CORRUPT ESSEX POLICE OFFICER WAS NAMED 7 YEARS AGO BY AN INFORMANT

Earlier this month, Essex Police Detective Constable Darren Patterson was sacked without notice by Essex Police for gross misconduct.  Here’s the link:

https://www.essex.police.uk/about-us/misconduct-hearings/dc-darren-paterson/

The article read as follows:

An independently chaired misconduct panel has dismissed without notice a police constable for gross misconduct.

“The panel found that, between July 2009 and October 2011, DC Darren Paterson, who worked at Essex Police’s College as a trainer, intentionally accessed the force’s computer systems to view or attempt to view confidential information that he should not have accessed.

“The panel, which took place between Tuesday October 4th and Wednesday October 5th, also heard that DC Paterson failed to disclose true and complete details on vetting forms.

“The panel, chaired by independent legally qualified chair Miss Siobhan Goodrich, found that Dc Paterson’s conduct had breached the standards of professional behaviour in the areas of confidentiality, duties and responsibilities and honesty and integrity.

“After the hearing, which took place at Chelmsford County Court, Assistant Chief Constable Maurice Mason said: "Officers and staff employed by Essex Police routinely come into contact with sensitive information and intelligence and it is of the upmost importance that it is handled correctly and only ever accessed for valid policing purposes.

"Any breach of this trust is completely unacceptable and will be dealt with appropriately.

"We also expect our officers to display the same level of honesty, integrity and transparency when taking part in the vetting process.

"Given the circumstances of this case the panel felt that dismissal without notice was the most appropriate course of action.”

Yet this officer was named seven years ago (2009) to the former Chief Constable of Essex by an informant I have been working with for some time. The informant had been able to name a large number of corrupt officers from both Suffolk and Essex Police forces. In the case of Darren Paterson, he was able to give enough information to Essex Police to identify the officer as corrupt. Had the then Chief Constable acted promptly on the information provided by the informant, the detective’s corrupt career could have been cut short at that point.

I have seen the document in which he named Darren Patterson and 6 other allegedly corrupt serving police officers, five from Essex Police and one from the Met Police. I have also listened to some of many recorded telephone calls made by the informant to police officers over many years.

Back in 2008, the informant’s information about corrupt police officers and the drugs dealers they were assisting led to the setting up of Operation Popcorn, which culminated in the spectacular simultaneous arrest of 15 alleged drug dealers by 250 officers. It was possibly Suffolk Police’s biggest-ever operation. A police officer was also charged with drugs offences but was unexpectedly found ‘Not Guilty’.

Seven of the drugs gang were eventually jailed, link:

http://www.thecomet.net/news/seven_are_jailed_for_total_of_38_years_after_drug_ring_smashed_1_367817

During the time he was assisting Suffolk Police he was interviewed by very senior Suffolk Police officers and two officers from NCIS.

However, confidential information he gave to a police officer he trusted was leaked to the criminal fraternity and he was fully compromised as a result and had to move house. The informant immediately realised that the leak either come from, or must have been authorised by, a senior Suffolk Police officer, and he understandably lost trust in the police whom he was trying to assist.
======

Despite the above, the informant, who has said he will only give up additional information about other corrupt officers to senior police officers or the National Crime Agency, has joined a campaign to ‘out’ corrupt police officers and has asked me to say that he can be contacted at mikejones6553@yahoo.co.uk

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".
