Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
It's distasteful when people are taken for fools with no brains from all those spouting their constant lies.
It is more than distasteful to refer to a great man, with a high position within the PJ, as "disgraced" He was the one who was looking for Madeleine.
It was distasteful that Kate chose to call two police officers, who were looking for her daughter, effing tossers.
Kate being an Ambassador for Missing People is very distasteful.
Do they care? NO.

OK. All of that is distasteful. It still doesn't excuse nasty little jokes about cuddly toys, etc. That doesn't take the debate any further. In fact it detracts from it.
Also, your tone is quite aggressive. I feel like I am being ganged up on when all I was trying to do was make a reasonable point in a reasonable way.
I'll give up on that. I now feel unwelcome on this forum and maybe will just go back to reading and not posting.

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
And systematically deceiving the whole world, alongside her supercilious husband, into thinking their precious child was abducted, most likely by a predatory paedophile and/or child trafficking syndicate? Abducted because they left their three vulnerable children alone in a strange place to fend for themselves every night - so they say? Using the child's toy to tug the heartstrings of the public and taking the peoples money, strangers, on the pretext of searching for their child but instead using the money to pay expensive lawyers to get them off the hook?Get'emGonçalo wrote:Yeah, they are distasteful, I agree.
But no more distasteful than Prime Suspect, cadaver stinking, corpse concealing, Kate McCann Ambassador for Missing People being involved with a Choir that includes family members of real missing people going on BGT and potentially winning and singing in front of The Queen.
Now, that's distasteful.
Nah - sorry mate. Respect is not a birthright - it has to be earned.

Who let the cat out the bag? Shame it's not a blue bag - that would complete the ensemble.

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
Gordon Brown recommended Cowell for knighthood at the Queens 2010 Birthday honours.
Cowell also made a contribution to the McCann fund when it was first set up.
Surely, this choir has an unfair advantage over the other contestants in BGT

Taking the video at face value, perhaps certain choir members fear the wrath of the British Public ?

Did anyone notice she said "Kate McCann may appear in the finals" So they already know the choir is in the final?

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
That cannot be certain yet as it is only auditions that are pre-recorded.
More acts are selected than are needed for the semi-finals, but we can assume from the leaked publicity that the Missing People Choir has been selected for semi-finals by the judges.
The semi-finals are then televised live over a week. Each night, two acts from each semi-final (the act with the most votes and another chosen by the judges from the acts in second and third place) progress to the live final.
However, I would place a large bet on the Missing People Choir making it to the finals because the judges can even select a 'wild-card' act to join the finalists if something goes terribly wrong at the semi-final stage.

MISSING People Choir are already being tipped to win Britain’s Got Talent.
The new series kicks off this weekend with a batch of new hopefuls – we take a look at the Choir and what they’re all about…
The Missing People Choir will perform on Britain’s Got Talent
Who are the Missing People Choir?
The Missing People Choir is made up of individuals and families of people who have vanished, and is led by the Missing People charity.
Other members include:
Peter Boxell who’s son Lee, 15, who vanished in Sutton, South London, in 1988 after a football match.
Peter Lawrence who’s daughter Claudia, 35, was reported missing on March 19, 2009, after failing to turn up for work in York.
Rachel Edwards who is the sister of missing Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards – he mysteriously vanished from a London hotel on February 1, 1995, on the eve of the band’s US tour.
When will the Missing People Choir be on Britain’s Got Talent? What will they perform?
The Missing People Choir recorded their Britain’s Got Talent audition back in January.
They performed the tear-jerking song I Miss You, written by Peter Boxell, and were immediately tipped as possible BGT winners.
It includes the lyrics: “I never thought I’d be without you.
“I always thought you’d be here safe with me.
“Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up to find you.”
An audience member in London said: “Images of some of the missing people they were linked to also flashed up on the screen which had everyone in tears.
“Judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were particularly moved.
“Amanda said they were an inspiration.
“The choir said they had only performed together about seven times.
“You could tell in their voices how much it means to them all.”
It’s not yet known which episode the audition will be screened on, but it will be shown once the show kicks off on Saturday 15 April 2017 at 8pm.
Peter Boxall – father to missing Lee Boxell – wrote the song they will perform
What does Simon Cowell think about the Missing People Choir?
The choir has already got the seal of approval from head judge Simon Cowell.
Simon told the Huffington Post: “We had something this year called the Missing People Choir, which was very emotional.
“They’ve got a shot at winning, I think. I remember on the day thinking that it was special.”

If I had a spare £100 I would put it all on a no show by Mrs. because of the Supreme Court ruling.
IIRC there was no sign of her when the Christmas song was being promoted so I very much doubt that she will appear on this show.

Yes there is - it was introduced in series 8. Each of the 4 judges have a golden buzzer and Ant and Dec have a 5th one. But that just means they go straight through to the live semi-finals. (As I said before, even if an act gets 3 or 4 'yeses' during the auditions, they may not be selected for the live semi-finals) Some golden buzzer acts have not made it to the final.

Operation Grange had the GOLDEN BUZZER when they fast-tracked the McCanns to the 'abduction only' theory (the only remit for Operation Grange to consider). They were given a free pass to the semi-finals ..... it is our remit to make sure that they don't get to the final and a patsy is declared to have abducted Madeleine.

Kate will be the one standing on the edge of the stage with the "Applause" and "Boo" cards for the audience. We probably wont see her though.

A prop for the media - forever present for the camera but conspicuous by it's absence on less guarded occasions.
Poor old cuddlecat, used and abused just like Madeleine.
Cuddlecat who, according to a source, never left Kate McCann's side because she could still smell her daughter on it.
Cuddlecat who, according to Kate McCann herself, she washed because it was dirty and reeked of suntan lotion.
What a bleeping farce!

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
Well, Missing People Choir were on last night's programme. Contrary to the atatement made in the news article that "The Missing People Choir is made up of individuals and families of people who have vanished", there were only 5 members of the choir who were related to missing persons. The rest were said to be 'supporters and staff of Missing Peope'.
IMO the choir are nothing special - very little harmony etc. If they get to the final then it truly is a fix!
Of course it was emotional to see the pictures and names of loved ones who have been missing for years and the cameras made the most of Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Anthony McPartland and a member of the audience who were visibly emtional.
I think the sentiments behind the appearance of the choir are laudible. It's just a pity that it was hi-jacked by the McCann supporters.
You can see the full interview and performance here.

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
Exploitative showmanship - what's it got to do with Britain's got talent?
The judges are insincere, if they're genuinely touched by the suffering of others then they should get off their bums and do something about it - by that I mean do something practical, not attach your name to a charity just for show. They're in a better position both financially and influentially to make a difference - why don't they do that rather than sitting in a studio glamourised in best bib and tucker for Saturday night television, feigning concern for effect.
What's with the nation? Why do so many people allow themselves to be sucked into a state of mass hysteria by a few z-listed television personalitiies? Don't people even bother to think for themselves anymore. Britain is lacking talent - it's turning into a nation of zombies.
There are thousands of people out there who every day of their lives give body and soul to helping others, forgotten people who invariably take the blame when something goes belly-up. The police the paramedics the ambulance service the doctors and nurses and all others in the care profession etc. - they take the flak in this blame culture. Why not give them positive recognition rather than hundreds of conceited self-serving undeserving non-entities?

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
I'm glad the McCann's didn't feature. A sad and emotive "act" but if one were judging technically, its rather average. Tuning, breathing and timing issues at times, little use of light and shade in phrasing and diction less than clear quite often. Still, they are nervous amateurs so that's understandable and its a brave attempt. Flaws aside, my heartfelt sympathies to those bearing such a burden. They may win. I stopped watching this and X Factor years ago due to wincing at performances which were lauded by the judges.

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
I watched this last night. I have every sympathy for families of missing loved ones but I won't be voting for the organisation. Not just because of it's link to Kate McCann as ambassador, although that is a major misjudgement, but because in my opinion a charity that uses over 90 per cent of it's donations on high salaries is not a charity in my eyes, it's a business.

Here is the latest front page runner on the Missing People website - I'm not quite sure what happened to the Missing People's day on 25th April. There seems to be no mention of it on the initial page.
