Is the reason the cops are waiting due to money?

Hi, been reading this for fir a long time but never registered before.

Is there any possibility the reason the McCanns have not yet been arrested and charged to do with money?

When there fund was full they would have been able to get the best legal team in the world. The best can get OJ Simpson found not guilty of murder and the money could havr got even this pair off without charge.

So is it possible the police are playing the waiting game here, til the McCanns ccan no longer afford the best?

There would b no point charging them if you knew there lawyers would be highly likely to win in court.

Probably just my fantasy but you never know.

Welcome to the forum. That's a very interesting point you raise, and depending on the conclusion of the Amaral damages court case, if the McCanns get the coffers emptied in paying costs, it might stifle their ability to "lawyer up" in future. I would hazard a guess that financial backers they had at the beginning wouldn't be as interested now, nearly 8yrs on.

Probably nothing in it judging by how things have gone in this case but you nver know. Its a thought that could offer some hope for those who want justice.

The last set of accounts just published show they have approx £700k which is pretty substantial, but of course there are other board members of the Fund Ltd company, so who knows if the funds could be wrestled from their hands or used to pay the costs of a private lawsuit.

I really wish Grange would issue some sort of statement soon though, I really don't see how this can be allowed to go on indefinitely costing millions at a time of austerity measures by the government, it seems very strange to me.

If some influential wealthy people are involved in the cover up and would be exposed if the McCann's were taken to court, I would imagine they would ensure that the McCann's receive all the necessary funding to avoid this happening.

Not really. carter Ruck would work on a no win no fee basis if there was a case raised against the McCanns, it's excellent publicity for them and they know that if they wen, they can stick in a huge bill for the work.

SY would not be scared about taking on a lawyer, if there was evidence to charge them. There isn't, hence they are not "waiting to pounce" on them. They are simply looking elsewhere based on their findings to date and are not interested in the McCanns whatsoever. (whether rightly or wrongly)
