“Operation Grange detectives have refused to say what the "final line of enquiry" is”, affirm reports, but it continues to be used as justification for yet more British Home Office funding with a view to discovering what happened to Madeleine McCann - the little girl who vanished almost 11 years ago from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz. The new tranche of £150,000 will purportedly take Grange forwards for another six months.

“Operation Grange detectives have refused to say what the "final line of enquiry" is”, affirm reports, but it continues to be used as justification for yet more British Home Office funding with a view to discovering what happened to Madeleine McCann - the little girl who vanished almost 11 years ago from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.
The new tranche of £150,000 will purportedly take Grange forwards for another six months.
Coincidentally, a new thesis on the mystery - only last month mailed to Portugal’s Attorney General in the hope that it might change the status quo ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) - appears to have fallen on stony ground.
The theory, developed over the years by a number of professionals - including a former British police superintendent - challenges the starting point of Grange, which has consistently run-up against claims that its remit is far too narrow ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) and that the £11 million and rising spent on it this far has been “an expensive farce”.
Certainly, last night’s news regarding the new tranche of funding has prompted an outpouring of criticism from online readers - particularly in the Sun which is, as we write, allowing no-holds-barred comments through, apparently unmonitored.

What are they investigating?

After 11 years there is still not one iota of evidence that Maddie was abducted by a stranger or family or tapas member.
If there had been then it would have been spread all over the media.
What is missing is them stating that the final line of enquiry involves forensic evidence showing abduction.
Come to think of it, what is missing is mention of any enquiry involving forensic evidence which is strange given all the forensic evidence which exists.

Given the crime occurred in Portugal, what are the UK police investigating since any prosecution would be in Portugal by Portuguese prosecutors.

Could the UK police be investigating the one thing they can prosecute which is the fund?
Financial investigations can take time.

meanwhile no matter how much money they throw at Operation Grange, until they haul the mccanns, the tapas 7 and even clarrie in for interviews preferably all at the exact same time and all in separate police stations then they will get nowhere.
What criminal investigation especially in the case of a missing child where homicide, concealment of a corpse and filing a false police report are the minimum charges being faced does not interview the parents and those who had access to the missing child at the time of the alleged disappearance?

Statistics alone show most homicides of children are committed by parents/guardians or someone known to the family.
In cases where abduction is claimed the vast majority is where a parent/guardian has faked an abduction to conceal a homicide of a child or abduction is by a non custodial parent.

Claims that there is no evidence that Maddie has come to serious harm is refuted by the forensic evidence of body fluids and blood in the apartment and hire car and also by the reactions of trained blood and cadaver dogs in the apartment, hire car and on a pair of kate's checked pants, a child's red t shirt and the infamous cuddle cat.

Given also the claim by the mccanns that she was abducted by a paedophile, i would question what their definition of serious harm is if repeated rape and sexual abuse does not constitute serious harm.
If Maddie was a victim of sexual abuse at home or at the hands of others prior to or during said vacation, does this mean that they do not consider it serious harm as no parent would deliberately want to seriously harm their child.

This is something i would ask them about.

It would also explain the distancing language in relation to Maddie by her parents prior to her death, for she is long dead and subsequent when they refer to her as child, girl or even getting her name wrong completely.
it would also explain their behavior, there was no emotional bond with Maddie with kate positively blooming after Maddie was gone.

Operation Grange can only be taken seriously as a criminal investigation if the follow SOP and arrest and interview the mccanns, the tapas 7 and clarrie under caution.
I include clarrie since he has leaked so much including that Maddie is dead and he knows it.

I personally would also interview the extended families of kate and gerry to learn their relationship emotionally with Maddie, what they know regarding the initial calls that Thursday night and what they learned during their time in PDL.
I would also ask about their relationships with the mccanns today, if they have heard anything that gives them pause, if they know anything which could be of use to the investigation, with a healthy reminder that failing to cooperate will be considered obstruction of justice or perverting the course of justice.

Until everyone is arrested under caution, the UK investigation will simply tread water and gain nothing for the millions spent.
Operation grange needs to grow a pair and do some actual policing.

Those who seek to conceal and block the investigation will always be found out, history will do that and woe betide those who are still alive when the truth comes out as it will.
Someone will speak, the guilt will eat away.
A secret is not a secret if more than one person knows.

In the meantime we do not know what the PJ know nor do we know what or who they are investigating.
There is no time limit on the crime of murder, remember it was kate who told us the Portuguese don't want a murder.

"They want me to lie - I'm being framed.

"Police don't want a murder in Portugal and all the publicity about them not having paedophile laws here, so they're blaming us."'

Note also kate uses the pronoun I'm in relation to being framed but uses the pronoun we in relation to publicity about paedophile laws.

Why would she use the first person singular in relation to being framed when both her and gerry were suspects?
Who was doing the alleged framing?
WE shows shared unity and cooperation.

Was kate leaking responsibility?
What was she being framed for?
She links the framing with the crime of murder.
She is admitting then that there is evidence forensic and otherwise that would indicate a death, a murder.
Something that could not be explained away as accidental.
This would preclude something like accidental overdose, Maddie finding pills and eating them thinking they were candy.
Does this mean there were physical injuries that could not be explained away as accidental?
Old injuries or scars?
Healing injuries that perhaps would have required hospital treatment?
Fresh injuries that were clearly non accidental?
Signs perhaps of medical intervention such as CPR which often breaks ribs (it is not nice and easy as per the movies, CPR is brutal) or maybe a tracheostomy or something else?

Did Maddie die of something so bad that it could not be explained away and an autopsy must be prevented at all costs?

Only by interviewing everyone under caution with frequent reminders of the penalties for no cooperation, obstruction of justice, perverting the course of justice, aiding and abetting an offender, homicide, concealment of a corpse, filing a false police report, perjury and anything else they can think of before they start introducing things regarding the fund such as fraud, obtaining money and services by deception, wire fraud etc.

As it stands, UK policing is a laughing stock as even the most inept police forces at least would interview the parents and those who had access to the missing child as a start.

I cannot understand how the police are getting away with saying they are not interviewing the McCanns or their holiday gang. Everyone knows KM refused to answer the Portuguese police questions, so the British police can't pretend she has been investigated. But it's all of a piece with the media being gagged, and newspaper comments being strictly censored. You are allowed to toe the official line of "they shouldn't have left them alone" but any hint they were responsible for her disappearance don't get shown. Except for the Sun sometimes! Corruption rules in this beknighted land.

With the continued funding of OG, we're between a rock and hard place.

If OG is would up without a result, there will be a public furore over "wasted" funds and a veritable avalanche of Freedom of Information requests. And nothing will truly have been achieved.

If it continues, with regular funding, it still has the possibility of producing something even though the remit is limited. I'm thinking that, as the groundswell of public opinion turns against the McCanns (as it seems to be doing) then, should a key piece of evidence appear (such as someone blabbing) then it would be beneficial that OG continues to be an active investigation.

There is indeed public outrage but not for the money. There's outrage that Operation Grange isn't a proper investigation starting with the last people that saw Madeleine alive, looking at the inconsistencies, smoke and mirrors and down right lies.

I disagree. The authorities will avoid a direct response to a FOI request if the circumstances dictate.

If the establishment wish to withhold information, they will do so. Past attempts have proved that to be true ..

Gerry and Kate McCann have never given up hope of finding their daughter
Former GP turned medical worker Kate, 50, and heart doctor Gerry, 49, of Rothley, Leicestershire, cling onto a glimmer of hope that Maddie could still be alive after nearly 11 years.
She would be aged 14.
Detectives have refused to discuss details of the “important final line of inquiry” they are pursuing.
A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “We cannot give a running commentary on the investigation while it is ongoing.”
But the British force is determined to crack the world’s biggest ever child mystery despite just four officers remaining on the case.

heart doctor Gerry - Except he is no longer a heart doctor, he is a university lecturer At Leicester uni.

Kate is a medical worker which would imply some kind of medical work such as doctor, nurse or other professional.
We know she is not a doctor as, although she pays to remain on the GMC medical register, she has no license to practice and given she was away from practicing for 10 years, she would need to go back to uni to catch up on 10 years of medical advances as although as a GP she could possibly be reviewed by one of her peers as to fitness to practice, she would first have to get a job as a GP or anesthetist in order to be able to be reviewed and no hospital would take her on given she had been away for 10 years.
She would have to go back to uni to get the latest training which would be several years at a minimum plus working the different areas of medicine such as A&E, Paediatrics etc
This would mean leaving the twins with a neighbor or friend(if she has any) when they get home and if both parents are still working/taking classes.
Mind you at their age they should be more than capable of looking after themselves since Maddie was considered old enough to look after her younger siblings when she was aged 3.
I wonder why the media used the term medical worker as opposed to someone working in medicine?
A receptionist, phlebotomist, cleaner, nursing assistant could all claim to be working in medicine.
Why is kate so reticent about what job she has in medicine?
Is it because it is a big drop in status if she is just a nursing assistant or similar?
Given how they bragged about their jobs and all the training etc they did is her new job embarrassing for her going from GP to cleaner or phlebotomist?
If it was a high status job such as nurse etc i am sure she would be telling uis how she cares for patients with xyz,
She feels rewarded and "It would be something Maddie wanted to be"
We get no hint except it is in medicine.
Heck even working behind the counter at a pharmacy could be working in medicine.

I discount qualified nursing (RN)since she would have to undergo a degree in nursing and she would still have to study and retrain to catch up to the latest medical advances.
She could be a healthcare assistant since no qualifications are required and once trained they could go on to become an assistant practitioner or a nursing associate which would require training for two years, and attend universities and further education colleges part-time.

I think if she became a nurse she would tell the world they she had decided a change in direction blah blah.

The problem is, she is toxic, if she was working in a professional role such as a nurse and in regular contact with joe public, the news would have leaked out by now.
Grateful patient nursed back to health by former GP now a nurse, you get the idea.

We have not heard such news, so i wonder what her role in medicine/medical worker is?

She is highly recognizable yet we have heard no news of where she is working/what she is doing etc which perhaps leads me to wonder if it is some role not involving the public or minimal contact?
Cleaner since people tend not to notice them, phlebotomist, receptionist or maybe secretary.
It would have to be something she wants to keep quiet since whatever it is, it is a huge drop in status from a GP.
Gerry who is also toxic,was trapped in a dead end job since he was never going to be promoted and he had minimal contact with patients, usually just reading reports and scans.
Gerry was determined to be the best at whatever he does and at the hospital he was never going to be the best
He was disliked intensely by staff where he worked and being offered/applying for the job as a lecturer at the local uni gave everyone a dignified exit.
He comes out with an 'untarnished' reputation and becomes a cardiology lecturer, professor of cardiac imaging

As a professor, which is going to be his career path?
Teaching and Research?
Teaching focused
Research focused

Did he take a pay when he became a lecturer?
If so how much?

Is his job a fixed term contract or permanent?

Did he take a drop in salary when he left the hospital for the university?
Is kate full time or part time?
How does her salary compare to before?

Kate, come on, tell us what you do for a job, don't be shy.

Since the fund allowed support for the family, are they using the fund to top up their income?
The £500,000 that was ring fenced is allowed only to be used buy tools, buildings etc.
Did they use that money to maybe pay off the mortgage on the house?
Did they buy another property?
If so why?
They certainly didn't use it to buy tools since they are not running a business.

Was this done to prevent the courts using it to pay all the legal costs not only for themselves but all the defendants as well?

Sounds like they're running a business to me.

I would hazard a guess that she refers to her work as a medical job because she doesn't want zillions of emails sent to her employers with the portugese police files or a copy of the Supreme Court Ruling attached.

What office work since they aren't searching nor speaking with the PJ or UK police, nor is the online shop doing anything.

What security costs?
The cost of a new lock and key, a padlock?

Why did they feel the need for these costs?

Why any expenses at all since they have effectively erased Maddie from their family?
They physically erased her from the family, now they are mentally erasing her.

However we the public will not wipe her from our minds
The police will never be able to erase her, homicide cases are never closed, they may be shelved but they remain open.
Cold case detectives will look at a case from the start and find what others have missed and sooner or later, they will be called in for interviews along with the tapas 7 and chums.
