77 people charged with child sex offences - 30 million indecent images seized - Operation Lattise, Scotland (BBC, 29 Jul 2016

Another terrible report in this extraordinary few weeks of news we've had since the Brexit vote:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-36922820

According to this story of child abuse in Scotland...

30 million indecent images were seized

There were 523 potential victims of child abuse

77 people were charged under Operation Lattise, with nearly 400 different offences

There were 134 separate investigations carried out between 6 June and 15 July this year

83 suspects' homes were searched

547 computers were seized

122 children have already been referred to Child Protection Services.

Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham, who led the investigation, said: "This is not sexting in terms of people sending abusive messages to each other.

"This is children being sexually abused and these images being shared.

"It is about real victims in Scotland and elsewhere. It's about these horrific acts which ruin people's lives and we need to make sure that stops."

The offences included:

rape,

sharing indecent images of children,

grooming for sexual purposes,

sexual extortion,

indecent communication with children,

possession of a firearm,

bestiality and

drugs offences.

Det Insp Andy McWilliam, who was also involved in the investigation, said that new technology meant there was no way for perpetrators to hide or erase what they had done online.

He said: "Whether they throw the computer in the bath or not, we can find what they have looked at. And we can use covert technology to identify who you are and where you are.

"The investigation was about identifying real victims in Scotland and elsewhere

"These individuals want to be wherever children are. They are using websites, chatrooms and forums.

"These men - and it is predominantly men - are using the profiles of younger children to groom them and offend against them."

Just can't get my head around 30m images.

If they have only identified 523 potential victims, that would be nearly 60k images per victim which can't be right. Presumably the 30m must include many pictures that they can't identify &/or they consider to be outside their jurisdiction.

Wherever they have come from, it is still an unbelievable amount of images.

Hi DougD,Just last month we had the SNP becoming involved with obtaining testimonies from the abused children in Dame Goddard's inquiry, where the SNP members were objecting to QC's taking the witness statements on cost grounds?
We now have Ex-Police officers producing verbal evidence to Channel 4 Dispatches of cover ups by the Metropolitan Borough Police Service of"Child Prostitution" in and around the London Boroughs that has gone on for over Thirty years or more, from the Care Homes System, supposedly there to protect them from abuse?
Dunblane has a D-Notice on it due to Mr. Thomas Hamilton being found guilty as the"Lone Gunman" in the murderous slaying of innocent children and their Teachers,Hamilton had claimed that he had"Procured Minors" for sexual purposes to the "Elite" members of Society and possible connections to Royalty?
When the D-Notice was placed on "Dunblane Murders" the issue of the Iraq war was about to commence and Operation Ore had uncovered a swath of Politicians,Cabinet Members names on this list of obtaining child abuse images, quickly swept under the proverbial House of Common's carpet?
Now we have the latest news with over 523 potential victims of abusive images in Scotland and have had prolific investigations into"Paedophile Rings" by Lord Hague, Byrn Aly, Estyn Care Homes,Elm Guest House, which apparently there is No Evidence of these Paedophile Rings being in existence?
The Editors and former News Paper Proprietors have obtained Evidence supporting their existence and have had "Mysterious Visitors" on the Eve of publishing their stories being threatened under the guise of the "Official Secrets Act", yet seemingly the Ex Police Officers are not free to speak to Dame Goddard under the same Jurisdiction for fear of Prosecution?
What a Den of Vice that the House of Common's holds within it's structures to"Protect the Public" from finding out the Truth, a bit like Hillsborough,Death of Daniel Morgan,Jill Dando,Madeleine McCann next on the list?
