Goncalo Amaral is a Portuguese detective who has sacrificed the rest of his career to bring us what he sees as the truth about a missing three-year-old British girl, Madeleine Beth McCann. He therefore deserves the support of British people in particular.

Here's our letter about Saturday to members and supporters - just sent out.

NOTE: Our former Chairman Grenville Green has taken some leaflets with him on his trip to the U.S. with Helene and Stephen - and has undertaken to distribute leaflets in WYOMING this Saturday.

Dear Member / Supporter / Follower

GONCALO AMARAL SUPPORT PROJECT (GASP)

We're writing to remind you that The Madeleine Foundation will be holding its very first 'Goncalo Amaral Awareness Day this Saturday (July 17th 2010).

Our aim is to bring to the attention of the general public the situation that Mr Amaral currently finds himself in. He is incurring huge legal expenses as a result of the McCanns' libel action against him and two other prosecutions which we believe, just as he does, to be politically motivated.

The leaflet we've produced for the occasion (see below) aims to correct the many lies that have been told about him in the media. It portrays him, correctly, as the highly respected Portuguese citizen and great detective that he really is.

Members of The Madeleine Foundation Committee will be campaigning and leafletting in the suburbs of Bristol from 11.00am on Saturday morning. We'll be distributing the GASP leaflet and promoting our book: “The Madeleine McCann Case Files Volume. 1". We'll also be handing out leaflets to passers-by on the streets.

Other members and supporters will also be holding similar leafleting exercises in or near their home towns, (please see our website for the areas already covered), whilst others are doing what they can electronically by sharing the leaflet via e-mail, forums, blogs etc.

If you'd like to join in the campaign, please contact Tony or myself for a FREE batch of leaflets to distribute in your home town, or just amongst your friends, colleagues etc.

Alternatively you can download or share the leaflet directly from our website at http://bit.ly/aPe0dW

And of course you're more than welcome to join us in Bristol on the day if you so wish.

We hope to spread the word as far and wide as possible and every leaflet distributed, paper version or electronically, will count towards this. We'll be very grateful for your help.

DONATIONS TO MR AMARAL

And so will Mr Amaral. Donations can be made via the PJGA project at http://pjga.blogspot.com/ - or direct to the PJGA's bank account. Here's an extract from Mr Amaral's most recent last e-mail to us:

PJGA's solidarity account has the following bank details:
BPI - Banco Português de Investimento, Sete Rios, Lisboa
BPI – Banco Português de Investimento, Sete Rios branch, in Lisbon
NIB: 0010 0000 438 0385 000 1 62
IBAN: PT 50 0010 0000 438 0385 000 1 62
Swift: BB PI PT PL
Best regards,
(Gonçalo Amaral)

Thanks for reading this, and those of you who are leafleting, please tell us how it is going.

Yours sincerely,
Sharon Lawrence
