MISSING Madeleine McCann's parents have been given new hope after a secret meeting with the Home Secretary, The Sun can reveal.
Kate and Gerry McCann spent more than an hour on Wednesday with Theresa May to beg the new government to help them.
And they left the meeting "more optimistic than ever".
A source close to the couple said: "They asked for help in furthering the hunt for Madeleine. They have not given up on her and they don't want the Government to either. They especially want help in putting pressure on the Portuguese government to agree to a joint British-Portuguese review of the case.
"They feel there may be clues and leads that could have been missed."
Just before the election in May, the couple met David Cameron who pledged that if elected Prime Minister he would do whatever he could to help them.
A Home Office source said yesterday: "Kate and Gerry were given renewed hope that their daughter will be found.
"With the might of the coalition Government behind them, they left looking more optimistic than ever that every effort is still being made to find Madeleine."
Maddie went missing in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, when she was three.
A private investigation team employed by the McCanns now continues the hunt for her.

''They especially want help in putting pressure on the Portuguese government to agree to a joint British-Portuguese review of the case.''
One is confident that the Portuguese will manage very well on their own without any help from the British. Previous British 'help' is precisely the reason for the Portuguese being led a dance from the beginning of the investigations.
One would vote NO to a joint British and Portuguese review. However, one would shout a great YES to the case being unshelved and further investigations being carried out solely by the Portuguese without further delay.

Well they should know -- they're concealing most of them.

I'm new here, its a great site. What stood out from that bilge for me was ' Home Office source ' saying Kate and Gerry were given renewed hope their daughter will be found' !!!!!
How are the Home Office in a position to give such hope? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

What perplexed me is how come they are able to meet home secretary after secretary even of different political party. Will home office equally give other parents/next of kin of missing person the time of the day and they only have to ask. If not, why are the mccanns given such privilege time and again?
Just a game, they know suggesting joint review with PJ is smart move, because can anyone see the PJ agreeing to a whitewash together with the UK?

I nearly skipped this.
Maybe a change of title to something like: Mccanns secret meeting with Theresa May, or something like that, will be more eyecatching and prompt more interest in the thread.
