Madeleine McCann: Government 'gives police £154,000' to extend search for missing toddler
Investigation will continue until March 2018

Harry Cockburn 10 mins ago

The Home Office has reportedly handed the Metropolitan Police £154,000 to extend the search for missing toddler Madeleine McCann.

Scotland Yard had requested extra cash to continue its investigation into the three-year-old's disappearance in 2007.

The force had said it was investigating "significant" leads, which Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley described as "very worthwhile".

The new funds will allow the search to continue until March, Sky News reported.

The Met had previously suggested it would ask for further funds to investigate one final line of enquiry in the £11m Operation Grange.

Funding had previously only been guaranteed for the investigation to last until the end of September.

In August the Home Office said it would consider providing additional funding for the investigation, but at that point had not recieved a request from the Met.

"The level of funding provided is a reflection of the wide-ranging and complex nature of the investigation which the police have deemed necessary to undertake," a spokesperson said.

Three-year-old Madeleine vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal on 3 May, 2007.

Her disappearance sparked one of the most high-profile, and expensive, police investigations of recent times.

Scotland Yard's investigation has been active since 2011, but the number of detectives working on the case was cut from 29 to four in 2015.

Complex nature?  You mean those giving the extra money belong to the same institution that interfered in and covered it up originally?!  That kind of complex?!

So does this mean that the OG squad is going to be ramped up again?

In March they were given £85k to run till October, but this has nearly doubled for the next six month period.

Why should my HARD EARNED taxes pay for McSmug and McScam or the UK police who failed rule 101 - Question the so called parents FIRST, yet NEVER have done so? So from the start, that's enough for me to say NO. Do it properly or don't get the funding. What a joke our police force and country our UK has become - Worse than anything? We all know the lies, the happy dances, the smirks, the smugness, and we still have to give them MORE money? No. Enough's enough NO

Remember the seasons.

Sept/Oct = OG funding crisis

Dec/Jan = Limited Company accounts filed/available

Mar/Apr = OG funding crisis

Summer season - not much happening.

I asked PeterMac for his comment during an email interview interview

Here's the transcript:

Now we are being told there is a “Final Clue

This is a totally new concept.  You can have a clue or another clue, or a New clue, but how can you say there is a FINAL clue - after which there can, by definition, be no other clues ?

This is gibberish of the finest standard we have come to expect from this case.

And let us assume there is a clue - how do they know it will take EXACTLY 6 months for 4 detectives to look at it ?

Who wrote this tosh ?

Don’t panic folks, ‘good ol’ Trace’ is back and explains the funding:

FRESH CASH FOR MADDIE
Madeleine McCann cops given £154,000 to continue search for missing child in fresh hope for parents Kate and Gerry
Kate and Gerry McCann have today been given fresh hope in the decade-long search for their daughter
Tracey Kandohla and Sam Christie

Updated: 28th September 2017, 7:55 pm

POLICE searching for Madeleine McCann have received £154,000 to keep the investigation alive as hopes grow they are closing in on her kidnapper.
Kate and Gerry McCann have today been given fresh hope in the decade-long search for their daughter.
Without fresh funding Operation Grange could have shut down in as little as three weeks time.
The extra cash is set to fund the search until March next year.
Kate and and Gerry are “extremely thankful to both the Home Office and Scotland Yard for the continued funding,” their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said.
The Home Office announced this afternoon it was ploughing more money into Operation Grange, the official investigation, at the latest request of Met Police.
The McCann’s had feared the six-year inquiry, which has so far cost the taxpayer £11.2million, could have been shelved on Saturday.
He added: “They are very encouraged that there remains work to be done that requires this extra budget.”

A Home Office spokesman said: "Following an application from the Metropolitan Police, the Home Office has confirmed funding for Operation Grange until the end of March 2018.
"As with all applications, the resources required are reviewed regularly and careful consideration is given before any funding is allocated.”
Speaking ahead of the decision, the family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry are extremely thankful to the Metropolitan Police for requesting extra funding.
"They are very encouraged there remains work to be done that requires them seeking an extra budget. "They are hoping, naturally, it will be granted.
“They are grateful to all those officers who are still working on the case and are actively looking for Madeleine.
"They appreciate everything the police have done and are doing to get a resolution after all this time.”
Operation Grange was launched in 2011 after the Portuguese-led investigation was closed in 2008.
It has so far cost more than £11 million.
Scotland Yard asked for the extra cash from the Special Grants Committee to “pursue a final line of inquiry” a McCann source revealed, adding: “It gives Kate and Gerry hope that after more than 10 years they may finally find out what happened to their daughter."
Three-year-old Maddie vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007.
She had been left alone sleeping with her younger twin siblings while her parents were dining in a nearby tapas restaurant.
A Home Office spokesman revealed the total awarded to Operation Grange for the financial year 2017/2018 is £309,000.
The figure is made up of the new £154,000 for police operational costs, the previous £85,000 given in March, totalling £239,000.
An extra £70,000 has also come out of the budget for “recently agreed admin and employment” which does not pay for detectives.
The spokesman added: “The number of officers remains at the same level.”

Scotland Yard declined to comment on the Maddie inquiry new cash boost.
Detectives on the inquiry, headed by Detective Chief Inspector Nicola wall, say there is “still important work to do and focused lines of investigation to be pursued.”
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The inquiry has not reached a conclusion and we’re continuing with focus and determination.
"There are no immediate plans to reduce officer numbers further at this time.”

…………………………………………………
So £85k in March for the four detectives, plus £70k ‘admin and employment’ which was seemingly forgotten about until recently.

This total funding has therefore been matched for the next six months.

£169k for detectives, £140 for admin and employment!

I can feel a John McEnroe moment coming on!

British taxpayers stump up again , trouble is NOBODY ASKED US DID WE WANT TO !

Is there another organisation in this country where some prat could go the their boss with a begging bowl for £85k, only to turn round a couple of months later and say 'Oh sorry, I forgot about the other £70k' and actually get away with it without getting the boot?

Completely unbelievable, if it wasn't to do with OG and the Mc's.

My blood is boiling. Not because I'm bothered about my money as a tax payer, and not even because TM win again (wouldn't expect anything less). But because my tiny shred of hope that we are not living in some kind of matrix has diminished.

It's hard to carry on hoping for justice when our thoughts and opinions are just so insignificant in the scheme of things.

More from PeterMac interview

The funding now lasts until March next year.

This means that Grange is ABSOLUTELY SURE, - certain so that they are SURE, Beyond a reasonable doubt,  -  that Madeleine will NOT be found before then
Otherwise the wording would have been till March, "or earlier if she is found" . . .  But is wasn't and never has been.
Even the McCanns were planning 100 day and one and two year "anniversaries" within a very short time of her alleged disappearance.

So we can dispose of any idea that there is any sort of "search" for a live Madeleine. There never has been.  Not even the parents pretended to do so.
Grange did a bit of high publicity searching for a DEAD Madeleine, but no one has ever done anything about a live one. (Apart from hundreds of holiday makers on the first night, obviously)

So we move logically to what is left.

Tracking down a last suspect / the Final Clue . . .
Does anyone really believe there is an identified 'suspect; who it will take EXACTLY 6 months to trace, and which after ten years of two police forces working together they have not yet managed to bring in for questioning ?

And why the FINAL CLUE ?   How do they already know there will be no others ? Cold case investigations bring up clues decades down the line.  But here they KNOW this is final ?

OR . . . . .
Given that the DPP / CPS went to Portugal some years ago - obviously to talk about possible charges and jurisdiction - (Because that is what the DPP / CPS does)
Given that the Supreme Court of Portugal has unequivocally ruled against the McCanns and went further to state in bold and highly unusual terms that they had NOT been exonerated or cleared
Given that the McCann's supposed Appeal against the Portuguese Supreme Court to the ECHR is likely to be chucked out in a few weeks or months
Given that the Mccanns will then have to cough up the entire costs of all four actions
Given that the previous "accountants" to the "Fund" (HM) have totally washed their hands of it and seem to have declined to prepare a final account
Given that the McCanns were reported - by their own spokes-thing to have siphoned off £ 750,000 from the "Fund" into their own privately controlled account .  [Thanks for that Mitchell !]
Given that the press are now pretending that a stated  £ 500,000 is the McCann's "own money" just ready to be put back and used for the search

Are Grange now watching the "Fund" and preparing an "Al Capone' moment for them all ?

Or possibly just booking flights to the Algarve over the winter !

I confess I don't know.

As for the medals - this from Google & Wiki "Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal"

Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, QPM (born 25 October 1957) is a former English police officer and was the head of London's Metropolitan Police as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis from 2011 until 2017.

Born in Sheffield, Hogan-Howe joined the South Yorkshire Police in 1979, becoming District Commander of the Doncaster West area, as well as obtaining university qualifications in law and criminology. In 1997, he transferred to Merseyside Police as Assistant Chief Constable for Community Affairs, moving on to area operations. He then joined the Metropolitan Police as Assistant Commissioner for personnel, before being appointed Chief Constable of Merseyside Police.

After two years as an Inspector of Constabulary, Hogan-Howe was briefly Acting Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police before being appointed Commissioner in September 2011. He once interrupted an interview in order to personally apprehend a criminal, and later made the controversial decision not to arrest protesters carrying an ISIS flag.

Hogan-Howe was knighted in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to policing.

Sir Bernard Hogan Howe has all of the Medals on show, but what are the medals for,Sir Bernard, how you have systematically turned a" Very Blind Eye"on Police malpractices within your years of service?
Remember the fiasco over the Police protection unit to"Guard the Royal Family"where these Officers ran amok with their own fellow Contables Funds, while you was"Head Of Personnel"within the Police force,eh Bernard, misconduct in Public Office, but hold don't hold your breath, because that will never happen and he knows it,with all the events neatly tucked under the House of Commons newly laid carpets?
Not forgetting his close association to Kate and Gerry, then throw in good old Brunty, dossier, now what was your conclusion eh Sir Bernard,No Action to be taken, because the person involved had been persecuted by the well scripted big Jim gamble and cohotrs,Rest In Peace Mrs Brenda Leyland, the one person who cared for what had happened to a little Girl called Madeleine.
