Looking for madeleine hardcover gone

Just had a look on amazon and it seems you can now only get the kindle edition of Looking for madeleine, the hardcover copy does not appear to be for sale any longer...sold out??? Can someone check this to make sure its not just me seeing this please?

I wonder if the publisher (Headline) had withdrawn it, since their timing was incredibly bad. Possibly they'll make it available again when the trial in Portugal sorts itself out...?

In the modern world, some books are better bound in hardback for practical reasons. Such books are dictionaries, textbooks: basically, reference works designed to withstand the rigour of regular usage. Hardback makes sense for these books. If you've ever had un-sewn, cheaper, perfect-bound editions of your university textbooks, you'll know that these end up as a pack of cards without a box by the end of your first semester.
To produce many other books, especially mass-market fiction, in hardback is purely for commercial reasons. Cynical, I know, but you can price a hardback much higher than a paperback so it makes sense to release a book projected to be a best-seller in hardback because people will buy it, pure and simple! Look at Dan Brown or J.K. Rowling. You can release the new Harry Potter as a hardback and the fans will pay the extra £££ for the 'boards' and wrap-around cover because they are hungry for it. Then, when sales start to wane, you release the paperback to mop up as much of the rest of the gravy as you can.
Obviously, in this case, things haven't gone quite to plan.
I wonder why!
