Excellent leading question.

The answer lies mainly with two key people:

1) Det. Chief Supt. Graeme Bull, the original Senior Investigating Officer in the case, who in January 2012 was found guilty by the Independnet Police Complaints Committee of 13 separate counts of misconduct. Unfortunately, he resigned from the police force before the final report was published - and so evaded any disciplinary penalty - and

2) Pathologist Dr Michael John Heath, the pathologist who was called in by Essex Police to do the post-mortem. It is one modest feather in my cap that in January 2006, just days after I announced that I had applied for a summons against Michael Barrymore alleging drugs offences, Heath resigned from the panel of Home Office approved pathologists, and if you google his name, his appalling track record will soon become apparent. In my opinion, it was no accident that Heath was chosen to do the initial post-mortem in the case of the death of both Stuart Lubbock and Lee Balkwell. You might recall that Heath said simply that Lubbock was 'drowned' - but  later, the Coroner called in three other pathologists who all agreed that he suffered from asphyxiation and a heart attack caused by a brutal rape.

Things that went wrong in the first two days after Lee was reported dead included:

* post-mortem delayed for over 24 hours
* Heath completely failed to visit the scene of the crime
* marked lack of mortuary photographs
* woeful post-mortem report (in the judgment of two other leading pathologists, Benjamin Swift and Deryk James), omitting all manner of steps that should have been taken if it had been a properly-conducted post-mortem, and
* Det. Chief Supt. Bull ordering a Detective Constable to burn most of Lee's clothes before the post-mortem was actually held - thus permanently removing all manner of forensic evidence that could well have established beyond doubt what really happened to Lee that night.

Hi Mr. Bennett, what where the findings of any investigation by the IPCC and was any Police Officer(s) reprimanded for their conduct in this Investigation of a mysterious death/Accident(made to look like),considering the Police had information of Criminal activity at the farm premises?
In the Death of Mr Lee Balkwell aged 33,Essex Police had clearly failed in their "Oath" to protect the public from Criminal activity during this investigation and as stated in "Private Eye"could be Complicit in Perverting the Course of Justice, in the wilful destruction of Evidence?

ANSWER:  If you go to the IPCC website - www.ipcc.gov.uk and type in 'Lee Balkwell' you will be able to read the entire 147-page report.

But to summarise, the IPCC found...

EIGHT officers (mostly of very senior rank) guilty of a total of...

TWENTY-SIX separate counts of misconduct, of which...

THIRTEEN were found against the original Senior Investigating Officer in the case, Det. Chief Supt. Graeme Bull.

No disciplinary action was taken against any one of them, as most of them had resigned by the time the IPCC concluded their report (!). The IPCC took over four years to prepare their report.

This was Essex Police's formal response to the damning indictment of their force by the IPCC:

What do the marks of a stun gun look like?

Where were the marks consistent with those made by a stun gun on Lee Balkwell's body?

I cannot imagine the grief of Les Balkwell, fighting so hard to get to the truth of what happened to his son.

Hi Mr. Bennett and Aquila for the reply.
It really does make you think who are the real criminals and their perpetrated acts after the duplicity, downright untruths elicited from Police officers in trying to cover up this murder of Mr. Lee Balkwell, who were they trying to protect from the truth and why?
They must have spent millions of pounds and numerous amount of Police resources, solicitor, barrister fees, CPS, DPP involved in this collusion to avoid what happened?

They may be described as two small circular burn marks caused by placing the two prongs of a stun gun on the body. The distance they are apart will be a major forensic clue.

REPLY: Yes.

Hi Tony

Aquila asked where were the marks on Lee Balkwell's body?
Yes, sorry, I misread that.

I think it is getting too personal and sensitive to go into any further detail. What I can say is that these marks - whatever they were - were found on two separate parts of his body

Private Eye has returned to the subject of the death of Lee Balkwell in its current issue (30 August).

The article exposes the IPCC's failure to investigate some of father Les Balkwell's recent new allegations and complaints.

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of that issue - can anyone else who might read Private Eye post up a copy of the article please?
