Missing from the Summers & Swan book; GARY HAGLAND, the money-laundering expert
None of the news items about Summers & Swan's book, none of the serialisations, not even the Daily Telegraph in yesterday's extended piece about Brian Kennedy, has mentioned the main man he employed at his Knutsford McCann private investigation HQ from September 2007 - right at the very start of the work carried out by the series of dodgy detectives used by the McCanns...
GARY HAGLAND.
It doesn't look like Summers and Swan are going to mention him and it's doubtful if they ever tried to interview him (we shall see if they did, later today).
GARY HAGLAND was the Nottingham-based McCann Team insider who 'phoned me one Saturday afternoon back in April 2009, confessed that he was carrying 'a great burden', and told me that after working for Brian Kennedy for 6 months (at his Knutsford HWQ), he told to Kennedy to his face in no uncertain terms that his enquiry 'was headed in the wrong direction'.
Subsequently, Hagland sent me a copy of a chapter of his as-yet-unpublished book on the case.
Hagland's expertise was in money-laundering; he had various qualifications on 'Financial Compliance' (anti-money laundering) legislation and had published articles on the subject in professional journals. He also, as he says in his book, 'had friend in MI6'.
There is a short bit about him on Part 3 of Richard Hall's recent documentary films, where Hall asks the blindingly obvious question: "How is an expert in money-laundering able to help find a missing child?".
For those who want to read up more about Hagland (who also interviewed the Jensen sisters in late 2007), there are these three threads on this forum: about him:

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"
Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

Any excuse to post this picture, I suppose.
For some reason it always puts me in mind of Jonathan King, being subjected to his own music.
