth course is the big, main delicacy. A £1,000 payment in each of the next 2 months, in April and May, for every adult above the age of 18. It would cost some £80 billion. It could be done quickly via payroll and HMRC, or via the electoral roll. Critics will bleat about better targeting and helping the wealthier, but there just is not time. Get it done, to adapt a favorite Boris phrase.
The last course of this meal could end up making the Government enough money over time to pay for all the support measures. In the Second World War the stock market was closed except for gilt markets. It would be better to keep it open, but the Government buy up to £400 billion worth of shares and corporate bonds. This could be some 20-25 per cent of the market. There is precedent for this. Hong Kong’s Government made billions after it bought 7.3 per cent of the stock market there in the mini crash of August 1998. Over 5-10 years, as the economy recovers, so UK share prices would soar.
All these measures can be funded by the gilt market, with the Bank of England acting as buyer of last resort when needed. Conservative, free marketeers would hate it, but it’s the best way to protect the people, businesses and reduce the cost. It’s called survival. The alternatives, be they food riots, and many millions being unemployed are far, far worse.

They just don't get it!

New Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer:

What else has Sir Keir promised as leader?

There were more pledges made in the campaign from Labour's new leader.
Here are the final five:

  • Migrant rights: Giving full voting rights for EU nationals, backing free movement in the EU, a new immigration system “based on compassion and dignity”, an end to indefinite detention and calls for the closure of centres such as Yarl’s Wood

    + other nonsense.

The closure of Yarl's Wood and the end to indefinite detention could be solved at a stroke, by later this afternoon,  by sticking them all on ferries and planes and sending them to their countries of origin.
It is the lawyers who stop this process who force their clients into the limbo.

The British government has been sorely tested since 31st January 2020, the date we waved goodbye to the European Union - well, sort of.

The coronavirus has been the first harsh test they've faced alone, without the EU shoulder for support.

I fear they're making a right pigs ear of it.

Boris Johnson is hiding behind the black door of No.10, said to be still infected with the coronavirus. Can't help but wonder if it's a melodramatic gesture rather than a genuine malady - of course he could just be suffering with a common cold.

A well timed game of pass the buck has commenced, as no one want's to take responsibilty for a ginormous cock-up.

Goodbye to Brexit!

I understand. I do it myself.

today there are children incarcerated in homes, abusive homes, homes where the only outlet is for them to go to school and have some form of social contact and normality.

It's gone.

Our remarkable police who work in child protection and feel gutted to their core are now back in uniform according to the press.
