Aquila, it came on the ticker on the BBC. This is what it is saying on BBC Twitter:

Numerous reports on social media of loud explosion in Manchester area - more details to follow

I have the BBC news on the tv, too, but there's nothing on there.

LATEST:

Manchester Fire and Rescue Service report finding no signs of fire after report of loud bang in Salford area

It appears that it was a false alarm.

I'd hazard a guess that it was a firework - some of them sound like bombs going off.

I saw something about this at the time and it said it was thought that it could have been due to two people making illegal drugs but haven't seen anything since.   It also showed the side of the house giving way and falling down.    It sounds like the same news story to me.

Thanks rustyj.    I don't know what Britain is coming to, I really don't.   Makes me very sad.

Fracking - it`s going on under the North Yorkshire Moors ?

One of the dangers, I believe, is explosions during the fracturing process.

As a result of fracking Oil is now down to 73 dollars a barrel, from a peak of 140
Gas 4.2 against a high of 6.2 (USD/mmBTU)

Russia and Saudi are NOT enjoying this ! Rest of the world - Stand To !

So why is the price of petrol here still £5.59 a gallon?

(122.9p per litre for anyone who does metric)

Because of the 112p over 61% is tax, not the price of the fuel, extraction, processing, storage, transport, delivery, wages, rent, profit, . . .
all of which has to come out of the remaining 55p
The reduction in the price of crude can only therefore impinge on a tiny percentage of the pump price.
As always, TAX is the issue

Did you realise that if you make your own bio-diesel, out of old chip fat or olive oil or fermented cow poo . . YOU HAVE TO PAY FUEL DUTY on it !

Whatever is going on, it's all over the country.
I definitely heard a number of quite loud explosions and thought our local thugs had some fireworks left over from Guy Fawkes day.
Then I found an article in our local newspaper
Mystery of loud bangs heard in Swansea and across the country

http://www.southwales-eveningpost.co.uk/Mystery-loud-bangs-heard-Swansea-country/story-24929136-detail/story.html

If I was in my home area I'd say it's to do with mining but not all over the country and not over here. Plus the MoD is in utter denial.......makes me think!

Isn't that dreadful????
They claim to be one of the best newspapers in the world.
Completely delusional, I'd say.

One of their reporters/journos is into sci-fi and co.

Horrible stuff!!

You have to admit 'there's an alien inside my vinegar bottle' is a great book title - move over Douglas Adams, here comes Swansea. Twin Towns might almost get a similar film production out of that. laughat

To be fair, and as much as I love the guy, it doesn't sound much different to a Richard D Hall video.

Make up your own mind......

Back to the original quiestion: what was it? I heard the "breaking news" early on LBC. Distraction from something else? If so what and why?
Will we ever find out? Will it be burried by mainstream media?  splat

There are fracking drilling sites in South Wales.

If they don`t provide adequate venting for the methane gas, there will be explosions.

Not saying it is fracking, but possible, particularly as the other explosions were in a fracking area.

Blood and cadaver alerts
dismissed by UK Government

Retired DCI Gonçalo Amaral: "The English can always present the conclusions to which they themselves arrived in 2007. Because they know, they have the evidence of what happened - they don't need to investigate anything. All this is now a mere 'show off'."

Retired murder DCI Colin Sutton: "I would also like to make the point that Operation Grange was so restricted from the start as to be destined to fail."

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley made public on national TV that Operation Grange is a complete fraud.

Ex-DCI Andy Redwood had a "revelation moment" on BBC's Crimewatch on 14th October 2013 when he announced that Operation Grange had eliminated the Tanner sighting - which opened up the 'window of opportunity', in accordance with their remit, to allow the fake abduction to happen.

Despite "irrelevant behaviour" from blood and cadaver dogs in the McCann's apartment, on Kate McCann's clothes, and in the car they hired three weeks after Maddie disappeared, Ex-Chief Inspector, Ian Horrocks, said: "The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter is frankly preposterous."

Gerry McCann called for example to be made of 'trolls'. SKY News reporter Martin Brunt doorstepped Brenda Leyland on 2 October 2014. She was then found dead in a Leicester hotel room. Brenda paid the price. She paid with her life.

Ex-Deputy Chief Constable, Jim Gamble QPM, congratulated SKY reporter, Martin Brunt, on twitter for doorstepping Brenda Leyland on behalf of Gerry McCann.
